  1. Wow I cant keep up with this thread! Welcome all!!! I am pretty much on regular softer foods now. I am not eating much it seems but I am not losing either! I sure hope this fill coming up helps - I have so many friends that have recently had Rou-n-y and it is hard to see them. Losing 45-50 lbs in 6 -8 weeks! I am working my butt off and stuck at 15 lbs. Makes me nervous that I made the wrong decision. Jill
  2. Happy new year everyone! Natalie- glad to see ya here! Keep up the great work! Welcome all new bandsters!
  3. Guess what! I get my first fill on Jan 29th!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unless something goes on between now and then! I feel good and I am ready to lose some weight! I am hungry and I havent lost any more weight in like 6-7 days! ANyone else know when they will get the first fill! ? Jill
  4. It is such an adjustment and I think you are mourning the loss of your best friend- FOOD! I suggest you make yourself go and FAKE it like you are having a good time if you have too. You may find it takes your mind off of stuff and you may find yourself actually having some fun! Good luck hang in there- you'll get a new best friend-- it may be the petite section of your fav clothing store! Jill
  5. Good luck beversman~! How many more do we have waiting???
  6. Dawnae and VA Bandster, Dont be too hard on yourself, just pick up where you left off and keep going. I am allowed to be on mushies and I was banded on 12-12. He told me I could at 2 days post op. I am losing and have not had any problems. I am not saying you should until your dr says ok, I am just saying it has not affected my band
  7. Shutuplena- packing is a good idea, although I am not sure how I would keep yogurt or cottage cheese cold, or how I would cook broth or soup. I am going to carry the protein shakes in my car, so that will help. Teatea- My Dr did say for me to start mushies so I dont feel like I am going to "sabatogize the operation" I agree fast food is the worst possible thing to put in your body, but I am glad I ate as I felt great restriction and it made me realize this band is working, just not working so great with mushies as they slide right thru. When will your dr release you to mushies??? Jill
  8. Thininde- My Dr told me I could start puree on day #2 if I felt up to it. It is the same as mushy. oatmeal, yogurt, cottage cheese. I stay low fat (mostly) and chew it well even if it is mush! Jill
  9. Well I feel really good I am 8 days post op and I slept mostly on my belly last night! I started out on my side, I can not sleep on my back. But when I woke up I was in my normal belly position with one leg bent! I slept so good. I am healing really well and I lost another pound since yesterday, in spite of my solid food experience. I am not going to worry to much about it. I am not going to eat bread or high carbs. I am going to advance to puree soft proteins. I feel I am ready and it goes down well. I feel small restriction without a fill and I hope this continues for a little while as long as I am losing. Yesterday for lunch I ate most of a third of hamburger patty and 2 french fries. I smothered them in ketchup. I am not recommending this although it went down fine. I really want to stay away from fast food. I didnt have a choice yesterday b/c we were on the toll road and nothing else available for miles. They didnt even have soup! I could have had a milk shake but I didnt want that much carbs! Good luck to all of you guys being banded soon! I cant wait to see your pictures next Christmas! Jill
  10. I feel great. I am losing weight, but I am not sure if I am following the diet or not! I am confused! He told me I could start puree. So I had been drinking protein shakes, cottage cheese, soups etc. Well today I was gone out of town all day, mostly on the road. We stopped the only place along the road and nothing was available except fast food. I got a cheeseburger cut 1/3 of it off and removed the bun, covered it with ketchup and ate most of the middle soft part of it and left the outer edge. I also ate 2 small soft fries. I was satisfied but not stuffed. My daughter ate the rest. Is this bad? Am I too early to do this?? I chewed it to muck in my mouth and I had no problems. Does pureeing it in your mouth count???
  11. Here is a question for Dec bandsters that are banded. How many days post op are you and what are you eating? I am 5 days post op and starting to get hungry! I was so hoping I would not get hungry at all. I am drinking lots of Water and today I had creamy mushroom soup, and refried Beans. I am also drinking Protein shakes. My Dr said I could be on puree diet but he didnt say I could puree meat. I need some more ideas for Protein. Do you think it would be ok to puree meat?? Jill
  12. Well I am banded!!!!!!!!! Sorry I havent updated or been on here much, my sil came into town to take care of me and my kids for the week so I been spending time with her. She had rou-n-y 7 mo. ago and looks fantastic! I am so proud of her. Here is my surgery story-- Went to hospital at 530 am found out my surgeon was doing an emergency OR case. (he does more than baratric surg) and my dh and mom waited with me until 0800 I kissed my hubby and next thing I know I am waking up with a fair amount of belly pain in the recovery room. I got pain meds (alot) and was taken to my hospital room. I was so sleepy all day I couldnt hardly stay awake to even drink, so I didnt drink much, but I had my IV still in so I was well hydrated. I have 5 small incisions. I had alot of port pain where they stitched it into the muscle and that remains tender still 4 days post op. But it is tolerable and better every day. I really didnt drink too much for the first 2 days except Water, but now I am drinking Protein shakes, I ate cottage cheese, refried Beans, and yogurt so far. Today is the first day I have an appetite at all, but I am taking it easy. I had alot of gas pains and bloating. I was constipated, but my Dr told me to get some Benefiber and that has helped alot. My kids both came down with upper resp infections and I came down with it Thursday 2 days post op. So I am trying to fight that off and the coughing is very painful. In all it hasnt been too bad though. I only took pain meds once yesterday and none so far today. I have lost 6 lbs since Tuesday. I total of 12 since my high. I am happy so far. Good luck to all of you and I will be on here when I can!!! Jill
  13. I say take the vacation-- then come back and get banded! LOL and dont feel guilty about doing it!!!!!!!!!! =) I am joking of coarse!!!! That would really get your familly going! I hope your hubby gets on board with you!
  14. Good luck to everyone as we start this new adventure together! I cant wait for us all to post pictures a year from now!!!!!!! I am not doing the best on my pre op diet. I was really struggling b/c those darn shakes give me such a belly ache. I called my Dr's office and they put me on high protein one meal a day so that has helped alot. I at least get some food. I have lost 5 lbs in 4 days so I guess that is a start right??
  15. I would like to know the following about the pre-op diet. I am currently doing this diet, and I think it is a horrible. It is not heathy and teaches you the opposite of what you should be eating post op. Mine consist of a protein shake and protein bar three times daily. I am curious what everyones pre-op was and how compliant they were. IE Did you cheat?? Alot?? I am interested in this from a medical stand point as the hospital I work at is working on becoming a "Center for Excellence for Baratric patients" and I want to find out how to develop the best program that pt's and Dr's can live with so both have a high success rate. Thanks for all input and opinions, but PLEASE keep it friendly!! :kiss2:
  16. I hear kidney stones are a problem for baratric patients. I had one when I was pregnant! Wow-- I would rather have labor anyday!

  21. Finally after almost 2 years! My date is december 12th a day after my 31st birthday!!!!!! I am so excited! I am pumped and excited to join ya all! Jill The weird thing is-- exactly one year ago today I got the denial for the lapband from dh insurance. EXACTLY one year later and I am approved!!!!!!!!!!! I wonder where I would be at if I had gotten approved then. Obviously it wasnt in God's plan for me yet.
  22. oh whops- sorry I asked, nevermind
  23. I havent been on here much as I had no computer access all summer, I see alot of people are gone. Did alot of people loose there bands?? Where's Delarla?
