So let me get this straight....I'm home....no sugar no carbs no caffeine hardly any alcohol work out five days a week....stuck at same weight for three weeks. Go out of town eat a bunch of shit all day for five times a day don't work out drink alcohol come back… Lost 3 pounds. WTF? How my supposed to keep making progress when my body is an asshole and makes no sense at all?
Only thing I can deduce from this exercise is that maybe I wasn't eating enough before or I was gaining muscle before as well…#mybodyiscray #annoyed #53lbsdown #20togo

Great video. How far out is that lady? That seems like so much food. I am not sure I can eat all that!
I went grocery shopping yesterday. Overwhelming. I took my time looking at stuff, Protein, calories, etc.
I picked up some packets of tuna. chicken breast to shred. Cod pieces. Deli lunch meats, cheese slices and shredded cheese. Some soft fruits. Eggs/egg whites. We will see what I decide to try tomorrow.
    Good luck!

so this is my 2 week mark! thank God!
weird thing in the last 24 hours the shakes have started to make me feel icky. it's weird cuz i been drinking these freaking things for 2 weeks so why start upsetting my stomach now? ugh. last day before i go on the mushy stuff. YAY. dunno what to do about this shake thing. like ignore it and drink them and feel crappy or...well i guess there is no "or". sigh.
anyways. 217 today so down 15lbs in the two weeks which is pretty great. had a few stumbles here and there but i got thru it. tonight i'm going shopping and going to try to stay low sugar, low sodium, somewhat lowfat, high Protein and prolly no carbs or only a couple whole wheat things for now. till i reach my first goal of 50lbs.

    this video is SUPER handy.
Also I got some great tips - gonna get 4oz tupperwares for my meals and do layering of flavors like she did. I think my first "real food" day will be something like this:
Breakfast - egg white scramble with salsa and sour cream and little cheese - MAYBE a few potatoes or 1/2 whole wheat toast.
snack - shrimp with cocktail suace
lunch - corn tortilla, shredded chicken, cheese, Beans, salsa, sour cream MAYBE avocado
snack - cold cut roll up - turkey, 1/2 cheese stick, miracle whip and mustard
dinner - shrimp, cauliflower rice, peppers, low sodium soy sauce, butter
all these consist of four ounces. If i need more Protein i'll drink a shake.

seriously, i was prone to "food rage" before but i could never place what was causing. I tired gluten free, vegetarian, etc but nothing worked. but now i think i have the key! I am very even right now, not mad, not sad, just content and fine. this is crazy!

Niya0216 reacted to AvaFern in How long before you 'cheated'?
I didn't cheat really until about 3-4 months after surgery. I had my surgery in September and then enjoyed chocolate and sweets all through Christmas. I went back to not eating chocolate or sweets January, and then I didn't really eat much junk again until the same time the next year. I have a deal with myself that I can have as much chocolate as I want around Christmas, because if I eat it the rest of the year it is the one thing I cannot do in moderation and I will eat it everyday. This Christmas was the third Christmas following sleeve surgery, I had been at goal for 8 months, and I had no great urge to eat junk. On Christmas Eve I had a few pieces of chocolate, a bite of brownie, and other things I don't eat the rest of the year, felt kinda sick, and have had no urge to eat it since.
So, while sometimes I will get a muffin at Starbucks that I know is bad for me, or I used to get a cakepop or a cookie, I actually "cheat" less now that I'm at goal because it isn't cheating anymore. If I want cake, I can have it...I just seem to never really want it. The worst food I eat on a regular basis is goldfish crackers. Since my New Years Eve chocolate adventure, I haven't had any sweets, I haven't had anything really bad for me, and except every once in awhile debating a muffin or a bagel, which I sometimes have a few bites of, I don't really eat junk food. Perhaps because now that it isn't a matter of cheating, the desire to have it is no longer there.

I had all of my plastics done with Dr. Ankit Desai, also in Jacksonville, FL. Excellent surgeon, with a fantastic bedside manner.
Also how long was your surgery?
My sleeve surgery was about an hour
How long did you stay in the hospital?
3 days- I arrived Monday at 6am, surgery was at 7:30, and I left on Wednesday around 10am.
How has your recovery in the hospital?
I was miserable. I think I had a major nausea issue with the IV narcotics. I knew I was driving myself home, so I discontinued the good drugs on Tuesday morning which is when I slowly started resolving the need-to-puke problem. I pretty much dry heaved for the majority of my first two days in the hospital, despite being maxed out on Phenergan and Zofran, which when you just had your stomach cut open is even less fun than normal dry heaving. I paid extra for the Bliss insurance, so on Wednesday morning I felt so horrible I asked to stay an extra day. Morgenthal basically told me I needed to suck it up, gave me a huge attitude, and then said, sure, fine stay, whatever. By that point I was so mad, I had the energy I needed to pack up my stuff and leave. I suppose if you actually use the extra $1200 you pay for insurance it makes the doctor look bad, so I guess that was the motivation for pushing me out on-time. I was so sick I could barely walk, but fortunately I was also furious, lol. I drove myself home, felt like death for a few days, and then everything started to improve. Basically once I was off of the IV pain killers, within 24-48 hours I started feeling better.
Could your spouse/caretaker stay with you in your room while you were there?
Pretty sure they can- I did not have anyone with me.
What would you say was the most important thing to bring with you?
A warm blanket (I was freezing the entire time) a soft pillow with your own pillow case, comfy, big pajamas with thick, grippy sock and a heating pad. I brought the heating pad because I heard it would help relieve the pain in your shoulder from the excess air in your stomach, but it ended up being wonderful for actually keeping me warm. I was also super glad I brought pajamas because you have to walk a lot and this way I wasn't worried about accidentally mooning anyone with the gown, lol. I brought thick, socks with the grips on the bottom because while they give you some, they are scratchy and not very warm. If you make sure you get the kind with the sticky grips, they don't have a problem with you wearing your own socks. Regular socks make you a fall hazard and to be fair, it is fairly difficult for about 24 hours to not faceplant into the ground everytime you get out of bed. Also, I brought gas-x strips, which I was glad I did because they wouldn't give me any in the hospital. So..I had my own, lol. You are slammed with fluids, so you will need to go to the bathroom A LOT- another nice reason to have pajamas because you can get in and out of bed without giving everyone a show. Also, this might sound weird, but I was glad I had my soft sports bra with me. Make sure you don't bring one that is tight or has an underwire (if they do a hiatal hernia repair you have an incision that is just on your bra strap line around your ribs). I was happy that I felt comfortable walking around the hospital without my girls swinging all over the place, lol...the small things that make you happy when you feel like you want to die. Lastly, bring an extension cord with a power strip. You then don't have to worry about your phone not staying charged...it is plugged in right next to you the entire time.

Yes! Glitter Eyes you can find me on Facebook and we can link up there. I'm still figuring out this site. I am having the surgery first then my husband is going to do it. I would love to meet with you and Ruth1less just to get an idea of what I'm getting into. I work for a plastic surgeon so I kinda know what the process is on that end as far documentation because my insurance does a couple of procedures that I'll need after my weight loss is at goal but I have never weighed under 150 even in the 5 grade. I am looking forward to the journey.

    1. I didn't have a pre op diet so I just had broth after I first got home and it wasn't just broth but broth, sugar free Jello, Protein shakes, v8 juice, Water...and I had no desire to eat so it wasn't miserable.
    2. That will depend on your doc and his/her instructions.
    3. I'm 3 months out and I don't snack. Snacking can lead to grazing and grazing to weight gain, so I just stick to my plan. I'm never hungry so the desire to snack has gone away which really helps.
    4. My scars were all closed on the outside within 9-10 days except for my drain hole. That one took about 2wks to close. My scars are really tiny, but will probably remain dark purple for about a year then fade to a pink and hopefully disappear in the stretch marks like my gall bladder surgery scars did.
    5. I don't have cravings...so that changed, but my taste buds completely changed. Before surgery cherry anything made me gag and throw up. Since surgery it's my favorite flavor! I also find that chocolate tastes like dirt...it did when I was pregnant too, but now it's all the time so I had to ditch all my chocolate Protein Shakes because of the taste.
    6. It depends on where you go. I love sushi and sashimi so when we go out for like Chinese food, we'll go someplace that does Asian fusion and has sashimi. I'll have a couple pieces of that and maybe half of a crab Rangoon if I'm in the mood and that's about it. If I'm going to an Italian place, I'll look for a fish or something non breaded and take the rest home. If we are doing a burger place, I'll do a bun less burger with Condiments on the side and give the fries away to the kids and take the rest of the burger home. You'll be surprised how long leftovers go. I had a ribeye steak one day and it lasted me 6 meals with plenty leftover for the dog. lol

    1. Can you also have Protein Shakes, sugar free Jello and sugar free Popsicle on your plan? I found that the variety of those things helped. I also tried a lot of different Protein shakes and that kept things interesting. Just remember this phase does not last forever so you can make it through.
    2. The purée soups depends on your plan. Pre op I was only allowed protein shakes, broth, SF jello and SF Popsicles. Post op I was allowed puréed soups
    3. For the first approx. three months I found it hard enough just to get all my protein and Water in for the day. food didn't taste very good in the beginning for me and I didn't want any snacks, I just ate when I was hungry. We are all different. Just listen to your body, stick to your plan, and when you do eat snacks make sure they are healthy snacks and you will do fine.
    4. Wish I could remember how long mine took to heal. I did go on a beach vacation at five weeks post op and they were completely healed by then.
    5. After surgery my tasted changed drastically. I didn't have any cravings for about the first nine months. Now when I have cravings its for sweet things- pre op I loved chips bread and Pasta, now I have no cravings for those things. Now that I am at maintenance if I have a craving for something sweet I eat it and just get right back on my high protein low carb way of eating.
    6. Going out to eat has always been easy for me. I just make sure to pick high protein food. Almost all restaurants have something you can pick from. Nowadays I usually just split a meal with my husband or get an appetizer. Makes eating out cheaper. For instance today I was out running errands and shopping and went through chick fil a and got the grilled chicken nuggets.
    Good luck on your surgery!!

Plus what type is mushies are the best to eat?

Niya0216 reacted to Bufflehead in Switching from liquid to mushies
@@NatashaSaysRawr tuna with light mayo and egg salad were both things I ate on my puree stage. I had to actually puree the tuna in a food processor according to my team's instructions -- my second phase was "puree" not "mushie." I know it sounds gross but it makes it easier on your stomach. I would puree the tuna with a little light mayo (there's a light chipotle mayo that I like a lot) and put it in a tiny ramekin and sprinkle some shredded cheese on top. Heat it up in the microwave and it's like a tuna casserole without the noodles.
PS I don't mind talking about food suggestions at all, but did your team not give you any instructions? I got a booklet with lists of permitted foods and forbidden foods at each stage, directions on how much to eat, and several suggested recipes. Did your team give you anything like that?

I'm 4 weeks post op. I use the lose it app to track my Protein that helps. Premier Protein shakes are 30gm protein mix with cheesecake sf pudding mix. Yum. Pureprotein unflavored made by nestle with low sugar oatmeal and fair life milk very good and high protein. Just do the best you can and remember shakes yogurt Popsicles ect are all liquids and count as such.
