  1. It is a huge struggle for the first couple days as your body adjusts to the changes. Once you get past the carb withdrawal (4-5 days) it gets soooo much easier! I liked to microwave a couple sugar free Popsicles to get them a little soft and slushie and eat them with a spoon for a treat when I was on the pre op diet. It was a nice treat! Best of luck to you!!
  2. I am four weeks post op and I felt very emotional the first few weeks. Still do occasionally. What helped for me was talking to my therapist. She reminded me that my body has undergone huge changes and that tends to throw your hormones out of whack...we decided it was similar to PMS. Couple that with being tired and weak from surgery and lack of food and add in the fact that you're probably more isolated from other people right now and realize that the depression is so normal given the circumstances. You are not going to feel like a million dollars right now but keep in mind that you WILL, promise!

    Liver shrinking diet.. Help!

I really struggled my first few days of the pre op diet too. I highly recommend sugar free Popsicles if you are allowed! It does get easier, by day five I felt really really good and I think it was the improved diet that made me feel so good, so just push through the next couple days and look forward to the good days ahead[emoji2]

    Smells

OMG I am in the same boat. Can't go anywhere. My family smells "onion-y". I'm looking for solutions too.

Band our sleeve in on 3/30

Just had surgery on 3/2...your drainage tube can be fairly discreet, but if it is still in you aren't going to want to go anywhere. Dodgers game might be possible after 16 days depending on how young you are and how well you bounce back. For me, I have been cold all of the time since my surgery, then again, I am from Michigan. I would say the 10k is out of the question, this is major surgery...your body needs time to recover!! Good luck with your surgery[emoji846]
  6. Hi everyone! I am roughly ten days post op and in need of some advice and/or encouraging words to push me through these last days of the full liquid diet. I'm growing so tired of protein drinks, carnation instant breakfast, broth and jello. Please tell me there are some other things I can eat that I haven't thought of!

    1st time eating

Oh I don't want to be in pain. I just don't know if I should expect to feel no pain or if I should tolerate a little discomfort. Am I making sense or am I needlessly trying to be a tough girl?

    1st time eating

What have you been taking for the pain? I did morphine and torodal (sp?) yesterday. Still feel like I need it but don't want to be a whiny baby in here.

    1st time eating

Hi! I had my surgery March 1st too. I'm not able to eat until later today but that doesn't even sound good right now. How are you feeling? On day two I feel headachy and a little crampy which must be the gas.

    MARCH SLEEVERS?

March 2nd is/was my day too and I'm a Tyler's mom too! How are u feeling?

    MARCH SLEEVERS?

I am on day 8 of the pre-surgery diet. I was struggling ALOT during the first two days. I was hungry and tired and cold and lost without my food for comfort. Day three I took the day off work to regroup and rethink how I was going to get through the remaining seven days and I really started to turn around from there. By day six, I felt fabulous, I think because of the improvement in the quality of what I am putting into my body. Now I only have two days left until surgery and I don't feel the struggle at all! Hang in there Vernelly, it DOES get better! [emoji6]
  14. Gotta love my 140 lb. mom...when I told her I was having surgery she said, "I want to have it with you, how did you get approved?" Then she said, "I don't know why you think you need it, you look nice". So I look nice at 312 lbs, and she needs wls at 140? No wonder I have weight issues.
  15. So I'm getting sleeved in nine days, just started the pre op diet today, and I find myself so emotional. It's normal I know but I can't just fall apart now and stuffing it down with food is no longer an option. Anyone have some ideas about what to do with these emotions?
