Maybe I'm the odd ball out but to tell someone that I've lost 100 LBS makes me feel very proud. Heck, especially since I have only lost 30 lbs since surgery. Losing weight is not an easy thing, however you do it. What people don't realize about having surgery is that it is not easy and it is not a quick fix. There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Own your weight loss and be proud. While it is absolutely no one's business unless you choose to make it their business, I don't think any of us have anything to be ashamed of.

Those of you who think people can't possibly gain all their weight back because thier stomachs are smaller are either in denial or are woefully misinformed. Or both. I mean, how many in this forum alone know someone who gained all their weight back after WLS?

My doc, Dr Duc Voung, wrote a great book for sleevers: Ultimate Gastric Sleeve Success. In it he talks about the 21 day exception where you choose 21 days out of the year, where you may not eat totally on plan because life happens and you cannot be perfect all the time. He instructs us to eat the most nutritious food we can most of the time, knowing there will be exceptions. We can't eat like that every day and expect to be successful, but we can't always be perfect. So brush it off and don't beat yourself up, you can get back on track tomorrow.

A salad doesn't have to have lettuce. It can be your favorite fresh veg and Protein. Some days I do cucumbers, tomatoes and a black Beans for a salad. Add a bit of finely diced jalepenos for a bit of zip.

I ate Smart Puffs one night on my pre-surgery diet and then my next memorable cheat was at about 3 months when I ate chocolate, unapologetically, the entire Christmas season of 2013. January 1 I was right back on the wagon, but yes, I was a chocolate pig for about three weeks when I really should not have been. Oh..and I did it again this Christmas, lol. I didn't gain weight either time and I kept it to only the holidays, so am I looking forward to Christmas 2015? Oh yes I am, t-minus six months until I am going to enjoy chocolate cake, Cookies, ice cream, and candy. Until then though, I will sit here and eat my turkey roll-up.

Squirt cheese is a life saver for me. Just a tiny squirt and it takes care of the salty taste I miss!!!

Potato chips. I was in my puree phase, and my boyfriend left his bag of chips in the kitchen. They were talking to me and I listened. I only had a small handful, and I let them get all mushy in my mouth, and they tasted sooooo good. However, Miss Tummy punished me for hours. I learned my lesson.

5 day ouch reset was a game changer for me. I feel like I've gone back to very early restriction levels. Give it a shot.

I haven't posted in a couple of weeks, things are hectic here at home, wife was hired for her new job and she is starting her career, halfway point to get her Masters, she will have it in September 2016, and I've given a months notice at work, my last day is December 31st, and I become a full time dad, we went on our first Christmas vacation ever to Celebrate and ended up splurging on my wife to get all her work clothes, she wanted to treat me to a night out but when I saw her I was very nervous, it was like when we first met, she looked beautiful, and she hadn't seen me in my new clothes yet, I started this journey in January @ 388lbs, my surgery was on June 10th and I weighed 342.2lbs, my Surgerversity was on December 10th, and on the 12th I weighed 267lbs, I used to be a size 60w, my new pants were a size 48w and my shirt was a 3x( now a 2x since it was loose) the pic where I'm holding our baby I was 367lbs and all subsequent pics were between 350-388lbs, so was it worth it ???? Hell yes, my other pic is my wife in her new clothes and me @ my current weight, I can see and feel a tremendous difference and it makes me wanna work even harder.......

I'm not trying to sound mean but why is it that people try to keep this a secret? Once the weight starts dropping it's going to be obvious. If this partner is what you say they are just be honest.

Week 4 post op, I am outside in my driveway cleaning the interior of my car and I stand up to get out of the car and my pants just fall right down. Belt and all. It was pretty funny and I am glad not many people were outside. These are always funny stories, good for you for taking it in stride.

Everyone shares their NSV's on here ... which are so incredible to read ...
But I have to share one of mine from last Saturday night ...
It was the office Christmas party ... and in the past ... I didn't like to attend ... because of my weight ...
I know, I know ... stupid reason ... but ... you all know where I'm coming from ...
    So this year ... I didn't mind going ...
It was at a local sports bar/pub kinda place ...
And I was drug up ON STAGE to sing Karaoke !!!!
    ME!!!
And I actually liked it !
So much so ... I did it 5 times and had a ball !
There are so many positives to losing weight ... and coming "out of my shell" is definitely one of them
I'm the girl who always sat in the back ... hid from everything ... always told my husband "I can't" ...
    Well now ... I CAN ! I finally CAN !
    Thank you Surgery Gods !

seaux_beautiful_vsg got a reaction from lauriev in time it takes to eat
Some days I eat way too fast and my body says "NO, don't do that." and it hurts... badly... so I try to eat and read a book, put the fork or spoon down, read a few pages, take another bite... THAT helps me to eat a whole lot slower.

I was fortunate not to ever have a LOT of pain. The drugs in the hospital after surgery were awesome lol. I was up walking around that evening. The only time I had pain to speak of was when I first tried to lay down flat. That was a pain straight from Satan himself.

I've noticed it drives them crazy too. Which is why I don't want to get into the habit... especially weighing in the morning since that can set the tone for the day.

Pre-op we were instructed to practice eating slowly, at least 30 mins on each meal. My first egg post op took an hour to eat. Even now I consciously make an effort to eat slowly, at least 15 -20 mins. I think it helps give my body time to send the signal to my brain that I am full.

If you are having trouble eating slowly, try using a toddler spoon or appetizer spoon. If you don't have one, use the very tip of a teaspoon. Put your spoon down between each bite and chew. Even if it's purée or soft, try to chew your food.
The bonus to learning to eat slowly is that you get to taste your food longer.
I was always a fast eater so learning to eat slowly and mindfully is a challenge.

I am squarely in the camp of weighing less often. Early out I only weighed at Doctor's appointments (mostly because I was too large for my scale at home so it never gave an accurate reading). That was a great habit to get into.
I have noticed that for many people, weighing frequently drives them crazy. For me, weighing daily would give me no actionable information so I don't do it.

I'm just one week post op. I've weighed myself 3 times since surgery but plan to only do weekly going forward. I know someone who had RNY and weighed herself daily! For me it's not all about the number. Is about the way I feel and the way I perceive myself. I have chronic back and leg problems so getting the weight off will hopefully save me from having to have multiple epidural steroid injections each year.
