Anilyn got a reaction from Twinkle Toes in June Surgery
@@Lemm61 I hope it's smooth sailing going forward.
My update is that I am home as well after surgery on thursday. I've had some waves of pain here and there. It is much harder being home than I thought.
And I think I am kind of in denial that I've done this. So weird!

@@Anilyn where in Ontario are you? I'm in Ottawa. I started my Optifast this past Monday and I've lost almost ten pounds. I can't recommend Decaf instant coffee highly enough to flavour your shakes! It really helps mask the flavour and smell.

Anilyn got a reaction from foxhound1214 in June surgery
Mine is June 2. I don't really have many fears. I am trying to get stuff in order just in case I die but that's more concern about the people I leave behind.
I am worried about the emotional part after. As it is I struggle with depression and anxiety that is currently well managed. I keep telling myself that is a small part of the bigger picture.

Anilyn got a reaction from OKCPirate in Prepping for a 5k
I'm scheduled to have my surgery on June 2. If all goes well, do you think it would be possible to run a 5k at the end of September. I would follow c25k.
A really cool race has come up that I want to do.

Thanks. I'm 250 and don't really exercise right now. My brain says no. But the inner runner wants to break out.

Anilyn reacted to JamieLogical in Beginners Guide to Running for the Obese
The first time I started running I was probably around 250? But that was starting out just running 1 minute at a time. And I use the term "running" very loosely. More like a very slow jog....

Anilyn got a reaction from CHM in Question for those who've chosen not to share their WLS
I initially planned to tell my husband, mom, and sister. Then I was having second thoughts so I toyed with the idea of waiting until after surgery to tell my mom and sister.
But there have been a couple of conversations since and I hated being evasive so I shared.
I won't be telling coworkers and possibly the only other family member will be my brother.
This is a big deal. It's up to you and your comfort zone.

@@Anilyn -- It seems to me that what you began with here is what you should be saying to your husband. What strikes me in particular is that he's on board for the most part and that you don't want to be seen as your history. You need him to have faith in you so that he can cheerfully support you along the way. You need the same faith in yourself. Yes, it's possible to regain weight lost after surgery. All things are possible, nothing is guaranteed. In the case of surgery, it's up to each of us to eliminate the probability.
You might also invite your husband to attend some support group meetings with you. Some time ago a woman I met in the lapband group brought her husband a few times. She had his whole-hearted support. What he didn't quite get but wanted to understand was the emotional part of her particular journey. He was terrific. He'd introduce himself with the addendum, "I'm the hus-bander."
