Joann454 got a reaction from mustanglauri in Surgery was the EASY part
Yeah, it's easy to forget what the early stages were like for me. It's so very easy now at just over three months out. It's the cross we must bear. It goes by fast!

Joann454 got a reaction from twotoo in Trying on smaller sizes
I retired and stopped wearing my suits and dress clothes and gained a lot of weight without noticing due to stretchy clothes. I knew I was gaining but not to the extent that I did. -

Wow, you have only been on the forum since April and have shown yourself to be a real charmer. Has there been a thread that you have participated where you did not call someone a bully, cruel, or mention your profession? I do question the quality of someones education that is allegedly approaching a doctorate in psychology yet had to resort to surgery to correct a psychological problem.
Why didn't you interact with your colleagues in regards to your food addiction? I don't usually defend forum members, but Véronique is nothing but supportive in the threads I have read. However; you attacking her, or trying to make an example of her, so that no one dare question you is a jerk move.

I guess it's a NSV I kinda forgot my surgiversary. I'm 3 years post op and maintaining all of my 130 lb loss. (I do bounce up and down 4-5 lbs). Still tracking everything I eat, it keeps me in check. Walking 8 miles a day 6x a week. Completed a LBL earlier this year and getting ready for final skin removal on legs soon.
Just hope those starting this journey know if I can do it ANYONE can. I stuck to my Dr's diet very strictly making all the changes lifestyle changes. I don't deprive myself now, but splurges are now occasional instead of daily. And I love that my sleeve still really restricts me. It's hard to feel guilty about 1 small piece of pizza and I'm so grateful that I'm totally satisfied after that one piece.
Hopeful everyone is enjoying much success and while I don't post often, I'm always happy to help anyone in need. Feel free to reach out. I'm cheering you all on!!!!

Joann454 got a reaction from heycrystal2052 in Did anyone do anything crazy being wheeled into the OR?
Were ya a little drugged up?
Not going into surgery but after a different procedure apparently when I woke up I was the welcome wagon of the unit. Yelling good luck and wishing all well. I dont remember it.

I remember chatting w/ the Anesthesiologist, as he was chatting w/ me, he gave me anesthesia. All I can remember, I looked at him and continued to chat and out of nowhere, I was told I looked at everyone and said: "Oh boy, this stuff really works"...Lights out! lol

Joann454 got a reaction from Sosewsue61 in Why do we fall off the wagon? & How to get back on?
Yup. I had no idea how much I used food to comfort me. I would've told you before surgery that I most definitely didn't do that. It wasn't until I couldn't eat that I realized it.
Grazing is a big no no for me. I have to thoughtfully plan my meals and not snack when vegging out. It's a HUGE adjustment but one I want to make and am working hard at changing every single day. -

I had to find new ways to comfort myself. I'll have a coffee or take a shower and work through it. The worst was the anniversary of my father's death. I was so sad and couldn't eat. It really hit me how much I used food to cope. If you can't work through it you might want to seek out a therapist to help you. No shame in it. -

You know, you might be on to something with the age thing. I'm post menopausal and have had no mood swings. I had a couple days early on where I wanted to eat and couldn't and felt moody but no real swings or regrets. Being old finally pays off! Lol -

I never really had regret either. I feel so bad for the folks who do. -

I'm 3 mos and can eat anything at this point. Good and bad. Now it's up to me to make good choices, choose Protein first and pass on dessert. I've taken a sip of pop and did fine, but was never a pop drinker. I've eaten a slice of cake without a problem. I want to lose weight so now I have to choose the lifestyle I want. I've been down the road of obesity and God has given me a second chance and I am taking it. I'm down 40# since surgery and haven't felt this good in my joints in years. You'll feel better a time passes and you'll probably change your mind. G good luck to you.

Interesting, my PCP warned me that she had a few weight loss surgery patients that were unhappy, but the vast majority were happy. I am sorry it hasnt worked out for you. Hope its better for you later when the weight loss starts to really accumulate.
Also interesting about post-menopausal folks not experiencing the doldrums -- finally something in the "plus" column (in addition to no more periods, quite a big plus, LOL).

Oh you guys! I feel so bad for you. Five days till I go in and I expect feeling like this too. But my NUT said it perfectly normal in the beginning. Keep picturing all the things you want to do once you're better, I like that idea Strega!

Yeah, I've hurt some feelings unintentionally with sarcasm. I wish I could convey tone in text easily. -

I've had decent experiences here and have received great advice. There are definitely some tools around and some hyper sensitive folks that get upset if you don't use emojis and hugs and say everything in the most delicate way. I have no patience with either lol

Well I'm guilty[emoji1480]i definitely love emojis [emoji18][emoji30]lol but I also believe in tough love, i have probably read a lot of the post where the person was being xtra sensitive and wanted someone to basically lie to them and defend bad habits/behavior, not me I'm open to all feedback and understand that everyone wont agree, its ok to hear different opinions! I luv the honesty here! Thats a small part of why i continue to come here and the information of course! I just think there should be a little more dialogue when it comes to just conversations about the journey and not just about answering questions, I have a huge family but a small circle of people I've told about this surgery, not that their tired of hearing about it but its good to talk to other people who can relate to what your going threw! I know I'm all over the place with this post🤷🏾♀️lol i be having a lot to say🤦🏾♀️ thank you all for listening/reading my post! It feels good not to feels ignored[emoji1497]I'm the queen [emoji146]of sarcasm in my personal life[emoji56]
