Yes I had her through Mt.Auburn Hospital. She answered every question both my husband and I had. She could tell he was concerned about the whole thing so she took the time to explain everything to him and make sure he was as comfortable with my decision as I was. Her bedside manner is excellent. I highly recommend her!

Today is 1 month since I had my surgery... Still learning so much about myself and my new body...lots of happiness lots of frustrations BUT all in all doing well.
    First the bad...
As you all know I had the chest pain...completely gone now! I can breathe and I wont take it for granted ever!!
Drinking lately has been odd i sip and then at times lately i feel nausea soon after...not sure why...same with eating.so taking it slow and listening to my body.
Eating is a challenge most of my protein/nutrition is coming from liquids..nutritionist says its ok but that i have to atleast challenge my body to 1 meal a day...when i do eat i can eat about 1/3- 1/4 of a cup at a time...however im always hungry since i eat so little so i just drink protein.. Which im fine with!
Clothes very baggy sucks but dealing with it...im creative so making it work as tim gunn says...
    The good!
I was 177 weekend before surgery...yesterday i was 157.8 so im doing well i have not hit the stall ywt but i am sure i will...in the mean time taking it with stride and rubbing stretch mark cream like no other lol..
Labs- all arw good diabetes gone! High triglycerides gone! sleep apnea gone! And my Migraines are so small its like i dont have them...that alone would have made this all worth it!!

@@Lucilla I fully understand I did the same thing is not something I am proud of but it happened couple of times, which showed me why I needed this surgery even more.
I am also the one cooking in the house I am use to trying everything I make so is a bad habit.
I felt and still feel my mind and body are not intoned with one another, my body yah had surgery but for some reason my mind though it was ok to try to eat things as if it was another day (if that makes sense). And I learned the hard way not to keep doing that.
What I do now Is if I want to try something and I can't seem to stop myself I just chew it for a bit and spit it out, some people may not think that's a great idea but it works for me and helps me get over that want for the food. I also now keep a portion shake with me when I am cooking or around food whenever I wanna eat something I take a sip makes me feel and the need goes away.
This is by far the hardest thing I had to do to get my mind on the same page as my stomach, it is not fully there but I am better then I was 5days out. Now that I am 20days post and moving to soft foods I am hoping it will get better.
All I can say is it happen and you can't go back in time, try your best to not do it again I know is easier said than done believe me I know. But come up with whatever that will help you get throw the next couple of weeks until you fully heal.
And as for the portion shakes I found they were way to thick too, so what I did was put them in a 1 litre Water bottle add about 1/2 cup cold Water and some ice made them a lighter which was easier to drink even though they did take forever to finish it worked for me, I am using pre mixed premier Protein.
Good luck wish you all the best.

food is always going to be around you and no one around you should have to change what they eat or avoid eating in front of you. It's a huge part of our lives and always will be. You need to be able to control your emotional eating if you want to be successful. Not only is "cheating" going to interfere with your weight loss but this early out, it could cause serious complications. It's just not worth the 2 seconds of satisfaction. Put it behind you and move forward. Good luck.

I know it is tough, but the post op diet restrictions are there to help with the healing of your new stomach. It's like feeding an infant pizza toppings- just not a good idea.
Try to start looking for alternatives during each of your food phases that can help you with the cravings.- because it will only get harder if you don't establish some habits and control early on. Alternatives can be anything from a tasty yogurt, specialty cheese to a non food alternative. When my cravings hit I give myself a fresh manicure- it's hard to eat when your nails are drying. Usually by the time my nails are dry the craving has passed. Also, I will do a facial and have splurged on some really good facial treatments.
My motto is that I was the one who choose to have surgery- not those around me. I can't expect everyone to change their lifestyle because of me. I had to learn to deal with it. There will always be food around, try to begin now making food just fuel for life not enjoyment.
Start researching new hobbies or make a list of all the things you want to do when you lose weight. These things helped me stay focused.

I don't think I'll be able to do pureeing my food. I'm going to try things like scrambled egg, Beans, cottage cheese, hummus, canned tuna, canned chicken, yogurt, soft cheese, Soup, ground beef. Remember to get enough Protein. Watch out for carbs and sugars. Maybe its from working in a nursing home and hospital for years but the thought of pureeing normal food makes me want to gag.

Try to start slowly exercising. It will help. I started the gym 4 months after surgery and I can't believe how much it has helped define my results. I added a pic for you to see

Yes, I was diagnosed with Insulin Resistance very early on from PCOS then I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was only 23. I lost 20 lbs and reversed the diabetes but continued with IR. I had the dark ring around my neck and everything I was on Metformin for a while and it tore me up. Finally got switched to the ER version and was able to tolerate it.
I stopped all medication the day I had to fast pre-op. I've hit my goal weight a year and 3 months post op and my fasting sugar averages 70-90. I've had some issues with low sugar and low blood pressure but I've figured out I need to eat every 4-5 hours to stay level. I turned 30 recently and I'm the smallest I've ever been in my adult life.

    @@proudgrammy I love it!!
I'm buying myself a gift card for my local spa for a spa retreat day when I reach my first goal: 50% excess weight loss. That's also when I plan on publicly "coming out" to tell my lap band story. I'm so angry that so many doctors discouraged me from getting this done. It's literally made me feel SO MUCH BETTER already. Better than any diet or exercise regime, better than any pill, better than any other treatment I've had. I didn't realize how horrible my appetite made me feel until it finally went away.
Other treats: TRAVEL! I love, love, love to travel. Travel is one of the big reasons I got WLS. It's easier to travel when you're in good shape. Lots of walking, hauling luggage, getting in and out of vehicles, hiking, exploring... I love seeing new places and I have a long bucket list.
I also love treating myself to pontoon boat rides, going to the movies, live comedy shows, plays/musicals, and visiting museums.

I only had to liquid diet 2 days B4 my surgery. After surgery I could only sponge my mouth with cold Water for 24hrs until I had my leak test performed. They wouldn't even let me have ice cubes. That had to be one of the worst part for me. It's right up there with the pain. After I got the leak test done and passed they served me broth, tea, and Jello. After staying 2 days at tufts I came home on the phase 3 diet which is still basically liquid. It's easier now for me tho because I have no appetite. Short stuff.....my mom is having her surgery on 3/21 too with Dr. Kim. I had my VSG last Aug at St. Elizabeth's. I went to immersion day with my mom in December. I really like the psych doc at Mt. Auburn, Dr. Greenberg. Mt. Auburn has a good program ????
Sorry to hear your endoscopy did not go well. Hopefully the rest of the process will go much smoother for you.

    Hi all -
Going through the pre approval phase at Mt Auburn. Had my immersion day in late Jan/early Feb and have my first surgeon appt in two weeks. They estimate early May, although I wish it was sooner.
So far I like Mt Auburn... am glad to be able to connect with others here.
