    Stuck

I was exercising a lot and not eating but about 1000 calories a day. When I added 300-500 calories on the days that I worked out, I dropped three pounds the first week.

Alcohol post op:it's possible? When, how much?

I wouldn't call it a generalization. I belong to a support group where half have gained weight and they have all put alcohol back in their diet. Four of them have taken it back out and gotten back to the rules the doctor gave them and they are losing again. That seems more like a control group to me. There is a reason why doctors tell you to abstain from certain things. After WLS you do not metabolize food like you used to. Alcohol is empty calories. 1.5 ounces of hard liquor has about 100 calories, if you are only eating 1000-1200 calories a day that's a big percentage of your calories. Alcohol is basically a type of sugar and it slows down a patient’s weight loss and may cause dumping syndrome. It contains lots of calories and is no nutritional value. After surgery, alcohol enters the blood stream more quickly than before surgery. The intoxicating effects of alcohol occur sooner than before surgery and after smaller amounts are ingested. A patient who has had the sleeve or bypass surgery absorbs FOUR times as much alcohol from a given drink versus before surgery. And lastly it can be irritating to the stomach pouch and cause ulcers. Again, knowing what we know, for me, it's not worth the risk. Been through too much to get where I am.

Every person I know that put alcohol back into their diet after surgery gained weight back. It's just not worth it to me.

    Drinking and eating...

Actually it is because you need to get your protein in first and not fill up on liquids. Your stomach capacity has been greatly reduced and it is very important that you get your food in. If you've had GSV then it has nothing to do with the band.

    Transdermal Multi Vitamin Patches

No vitamins are actually tested by the FDA so you can say that you don't know what you're absorbing by taking pills either. That's why your doctor should do labs to see. I've been using the patches for three months and just had labs done last week. They all came back perfect!

    Stuck for 3 months

What are you eating? Are you tracking your food. I had mine on 10/12 and have lost a little over 40. 10lbs a month is good depending on how much you have to lose. Are you eating a bunch of carbs? I would do a few days of liquids to reset yourself.

    3 months out and cheating

No. Just get back on the wagon. As long as you didn't over eat, you should be okay.

You know you lost weight when

When the smallest size at the plus size store is too large for you!

    Shape wear

I buy spans and I usually get them from eBay. Target has a brand called assets that are made by spanx.
  14. Take a deep breath and do not step on that scale for at least a week. Plateaus happen and it is not unusual to plateau at 4 weeks. Your body is going through a major adjustment. Just keep following the plan. I too have an unhealthy relationship with my scale. I plateaued at 4 weeks and didn't lose a pound for 3 weeks. I know what you are feeling. It does end, and then the weight just starts falling off. Make sure you're getting your Protein and your Water and walk as much as possible and DO NOT step on that scale.

Sleeved October 12...I found that when I'm dehydrated I get nauseous. I'm on soft food and it is so hard to get protein and my daily water in. I found that my vitamin was also making me nauseous so I ordered them multi vitamin patch from patched.com.

    Wine

My surgeon and nutritionist said to wait 6 mos but waiting year would be even better. Alcohol burns like sugar and your stomach is so small you will now be what he called a "cheap drunk".
