This is what i would do (and have done under similar circumstances during my first pregnancy): walk into the Dr. office with or without an appt Monday morning and demand to see that doctor to discuss the test results. Tell them you won't take no for an answer because it's having a significant impact on your overall health and wellbeing, thereby impacting the health and wellness of your unborn child. A month will simply not do.

Took this today. I'm sitting between 261-258lbs give or take. I'm also in a XLT shirt. I haven't been able to wear one of these shirt sizes since I was like 12/13 years old. I just turned 36 on Tuesday, so it feels wonderful to reverse the weight trend after 17/18 years of trying and failing. Going to actually go buy my first time ever American Eagle complete outfit. Now I finally get why women love to go clothes shopping.

This would be a good time to talk to a therapist before your brain takes you in a direction you're not prepared for. Body image is such a tricky topic for us ladies and how we define/view ourselves is very much tied to our appearance (unfortunately) in varying ways depending on our cultural, spiritual and educational background...probably even class (again, unfortunate but true). Don't get too out of sorts before finding someone to talk to that has some background in this area. Maybe the person that did your pre op psych eval?

Agree 1000%! Do you follow Scibabe on Facebook? Love love love her posts on the "food wars" - she advocates for science/research based informed decision making about food choices.

You will not ever be able to achieve 100% compliance with your new routine. They key is to keep those variances to a minimum so they don't become routine.
We need to accept our dietary slip-ups and failures in the proper context. One poorly selected meal won't ruin your sleeve or change your overall program outcome. The key is to recognize when we stray from our programs and correct ourselves before these things slip into our routine and become the new normal.

So we had this dinner in our community for the Fire Department (My hubby is on the department). Anyway I wanted to wear something nice so I went shopping and picked out some Miss Me Skinny Jeans and a super cute top to wear. The sales lady was super supportive and helped me pick the right size of jeans (hey, I'm not in my 20s anymore and I have no idea what all these weird sizes are)
Anyway, I got home with my size 29 jeans and proceeded to do laundry and pick up the house. While folding my step-daughter's clothes I noticed that her skinny jeans from Miss Me are a size 28 and she is a tiny stick figure. I can hardly believe that we are only one size apart in jeans. It sort of blows my mind a little bit. So knowing that I had to go online and do a size comparison and found out that I am now a size 7/8. That is the weirdest thing I have ever seen in my entire life. In my eyes I still feel like I am a size 16/18 but I guess in the world of Miss Me I am a 7/8. Heck, I'll take it any day of the week!

My aunt passed away 2 years ago of complications resulting from alcoholism. She had WLS about 10 years ago, and i do believe it was the sleeve but not 100% on that. I'm not sure whether alcohol became her vice after surgery or whether it was a medley of issues (probably the later), but what i do know is that it all happened in a flash really. I mean, 8 years is a relatively short amount of time to drink yourself to death and i can't say that i believe having had the WLS wasn't a factor in the excellerated prgression of her disease. What i know is that we, people, while different on so many levels, all share a common problem that we have sought medical help for- our addiction to food. I can see how easy it could be to swap one bad habit for another. I love drinking and eating. Only 9 days post op and I am terrified of making poor choices again...food, drink, all.of it. At the same time, i have had.moments of fear that I'll never be able to indulge it all again. Also terrifying.
    That is all.

I must say that I drank to excess before surgery and always figured I was alcoholic; for the pre-surgery diet I just quit and really had no difficulties doing so; since then I had 2 drinks (before surgery) after work on the last day before our Christmas shutdown, and nothing since surgery. Again, it seems way too easy...always thought I would suffer more
The Dr. said my liver looked good except that it was very fatty...no cirrhosis thank God and good genetics!
I guess now thinking about adding 500+ calories daily of sugar back to my diet and most likely arresting my weight loss...after going thru what I have in the last few months seems a bit silly, so any thoughts of drinking are quickly vanquished by the urge to continue to drop weight every week.

Darn hit enter too soon and cannot edit on mobile. I was also going to add that for myself personally I am trying to hold off on drinking as long as possible. Right now at 4 weeks post op I am still dealing with head hunger and feeling like I still want to emotional eat. I am an ex smoker and now working on becomming an ex food addict. I do not want to fill the voids with alcohol, so for myself, I am choosing to hold off on alcohol until I can get my mental game to a much better place.

Thanks for the input ladies! I actually think it might be the pain meds judging from timing of their occurrence. Thyroid was fine a week ago per pre op blood panel and i still get periods like clockwork.
I'm still in quite a bit of pain on day 4 so I'll just have to suck up the flashes i think.

Mine and most do it to shrink the liver to aid in the process of lifting the liver during the surgery to get to the stomach better. I know from past health issues I have a fatty liver so as much as I complain I'm glad to be doing this, it's my detox. That being said each surgeon is different some don't see a difference in the time on the liquid diet, some do. I know the day before surgery I go from liquids to just Clear Liquids and then have to do my bowel prep. Which is the cherry on this hell cupcake! Ha ha ha

redemmy got a reaction from HapyTrls in 2 weeks until surgery and nervous and excited all at the same time
Jan 28 is my date and I'm totally psyched! However, i am nervous about how my small children will acclimate to my strange eating habits and not being able to pick them up for a month (they are 2 and 4). We're not hiding anything from them, but especially the 2 year old will not understand. Anyone else have little ones?
