Hello, i started my journey in January of this year when i was told o was diabetic and pretty much on the way to the hole if i continued my ways. I was told to lose 30 pounds but i lost 51 by the day of my surgery. I started at 370 and weighed in 4 days ago at 307. I feel great being 10 days post op aside from a little sourness on my right side. Other than that...having a great time not having to work lol. Here's a before and after for yall..

Good luck those of you waiting for approval. I'm in Ontario so surgery is covered by our provincial health insurance. I have follow up with dietician and psych on April 11 and then hope to get surgeon appt. Since March 10 I have been off caffeine, no snacking, doing the Vitamin regime and trying to eat Breakfast and plan meals. I'm hoping it goes smoothly from here

Too funny JustWatchMe. I ordered that too and never used it. Had some of his videos too. Remember JANE Fonda workout! I also tried Nutrisystem in the late 80s. Was successful with Herbal Magic but put it all back on again when the stresses of life took over. Looking forward to RNY in the next couple of months

So I went to Mexico last week for 7 days. Exactly 10 months prior to that, I sat on the same beach in the same chair and emailed with my surgeon's office to make sure my paperwork was getting submitted before they closed that day at noon. It did get submitted and I was approved the following Monday. It was a couple more months before I had the surgery but returning to the same spot at around 115 pounds lighter was very significant. Here are the things I found different:
    - Easier to get up off those dang low beach chairs
    - Allowed myself to be photographed (which I never allowed before) & even bought one that one of the photographers took
    - Able to fit more than comfortably in the airplane seats
    - Able to walk down the plane aisle without my hips bumping in to the seats and people
    - Didn't panic when I got on the van and realized there was only 1 small seat left
    - Didn't sweat constantly (in fact I was annoyingly cold -- not so much an NSV)
    - Able to get in 10,000 steps several days and happy to walk on the beach
    - Customs officer looked at my passport pic and said "Congrats!"
    - Came back same weight as day I left
I know there are more, but those are the ones that stand out.
I returned from my trip and started my new job the next day. (Happy to be gainfully employed again after 2 months without work.) It was strange realizing that these folks had no idea what I looked like before (except the girl who took copy of my drivers license for my personnel file). This office is OLD and actually has stairs inside the office and I did not fear going up and down those stairs all week. (I would have been terrified before that I would be out of breath when I got to the top.) Still not 100% sure about the job but everyone was really nice and hopefully it will all work out.
Now back to reality after 10 days away from home (I will be working from home and first few days of new job training where in a different city). I managed to maintain my weight in Mexico but not so much over the last few days at the new job - too much eating out and while I did limit the amount, I wasn't able to make the best choices. Looking forward to getting back to my normal life....
Had some struggles over these days but overall, I have not one regret about this surgery and am excited to see what else it brings and what life will be like on that same beach after I am able to have plastics!

Hello all . This is my first post. I'm in Ontario so our process is a bit different but I am at the beginning. I have had my consultation/orientation. Have received initial medical clearance as low risk. Have dietician and psych Mar 10 and sleep test on Monday. I am ever so grateful for this win/win.

Not quite a 100 pounds yet....but 83 at 7 months out. I did lose about 15 of those pounds before surgery. Super happy with progress thus far.

I am waiting for surgery date. I finally made the decision to go this route in September and I am now excited. I need knee replacements and major reason for WLS is for health and to be pain free. I love to cook and can't wait to work over recipes to make them healthy. Looking forward to gardening and growing fresh herbs and vegetables pain free. So much is for health for me .....looking better will be a great second. I'm 54 and looking forward to a new lease on life.

I am pre op and have always felt I would never need to do this that I could do it myself. Well I have done it myself and the weight always crept back on. For me it was about control (needing to keep it lol). Now I need both knees replaced. My doctor again recommended surgery except this time gently said " let go of your ego". Well this hit home for me and here I am. I am embracing the gift of this surgery and knowing I will get new knees too is nothing but a win/win. I am grateful for my doctor and his honesty and his genuine care. Everyone I speak to says they wished they had it sooner.
