lashawna1991 reacted to GibbsGirl in Feeling Kinda Hopeless!
It's so hard. We all have been there or going there. The idea is practice and of course improving your health for surgery. You know about shrinking your liver for safety and all the justifications.
We all fall of the wagon, I had thoughts of I will never have this again. That is so not true, I may never have that amount again or may not want it again.
Don't beat yourself up, just do better. Be able to identify what is triggering you, nerves are normal.
Head up, march forward!!! Counseling is never a bad idea even just a few visits to work through your nerves.

Anyone else feeling discouraged because you just cant eat better? I am about a month away from my surgery, and I keep doing the things I KNOW I shouldn't. I got to a support group a couple of times a month but it seems everyone just says how good they are doing. I am putting forth an effort, but am I supposed to change all the ways I am eating? I am not on the pre-op diet yet. I know I will do it when I HAVE to. I am rambling, maybe its just nerves since I finally have a surgery date! We had to do a six month pathway to get our dates. (April 11, 2016). Please no rudeness! Thanks yall!

I wouldn't take dating advice from a man that cheated on his last wife with his current wife.
I read the book out of curiosity and it might work if you are over 50 and don't use the Internet or date men that use the Internet but other than that it is really outdated.
The only thing worth taking from the book is that women need to know their value, but you can learn that anywhere and hopefully have learned it by high school.

I take Bariatric Advantage chewables. They are fruit flavored.

I take the Celebrate Bariatric Vitamins in berry flavor and I actually like them. I also take the Bariatric Advantage calcium citrate in chocolate flavor and they are pretty good too.

Good luck with your journey. I am a month postoperative and 35#down. I feel the sleeve has given me the edge I needed. I simply ate too fast and too much of all the right foods.

Sorry you might need a new pcp. Mine was the one who encouraged me to have surgery. You need support not negativity during this time.

I'm 6.5 months and 82lbs down. I went for my 6 months follow up Friday and the dr was very pleased. He feels like I should more than reach my goal by 1 year out.

lashawna1991 reacted to JupiterinVirgo in Three Months Post Op Success
I only weigh in at the surgeons office, so as not to lose my mind, and today was my three month check up.
I wasn't expecting that much. From inside my body it is not easy for me to tell by eye whether I'm losing weight.
I was worried Bc instead of following a plan, I eat intuitively, and my diets consists mostly of cheese, nuts and fruits, with a bit of meat here and there. I don't count or track; I just follow my body and let my sleeve measure my food intake.
I have not had to throw away my whole wardrobe so I just didn't know if I was doing the right things.
But...
I'm down 60 pounds in three months! Closer to 75-80 total.
I'm so happy!
Thank you for celebrating with me.

Not sure which surgery you had but if it was bypass sausage might be very difficult.
I did great with chicken and fish those first months post surgery. The trick is to not overlook your meats so they are delicious and juicy. Also very important that you use a low fat sauce of some sort with meats, it will help it to slide down.
For chicken breast I would season lightly, sear in a small amount of olive oil and pop it in the oven until just cooked through. You can add a marinara sauce or a healthy request cream of mushroom Soup or a fat free chicken gravy if you don't know how to make it.

Maybe I am too conservative
..but if you are just transitioning to solid food and this is first meat to try...not sure I would go sausage. We are all different but I am a sleever and my newborn tummy was a bit delicate... I would start with small quantities of something very mild like perhaps a white fish like tilapia.

Tomorrow I'm going to start my turkey sausage!! Can I just slice take skin off then put in the pan and fry it with a lil olive oil. Boil it? Throw in oven? Lol I haven't tried tuna or chicken yet. So not sure do you guys cook it a different way!! May try scallops or fish as well undecided what to experiment first with!! Tomorrow will be one month for me and I'm Down 34 pounds woohoo!! So I am 42 pounds til I am 199!!

lashawna1991 reacted to MichiganChic in I'm scheduled for a DS but might change my mind.
I'm not 5 years out, but I am three years. It took me about 14 months to lose 145 pounds, and I've kept it off for nearly 2. I'm happy with my success. I have to work hard to maintain it, but it is doable. For it me it was the right choice, and I wouldn't have wanted a DS because of the greater malabsorption associated with it. At this point, I am pretty much normal, and can eat pretty much normal food in small but normal quantities. I definitely have to watch it, but so worth it!
