Casual as usual. Terrible lighting. Oh, and hubby obviously shook the umbrella in front of the mirror yesterday... ?
  2. If you in genreal don't mind a sweet breakfast try mixing a protein powder with an unsweetened one. There are either unsweetened plain proteins out there but there are also unsweetened vanilla or chocolate proteins out there, e. g. nutri+ or alphafoods.
  3. Do the phytoestrogens really have weird effects on dudes? If this is bothering you, you could get a soy protein that is filtered. Or try a different source of plant protein. There are plenty of protein mixes out there.
  4. Eating liquid doesn't really warrant the label of "eating". It already gets on my nerves big time. Maybe I should start a ticker until March 18th when I'll be allowed to have real food again, lol. ???
  5. So far no cramping or pain today. The incisions still hurt a bit of course but my abdominal muscles don't hurt as much as they did after previous surgeries. The only thing that hurts less, lol. I'M glad I'm on sick leave for some more days though.
  6. I have that feeling of fullness. Bypass feels way better than the band for me.
  7. It depends on your preferences. You can have it quite cheap or you can spend a fortune. If you like the taste of the less expensive stuff and have no problems with intolerances you don't have to spend a lot of money. Please check back with your team regarding the slow release stuff. We were advised not to take anything depot or slow release.
  8. Meh, I hate measuring and tracking food. Triggers obsession and some weird kind of anxiety.
  9. Yes, nut butters are problematic. They're best weighed. The tbs and tsp measurements are way off in my experience.
  10. Yes, I wonder how little calories that is...
  11. I would be starving on this meal plan. ?
  12. I haven't seen any pictures so I don't know how severe it is or how slow the peristaltic wave is. You don't have achalasia, do you? I can remember I had a horribly slow peristaltic wave when I still had my lap band and the esophagus was dilated as well. Luckily the esophagus is at a normal caliber again and peristaltic wave is normal.
  13. So it might not be a surgery related problem after all?
  14. What about peanut flavored protein powder? Give it a try.
  15. I hold the opinion that it might be dependent on the amount of effort you have to put in and how happy (like really happy) you are with the changes you've made in your life, e. g. how much does one really enjoy going to the gym five times a week or talking a walk during lunch break or how much does one really miss certain higher caloric foods etc.? Is the diet/exercise plan a person is on really a schedule that makes this person happy? Or is it at least a regimen that the person doesn't really mind to have? Or does it feel like a chore every damn time? I think that one will run almost inevitably into burnout sooner or later if the lifestyle that was chosen feels like a millstone around the neck. And even if you're managing to hold up your routine - most likely you'll feel very miserable on it in the long run. However, this is just my personal opinion based on the mistakes I made in the past.
  16. So sorry you're still suffering from reflux this much. Did they offer you any other therapy option by now despite converting to RNY? May I ask why you're doing this test? I thought it was already clear that you have severe acidic reflux?
  17. I just noticed that tomorrow is 6th March. My first surgery will be exactly 19 years ago then.
  18. True. Most people on here are out less than two years.
  19. How many times have I seen this written on an internet board? Countless times. ? Wishing you all the success you want though.
  20. Yes, it definitely is.
  21. Recovery is not as quickly this time. I have trouble sleeping, feel kind of restless but pretty beaten. Had some cramps a few hours ago that lasted half an hour or so. I have to test out what I can eat a few days out and what not. Protein drinks seem ok, the protein pudding might have been too heavy. Will try that again in a few days. I'm still scared of complications. I'll be glad when the first month or so will be over.
  22. The "elimination of carbs" was never suggested by my treatment team. They support vegetarianism but are very hesitant about veganism, at least early out. I kind of understand being hesitant about a 100% plant based diet early out. Later on, when one can eat enough food to meet all nutrient requirements it's not really a problem. However, from what I can tell from this board is that treatment teams in the US seem to follow an anti-carbohydrate and low-calorie approach at least in many, many cases. Not sure if you can find a center near you that handles things differently.
  23. That's a very optimistic thing to say. True, WLS is the best (if not the only) chance at the moment but that most people reach and maintain a healthy weight (which would mean 100% EWL)... the studies out there don't say so. At least I've never stumbled across a one that claimed that most patients reach and maintain a 100% EWL after WLS. Anyway, one doesn't need to reach a normal weight of getting tremendous health benefits. And what's a "healthy" weight... not sure if that is really the same as what fits the definition of "normal" weight these days.
