Congratulations on the beginning of your fantastic journey!
Complications are rare during surgery. You will get wheeled to the OR and within seconds you will be under and the next second you'll wake up!
When I woke up, I was amazed it was over. Literally a blink of the eye!
Good luck and best wishes. You will be fine!

I guess I'm an occasional lurker. I had surgery almost 6 months ago on May 4th. The first month was really hard but once I got back on solid foods I haven't had any problems. My initial start weight at consultation was 270 pounds. Day of surgery I was about 248. Today I am at 185 pounds a total loss of 85 pounds! I think the weight loss has finally slowed down a bit since I haven't lost anything for about 3 weeks or so. I am enjoying the new ways I eat. I eat a lot of Protein as suggested by the doctor. I haven't had any problems eating anything. Right now chicken, fish, and turkey are the main things I eat with a vegetable side. Still working hard to get down to goal weight which is between 160 and 165. I am so glad I did this.

If God lead you to it, God will get you through it! I prayed leading up to this and always had a deep peace about it even when I was freaking out with the surface emotions.

Ride my bicycle to work. It is only 5.2 miles one way but it really is uphill both ways. Downhill to the river, uphill to the office. Downhill to the river, uphill home. As crazy as it sounds, I've always wanted to do a one handed push up and do a push up so fast that I can clap before putting my hands back down.

To not be embarrassed all the freaking time.
To not spend half my time in public worrying about getting up from the chair/couch/floor without making a scene.
    To shop in "regular stores"
To take the stairs and not feel like I'm going to pass out after a single flight.
To fly without a seatbelt extender.
To save a ton on groceries and eating out (and put that towards new clothes ????)
    To be happier!

    Some things I can't wait for post-op:
Wearing clothes that I love and not just what fits (and let's be real, paying a premium for plus size clothes sucks!) Shopping anywhere I want! Fitting into airplane seats/amusement park rides without fear Not being the 'fat mom' or 'fat friend' Relieving pressure from my ankles and knees so I can run another half marathon Being a healthy example for my two little girls Keeping up with my husband NO MORE GERD! My list is pretty endless but those are the top for now

!) Seeing anything but "E" on my scale
    2) Not being terrified of Metal/Plastic/camping chairs! I have had one break underneath me at a family reunion--not fun.
    3) Being able to find clothes nearly anywhere and not having to pay extra for a little more fabric.
    4) Being able to have my sprained ankle heal
    5) Getting rid of my joint pain
    6) Not being sweaty all the damn time and get rid of my chronic chaffing/rashes!
    7) Being able to marry my wonderful fiancee without feeling insecure on one of the best days of our lives.
    8) Spending less on Groceries!!!!!
    9) Waking up energized- feeling more energized throughout the day.
    10) Avoiding as many health problems as I possibly can.
    11) Being able to have a much healthier pregnancy when the time is right.
    12) Not having to say "I can't right now, I'm in so much pain" when my Fiancee wants to take a long trail walk with me.
    13) Not have people overlook me for opportunities- jobs, friends, etc.
    14) The Pride! Knowing that I did what was best for me, and I gave it my all.
I could keep going, but i will save you guys! lol

These are all great things to look forward to. I think my top five are:
    1. Having more energy to keep up with my three boys and husband
    2. No more GERD!
    3. No seat belt extenders on an airplane (I travel to FL once or twice a year to see my best friends and dread it every time!)
    4. Buying smaller clothes and not having to shop at Lane Bryant where you leave broke nine times out of ten.
    5. food. I don't care what my first bite of real food will be, or how small my portion is - one bite is better than 0! (can you tell I'm tired of liquid diets already, and I'm still pre-op?? LOL
So happy for everyone and wish everyone the best of luck on their WLS journeys!! xo

Arthritis pain in knees easing up
    Back pain diminishing
Cleaning out my closet of all the oversized clothes that are temporarily in there
    Having active hobbies
Air travel with much greater ease....just complaining over legroom
Perhaps a new car once I reach goal

Can't wait to come home and not be glued to the couch all night due to lack of energy.
Never been a runner, but for some reason I want to be able to run for exercise.
    Stop wearing sleep apnea mask!
Cross my legs, don't ever recall being able to do so.
Not worrying about fitting in booths or how sturdy outdoor furniture is.
Shopping in normal size clothing stores and not paying $60 for a pair of pants.
Being able to ride at amusement parks. I live 30 minutes from hershey park, plan on getting a season pass next year!
Not feeling like everyone is looking at you when you're in public.
Having my husband and son benefit from the new healthily eating and getting them more active with me.
Actually being in photos instead of always taking them.
Many more that I can't think of right now. I see July 24 as the start of many good changes to come

I can't wait to finally see the "me" that my husband sees Taking control of this part of my life feels very empowering and I'm excited that the self-sabotaging thoughts about my weight won't get in the way of seeing the real me any more!
    ....and shopping for new clothes!!

    1. Having the energy to chase after my kids!
    2. Smaller clothes. Going shopping with friends and family members has always made me uncomfortable, because none of the clothes would fit me. I was just along for the show! I want to be able to wear those clothes, own those clothes, and be freakin amazing in those clothes!!!
    3. Not having to squeeze myself into my jeans, because I refuse to buy the next size up!
    4. Riding rides and not having to have someone come by and help me to latch the harness, and being terrified the whole time that the seat belt will break loose and I will fall to my doom!
    5. Two piece bathing suit! I want to be able to wear a two piece bathing suit and be comfortable and feel attractive!
Those are just a few... I could probably go on and on!!!

When I was a little girl in England, watching all the cowboy shows on TV, I longed to be a cowgirl and ride the range. For my birthday next May when I'll be 10 months post-op I'm going on a group trail ride. I'll be up in the saddle!
(No experience needed, btw; the trail ride horses are trained to be idiot-proof.)
My husband bought me a little plastic horse that I'll take to the hospital with me in August - my symbol of everything I have to look forward to.

I have become and avid kayak-er since losing weight and my next venture is inside skydiving....and maybe just maybe some day an actual plunge from a Plane. If President Bush can do it at 90 than why not me?

My long term reward for goal that I set back in 2011 was a week at Disney World. That is now booked for December 6th through 13th of this year.
Goals and rewards are excellent motivators and you know what else? We're all worth it!!
