LSF got a reaction from CanyonBaby in Jumping to Conclusions!
Well said. I was talking to one of my friends about that post , I saw that you said " kids meal" and I was telling her- that doesn't mean " fast food" it could have just been a children's size healthy meal. There are days when I'm tempted to stop going on this site. The Thread about Sugar Vs artificial sweeteners was also very heated. I stopped reading that one a long time ago. There have been times I wanted to start a thread about some concerns I have but didn't want to deal with the people that just start bashing you for mistakes we make.

I keep telling myself that if I really want it- I can have it! But I AM making the choice not to have it. No one is out there telling me I can't have it ( then I'm going to want it more) . I feel like when I'm choosing not to have something , I actually don't feel as sad about it because it was my choice .

LSF got a reaction from BLERDgirl in Is bypass a better revision?
When I read the postings from those that had bypass, they seem very happy. And the same is said for those that had the sleeve. I choose to revise to the sleeve because it seemed more natural for me, I didn't want any re-routing of my organs. I would just read both forums so you can see the different views from people. And talk to your surgeon about the pros & cons of each
Oops , just realized your surgeon recommends the sleeve.

It looks like you're doing a fantastic job. Keep up the good work! I can only view your month 1 and 2 losses from the cell phone app though. Is there more to see? What was your starting weight and current weight? I lost the majority of my weight post wls the first 4 months. At 5'7" I started out at 236, lost 10 pounds pre-op and was down 50ish pounds in the first four months. Here's the thing though. The closer you get to goal, things reallllllly start to slow down! I reached my surgeon's goal of 160 in no time. I now weigh 152 and my stretch goal is to weigh 145. Losing those last 7 pounds will likely take me several months. Looking at my track record, at 11 months post-wls I'm losing about 1-2 pounds per month if I'm lucky! It took me the last 4 months to lose 15 pounds. I've now become one of those skinny girls I used to want to smack when they complained they couldn't lose 5-10 pounds!

4 weeks out? Read below about your stalled weight loss and check out the link. As for the depression, hopefully it will pass as you lose weight and inches and start feeling better about yourself. Don't mourn the foods that got you here. They're NOT your friends!!! Instead, Celebrate that you have the chance to break free of those unhealthy chains. Good luck, and now read on...
Congratulations! You have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the pounds will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!
(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

I didn't read what anyone else said but I think time to time we all kinda feel this sense of sadness or depression. Its like a loss or break up. You broke up with your larger portions of food and loss the relationship you previously had with your stomach. I question myself every week. Its hard to go out to dinner and order the grilled fish or shrimp or boring chicken when everyone else is having something just yummy. Your way didn't work on controlling your eating and this is the way you have chosen to dig yourself out of that hole. I won't lie I go to a food addiction meeting every week. I'm addicted to food, if I wasn't then all those diets would of worked and surgery would of not happened. Its not to say you can't ever eat the things you had before, it is to say you will learn what comes first and how to control what you eat. The old saying is you no longer live to eat but eat to live. I hope you come to love your new life and the reclaiming of happiness as you continue along, Every day I question my choice and it takes some convincing at times but I know I did the right thing. I'm sure you will too. Spending you good vibes and wishing you the best of luck!

Call your doctor or nutritionist and get help. If your program has a support group, make it your mission in life to get there. If your "kid's meal" is a fast food meal, you need to rethink your options. We don't know the circumstances but it appears you perhaps misunderstood the lifestyle change that comes with this surgery.

I am so grateful i had 9 months prep for this. I gave up fast food and soda 6 months ago. Getting rid of all processed foods. Taking carbs as far down as i could. Joined the gym. I've learned it's not a diet, it's a total lifestyle change and I'm totally ready for it!

Wow!! This forum is supposed to be a place where people can turn to for advice with their concerns & struggles, not to be bashed!!! I was trying to convey to her how I'm trying to look at it differently as not a deprivation but as a choice. MOST of us had the surgery because we have failed at every other diet out there. It's hard to talk with people who have not had the surgery- they don't understand. We might not all agree with everyone but we should be empathetic to everyone's challenge post- surgery

I don't think the post was meant to convey that someone just out of surgery should have McDonalds. I think the idea is to help prevent feelings of being deprived which then increases the desire for whatever "it" is.
My dad did this when he quit smoking. He had a pack in the basement and would say that he could have a cigarette anytime he wanted to. He just chose NOT to have it that day.
For some people this strategy is very effective.

I drank the Premier Protein drinks which are 30 grams each so I knew if I could only get in 2 per day I would be fine. In the hospital, they have us this plastic tube thing to breathe into to alleviate the gas and it helped. I do think that walking will help

I don't think the guy I know is on this. I do know that he did not go to the surgeons in my area that are well known & highly recommended. I'm sure if he were to consult with a surgeon near you- they can send him to a support group where he can talk to people in person. I was required to attend the support group meetings & there were men there

Here's one I just made - I bought roast beef deli , sautéed it with chopped onions in olive oil. Sliced a green pepper into large pieces, put provolone cheese on each slice, topped with the roast beef/ onion and added more cheese on top. Baked for 15 minutes
I live alone also while my son is away so I'm creating these great small meals

Love the long note lol. Here goes to answer questions. Wife is doing well and is down 84 lbs in just over 3 Mos. I'm down 77 lbs since surgery 4 plus months ago. I've stalled pretty much for last couple of weeks. Don't know why as can't eat much. I've missed some work time here and there since returning about 7 weeks ago including 1 week when tube went back in. I don't think I drink enough as its hard, probably around 30 Oz a day but try to drink mostly Powerade zero. I can tolerate most any food but in small quantities. Even had a bit of alcohol at a social gathering and get buzzed after a small amount buy buzz goes quickly lol. From a few bites I get uncomfortable, burp a lot, feel like I'll throw it up, start salivating, etc.. So somedays I don't get in much nutrition or Protein. I feel nausea is getting worse lately so maybe botox is wearing off. Not sure. Surgeons now are wait and see approach. I haven't thrown up in weeks but close to it more and more last few days with some heaves, again I think nausea is getting worse. I haven't dwelled on what happens When botox wears off but now in my mind with increased nausea. So far nothing has prevented me from living life. I acting normal and doing normal things. Still think I am weak and need to try and exercise more. I am very tired by 8pm when used to stay up until midnight. Well hope that answers most questions. Maybe a new thread will be good, but I know a lot on here are following this one so that makes it easy.
I cannot express my feelings for the wonderful support you folks have given me and will always be grateful you got me thru the toughest part of my life. Thank you to everyone!

I tried something I never had before. food hasn't been too appealing lately. At my work cafeteria yesterday, I took some Tunafish from the salad bar but I'm getting sick of tuna. Someone made a comment that there was bacon on the salad bar- I started thinking about it and the next thing I knew, I was adding the cut up cooked bacon in the cup with my tuna and ate it. It was delicious!! Never had those 2 foods together before

I think we were sleeved around the same time. I posted this the other day - I sliced a pepper and put the 4 pieces on a cookie sheet. I sauteed chopped onion & deli roast beef. I put 1/2 slice of provolone cheese on the pepper slices, then added the roast beef/onion mixture and topped with more provolone. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes. Its quick, easy & delicious

My co- workers are also very supportive. I think with the WLS, a lot of people lose weight so quickly in the beginning that's it's actually Water weight, then as they slow down, it turns to fat coming off. I've only lost 16 pounds and am getting comments from people, you would think I lost 50 ( I wish) !! Lol
