goplay94123 got a reaction from summerseeker in 7+ years since sleeve…still randomly “too full”
Hi! I was wondering if anyone who is 5+ years since surgery is still experiencing any issues? I find that when I eat certain foods, much like when I was about a year or so out, that I have a feeling of being too full and can’t keep the food down. It isnt all the time. And it isnt really if I eat too much or too fast. I still eat pretty small meals at any given time and typically just eat 6 or so very small meals. An example would be if I eat Pasta, maybe 1/3 to 1/2 a cup may feel unbearable and too full and can’t keep the pasta down. It could be something random like a handful of jelly belly jelly Beans. I would say it happens maybe 1 a week? Just curious if anyone else has this issue. I have done well at keeping the weight off since the surgery and have hovered around 130-140 for the past 2 years. I am fairly active 50’s, 5’5 female. Thanks!!

Green giant bacon and cheese mashed cauliflower. When I reheat each day in little ramekins I mix in canned flakes chicken from costco and it is delicious. 1 frozen mashed cauliflower makes lunch for all week.

Crab season just started in San Francisco and was on sale at the grocery store for 5 bucks a pound. I ate it with a little bit of cocktail sauce and it was delicious (I still have about 5 ounces left) after eating it 2 days in a row. I am thinking a crab omelet tomorrow

    Happy 2020!🍾
I'm five years post op. Starting weight was 254 Lowest 125.
I maintained pretty easy in my first two years. My honeymoon ended when I had a regain in my third year. It was an emotional freak out moment. I came back to this site for support and worked the weight off. I maintain in the 130's. I give myself a ten pound bounce range to work up and down the scale. So far so good. We will see how I do in the years to come.
I identify as a weight loss patient but, life is normal and mundane this far out. People no longer comment about weight loss. Most have no Idea that I was obese. I am vigilant about my weight. I indulge and take diet/exercise breaks. When the scale moves up, I go back to bariatric weight loss diet.
I looked into plastics my first and fifth year out. I backed out both times. I'm done with people judging my body at any size. I'm comfortable in my loose skin *wink* I will never be a bikini model with the damage I did being obese. *I was not a bikini model before surgery.*
    Before and after.

Hi! This is my first time logging on in 2020.
I definitely am very grateful to have had the VSG, in August of 2015. I was miserable and just receding from life. I reached my goal weight in 2016, and then my dream weight in 2017 - the lowest I'd been since I was 14. I perhaps got too thin, down to a size XS / 2, and I'm tall. But I felt amazing and began receiving compliments from strangers and friends alike on looking beautiful, and I felt beautiful.
Unfortunately I regained some weight in 2019 after some dental disasters (I have several baby teeth that lack permanent roots, so they need to all be pulled and replaced with implants) required that I eat nothing but soft food. And then I regained again in 2020 after experimenting with fertility treatments (which weren't successful, sadly) and falling back into depression. I've gained a few more while quarantining since March. Grocery shopping became one of the few out of the house activities after we transitioned to working online, and I slipped into past habits of eating for joy and out of boredom.
My BMI is currently 26, so I'm not too far out from being in a healthy weight range again. I just want to get back on track and prevent continuing regain. I started tracking my food again on MyFitnessPal, and cleaned out the kitchen of temptations. I am hiking more often and going for scenic drives when I'm feeling restless to get out of the house. I returned here for motivation / camaraderie. I hope you are all doing well!

Hi Julie! I'm still around too...I am 6 yrs post VSG. Wow, how the time has passed. Initially I had the typical loss of the 'surgery doing the work' and felt great. Followed the rules to a T. But about 18 months post op I made major changes in my life, left a long-time career, moved, went to grad school, took a night position, etc. I started slipping little by little and although it wasn't too bad initially, as time went on I started having regain. Then I lost a parent, graduated grad school, went back AGAIN for a Doctorate, changed jobs again, etc. Finally about 2.75 yrs post op I got some super sobering health news (a condition that my surgery had corrected was back) and had to get real with myself. I had to seriously have a 'come to Jesus' moment with myself and realized the TOOL was still there. I went strict Keto and never looked back. I now have successfully lost my regain, am back where I was at my lowest post op, and am working to maybe drop another 20. No, I can't and probably never will again, eat what I really want to. I'm ok with that. My health condition is hopefully under control. I feel good. I have remained on track. I consider myself a bariatric success and I know a LOT of folks who weren't as fortunate.

I had a few bites of pizza probably at the 5 month mark. Actual real pizza. I didn't really like it the same as before. But I have made some homemade healthier pizza at home and that went ok. I also tried the frozen cpk flatbread Margarita pizza and loaded it with veggies, meat and a bit more cheese. And then ate half of 1 piece.

I had RNY surgery on 4/11/17. I just wanted to post a progress face picture. I'm off all my diabetes medications and off 3 of 4 blood pressure medications. This is best decision I ever made!

goplay94123 reacted to BigViffer in Some crunch needed for tuna
You are craving crunch because you can't have it. Kind of the Forbidden fruit syndrome. If you are only on the soft food stage, just be strong and hold on. It passes soon enough. Me personally, I wouldn't add saltine crackers back into my diet. Period. Even two years out.
Once you have been cleared for normal foods and you are in need of a crunch, celery is always the first thing people reach for because, you know... it's a vegetable. It's good for you. BUT it is also very fibrous and extremely difficult for many in the beginning. My recommendation is Pork rinds. I know, you just made a face thinking about tuna and pork rinds. But plain pork rinds really only taste kind of smoky. If you add tuna salad on it, the taste is almost nil.
One last thing, try making your tuna salad with fage plain yogurt. It's a little different, but once you acclimate to it, it's almost impossible to go back to mayo based salads. Ugh, I shudder just thinking of the fatty/slimy texture of someone elses tuna, egg, or chicken salad.

tuna packs are my go to as well - My grocery has them on sale quite often for 99 cents and the 99 cent store has them, well for 99 cents :). I tend to go with the non flavored and the low sodium so i can control the carbs and the flavor. I mix in some dill pickle relish from the fridge (no one tends to steal that)
