Drinking and eating...

Why is it suggested not to drink while eating? I'm currently having a baked chicken leg for dinner and I'm thirsty. I believe the rule is to wait 30min before you drink. Is this true? Why?

Hi there it's so you don't interfere with the way the band works.. Drinking Water when eating lets the food go through too quickly... It doesn't allow stimulation of the vagus nerve which is a huge part of how the process works. U should have a drink ten mins b4 and then wait for 30 mins after

Actually it is because you need to get your protein in first and not fill up on liquids. Your stomach capacity has been greatly reduced and it is very important that you get your food in. If you've had GSV then it has nothing to do with the band.

And also so you don't wash foods through your pouch too fast, thereby allowing you eat more than you should.
