  1. I never had heartburn until after my surgery (May 3, 2018). I was on a prescription but they had to change it because it wasn’t for long term use. My new prescription was working but now I seem to have heartburn pains. I had started Plexus products and that was fine at first too then the heartburn came back with a vengeance. My husband was using Plexus as well and told me that he had been having heartburn problems since taking Plexus. We both quit a few days ago and his heartburn has gone away. Mine has not though. I get a weird pain in the center of my chest when I eat (not all the time but most of the time) and I have to wait before I eat more bites (if I even do continue to eat). I am very worried that there is something wrong with my sleeve. The only thing I’m doing different now is taking my prescription in the morning when the directions said to take it at bedtime. I switched to morning when the heartburn got worse. I am planning on taking it tonight as directed and to continue to take it at night. My sleeve was a revision from lap band that slipped twice. I have been so careful with this sleeve and now this!! I am so stressed out about it!! Please let me know your symptoms for heartburn after sleeve. Please let me know if anyone else has had these problems (whether with or without Plexus products). I am going to call my doctor on Monday to see what they recommend. My doctor is 3 hours away so it is a drive if I need to be seen.

    Severe Gerd?

What are y’all’s symptoms? I never had heartburn until after my surgery (May 3, 2018). I was on a prescription but they had to change it because it wasn’t for long term use. 3. I need to find a doctor who does fills/follow ups who is located near Marathon, Florida or Key West. I am moving there this summer and was banded on December 7, 2015. I have had my first fill (last week) and will be able to go to my current practice through the end of June. I am trying to go ahead and find a doctor before I move so I don't have to travel back to Georgia for fills. Miami is about 2 1/2 hours from my home in Marathon so I was looking for somewhere closer than Miami. Thanks!
  4. Bel, kiba78 is right...it will be fine. I was really stressed, worried, excited too but everything was great and is getting better. I kept telling myself that "tomorrow will be a better day" and it was. I go for my post-op on January 6 and I'm feeling the same as right before my surgery. I am eager to see what happens next. Good luck and keep up all posted!! Kiba78, how are you doing?
  5. I have actually been able to start sleeping on both sides as of this week. It was SO nice to be able to sleep that way instead of propped up on my back. I'm still fighting this cold but other than that, things seem to be going great. I am sore around the port area also. It just seems much more tender there than in the other places but that also seems to be improving. I worked this week too and am off the rest of the week. My boys and I are flying to Florida on Saturday morning (our flight leaves Atlanta at 7 A.M.) to go spend four days with my husband. We are currently living in different states (me in Georgia and him in the Florida Keys). The boys and I are planning on moving there this upcoming summer. We were "delayed" due to my ex-husband who is taking me to court to make me pay for all of his expenses relating to visitation with my 12 year old son. Right now I cannot move because of a standard court order for all types of domestic-related cases that says that the child cannot be moved out of state unless approved by a judge. My ex is not asking to prevent my move, only for me to pay all of the visitation expenses. He even stopped paying his child support in June (he was not given permission by either me or a judge to stop paying so he is in contempt of court right now). So, for now, the boys and I are Southwest Airlines best customers and our stress level is kinda high. It has made this whole experience with my lap band very interesting. My husband wants to be here to help and wanted to be there to help after my surgery but he couldn't. We have a family business in Marathon, Florida (a bait and tackle shop) and he had to be there to run the store. This will be the first time he will see me after the surgery. I have lost weight since the surgery so I'm eager to see what he thinks. I will be even more eager for the next time since I should have had my first fill when he sees me again. It will probably be a month or more after that fill (January 6) before he sees me. He loves me just the way I am so I know he will still love me when I have lost more weight. I am extremely lucky to have him and to have his full support, especially since I was a self-pay. He had no problem with me spending that money as long as it was what I wanted and it would make me feel better. Okay, wow!! I got WAY off topic. Sorry. I hope everyone has a very blessed and Merry Christmas!! It is great to hear how everyone is doing on this journey!! Thanks for sharing.
  6. kiba78, Things are improving here with the exception of a nasty cold I got from my 12 year old son. I'm moving easier (I actually worked all this past week) and other than being tired things are great. I'm still really not that hungry and can be pretty satisfied with liquids. I start soft foods Monday. How are you doing?
  7. I'm nearly three weeks post-op and I have gotten the nasty could, cough, and congestion that my two boys have had. I have not had a fill yet but did have a hiatal repair when I had my surgery. Everything was going good until now. I feel miserable from these "cold" symptoms. I bought a liquid Robitussen that isn't really working. I used to take Mucinex but don't know if I can still take that but in liquid form (did I mention I hate liquid medicines?). What do you take for these symptoms that works? What for the daytime when I have to work and what at nighttime when I don't have about drowsiness? I'm going out of town for Christmas so I need to be better before then.

    Pain!

I was banded on December 7, 2015 and had a hernia repair. How long does the pain from this last? I think it may be worse than the actual band/port placement. It hurts even when taking very small sips. My vision is also pretty messed so I've got added frustration.
  9. Thanks for the thoughts, prayers, and wishes. I am home and am in pretty good shape. I am a bit uncomfortable but not enough to make me want to take my pain medication. I have been sitting on my couch and have not "tackled" the bed yet. My bed is kinda high so I'm saving that fun for later tonight. I don't think I'm hungry (sometimes it feels like I might be, but I think that is probably the gas pains). GasX Strips seem to work. I had several in recovery because of some discomfort and needed a little bit of pain meds there, but haven't needed anything since then (I got out of recovery and got home around 1:00-1:30 P.M. and I had an hour and a half drive home. I had to be there at 8:00 and am not really sure what time they took me to the operating room. Good luck to everyone else!! It will be a "breeze" for everyone and well worth any discomfort for the positive changes to come.

    December Banders Where Are You?

I just got "banded" today. My appointmet was 0800 hours this morning and I was home just after 1:00 P.M. (I had about an hour and a half drive). I'm pretty slow moving, but I'm moving. I can't wait to see the changes in the coming weeks!! Make sure you have the GasX strips. I can definitely feel the gas in my stomach and arms/shoulders areas. Not enough for me to take my pain medication, but a little bit uncomfortable. I'm walking 10 minutes every hour and although uncomfortable (probably from the gas pain), I am able to do it with relative ease. Good luck on your surgery!!!
  11. Sun Godess and kilba78, Surgery is tomorrow for me at 8:00. I am really excited but also nervous. I have told very few people (my husband, my Mom, my five closest friends and a co-worker who monitors leave time--I trust her). I work in law enforcement and people are EXTREMELY judgmental about physical appearance. I have tried to lose this excess weight for several years. I had great success with Weight Watchers several years ago and lost 80 pounds. I re-gained 20 of those pounds and have not been able to lose them since despite how good I ate or how much I worked out. I would track everything I ate, including condiments. The harder I tried the less I would lose. I have lost and regained the same five pounds over and over again. Before the re-gain, I still had more weight to lose to be at a healthy weight. The people who are the most judgmental are the ones who have never had trouble with either losing weight or may not have ever had a weight problem. They can eat anything they want and still maintain a good weight. They think that surgery is the "easy way out" and that I am not "committed" enough to losing weight so it is my fault that I haven't lost. They don't see the struggle and the very determined efforts I have made over the last few years. One of the friends I have told is going through process but is having the sleeve. She is doing her sleep study tomorrow and, if her process goes as quickly as mine, she should have surgery within the next three weeks. I also did not want the sleeve. For some reason that just sounded too drastic for me (not to mention permanent). At least with the band, if there were any unexpected medical problems down the road, the band could be "let out" and then "refilled" when I was better. I'm very healthy other than being overweight so I don't expect any medical problems, but you never know what the future holds. I know that my weight loss with the band won't be as rapid as with the sleeve, but I am okay with that as long as I am losing weight. I know someone who had the band just over a year ago and she has lost over 100 pounds. I do know that she has lost this weight and has not exercised at all. I will be exercising so I do expect success. I exercised before this and will continue afterwards. I run/walk (in an attempt to transition to just running) and was doing that at least three times a week before my thyroid was removed on April 1, 2015. I am not fast or graceful, but I am out there trying. I have done 5Ks and want to do more but want to do them quicker. I hope that this weight coming off will help me get better and more motivated. I am on day two of my Clear liquids diet. I went grocery shopping yesterday and got prepared for this upcoming week. I also printed the December calendar and wrote on it what I could eat each week so I could pre-plan for my meals and what I would need to buy before those weeks. I did buy unflavored Isopure Zero Carb Protein powder yesterday and tried it last night. I have used unflavored unjury in the past and liked it. The Isopure was good too. I mixed it in broth from chicken noodle Soup and it mixed very well. I could not taste it in the broth. The Unjury is the same way for me. I bought the Isopure because I didn't plan things good enough and could not get the Unjury before I needed it. The bonus of the Isopure is that I was able to get a 3 pound container so it will last longer. I was also able to buy it at a store so I saved on shipping costs. I have to go work a very short job today (directing traffic for a church) but other than that I am just going to drink my meals and impatiently wait on tomorrow morning. I just want this journey to begin. Sorry for such a long post but it is so awesome to be able to "talk" about all of this with people who are going through the same feelings and emotions as I am.
  12. My pre-op diet was pretty good. Portions were probably too big but the food I ate was basically the good stuff.
  13. kiba78, I was a nervous wreck too. My appointment went great. My pre-op diet starts tomorrow and then on Saturday and Sunday it's only Clear liquids and no solid foods. The next two days are Protein shakes for two meals and lean protein and veggie for the third meal. I won't know until Friday the time of my surgery. I can't wait until Monday. I will be a bundle of emotions until then. Good luck on your pre-op tomorrow!!
  14. I just got my pre-op appointment and my surgery date. My pre-op is this Wednesday, December 2, 2015 and my surgery date is Monday, December 7th (no time yet). EEEEEKKKKKK!!!! Now I am a BUNDLE of nerves, excitement, anxiety, nerves, excitement, anxiety (well, you get the picture). This just became real!! Any advice from any one? I have been so impatient about getting these appointments and now they're here. My journey/adventure is about to begin.....
  15. Thanks for your reply. I will go to a different office for my pre-op and my surgery. I did talk to them a few days ago and they getting a phone call to schedule but I haven't. I guess I am just REALLY impatient and want to get started. Maybe I should just find my patience and wait for that phone call.
