  4. My surgery date is November 28th and I have not lost anything, it's hard as hell to remain cigarette free cold turkey since Jan and loose weight at the same time, I'm addicted to Pasta and it has made my AIC (blood work to measure diabetes) go up from 5.8 to 7.8, I'm not happy with that I would like to walk more and eat smaller portions I pray and pray for the strength. Tomorrow is the day!

Hello everyone my sleeve date is November 28th and I'm scared as hell! Since I've been praying so long to be guided in the right direction and have decided to just give it to God and have stop worrying about it, does this mean I have no faith if I'm still worried after giving it to God? Sorry so long but I want to wish everyone good luck in their journey, Sent from my SM-G928T using the BariatricPal App
  10. Hello there, I just read your message and wanted to respond to your question, it may not help because I haven't had the surgery yet, I was diagnosed with it and was taking that combination of antibiotics 4 times a day for 10 days, I wasn't aware that there was a follow up appt. needed, something for me to look into, but I was just like you, I was scared and upset, thinking is this a sign from God that this isn't for me since I've only been praying forever to be led in the right direction to make the right decision, not sure if I'm not just looking for an excuse not to have it done, I'm scared, but everyone I've spoken to said they would do it all over again, sorry I'm rambling, but FYI all of those antibiotics gave me a terrible yeast infection LOL so be sure to request diflucan or something equivalent your going to need it, hopefully not, I hope that things work out for you.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know that I'm late in responding but this is awesome, how did you get rid of the excess skin? I believe I speak for a lot of women when I say "that's not fair", LOL you look great, maybe I don't even need the surgery, just you as a trainer LOL
  12. Hello everyone, first of all I would like to say that after all of the events Ive encountered lately that I'am still 3 months cigarette free (cold turkey) Yaay!!! , Ive had my initial consult with surgeon and dietician, my psych consult is May 10th, according to the dietician I should be writing down everything in my journal LOL that lasted all but 2 weeks, I have lost 8 pds. I even started that execise /dance program I just received called "Cize" its a cardio workout for sure, two days ago I fell and broke my ankle and is now in a boot, the pain is real, I sit and get more frustrated at my limitations, will this effect the fact that I'm suppose to loose 14% of my body weight? will they deny me for the surgery? and in actuality I'm still nervous about that as well, I will keep praying and hoping that the right decision will come to me, I admire all of you that have gone through it and have modified your lives to maintain. I wish I had a crystal ball LOL. a lot of people thinks that just because everything has been approved, that all I have to do is climb up on a operating table and "just get it done and over with" sorry its really not that easy, its truly a mental challenge. I'll tell you what though, at my next appointment I will totally refuse to get weighed with this heavy walking boot on, I will literally strip down LOL good luck and may God bless us all.
  13. Hello everyone, I have debated about this for so long, I have used so many excuses as to why I shouldn't have the surgery, from not being able to drink a full glass of water because I love water to I cant afford to get my clothes altered!! I stopped smoking cigarettes Jan. 26 of this year and have gained some additional weight, im currently 47 y/o 5'6 and weigh 287 pds. I sat down and took a long look at my 8 year old daughter one day and decided that I do want to be around a lot longer if its the Lords will, therefore; I mailed in the completed application that's been siting on my desk for about 3 months, didn't expect to get such a quick response (actually thought I had more time to find more excuses) LOL, my first visit to see surgeon and nutritionist is 4/12, honestly after seeing some of the horror stories online, im scared as hell!! I will keep praying for the right decision to face me at some point in time, anyways, anyone out there have any advice for last minute jitters? and what happens next after this appt. ? thanks in advance.

  15. Heillo everyone!, I was just on the site reading so many replies and testemonials, the before and after videos were a huge help, I was just wondering is there anyone out there that is a smoker and if so what were the guidelines prior to surgery and have your cigarette smoking habits changed at all, I have decided to go ahead and submit my application tomorrow, I figured thats I have nothing to loose and that perhaps the surgeon could give me more info. on helping me choose whats best for me. I wish you all the best of luck.

My initial consultation with my surgeon gave me the strength to quit. I had been trying halfheartedly, but realized that I was making one step to improve my health and I needed to quit smoking as well.I am now proud to say after 35 years of smoking I have quit for the past 3 weeks and I don't crave smoking.

      Good luck on your journey!

My surgeon won't do the surgery unless you can prove you've been cig free for 6 weeks (they check via bloodtest) because the risks of smoking before and after bariatric surgery include life-threatening ulcers. I would highly recommend quitting if you can!

You will have to quit and vow to never smoke again or the surgeon will not operate. It better for you in the long run anyway.

    Nervous to complete application

Good morning everyone, I would like thank you all for such wonderful and informative responses, this was exactly what I had in mind during my search for information and support, I really appreciate it, I wish you all the best of luck and loads of blessings during your journeys.
  17. Hello everyone, I'm new here to this site, I was looking for a site such as this because I have decided to have weight loss surgery, preferably the gastric sleeve, I have attended the seminar but have not completed and submitted my application, I have procrastinated on this for about a month or so, I'm nervous, I've seen several people at work have it done and the results are amazing, I'm very overweight with diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, I have used excuses such as; I don't have enough time to take off from work, to how will I care for my 8 year old daughter, I just wanted to know whether or not there is someone out there that in the same boat that I'm in, I know that there are great advantages to this, plus my insurance has already approved me, I've even used the excuse of having to get rid of all of the nice clothes a friend of mine gave me after having the surgery and loosing a lot of weight LOL I guess what I need to hear is a conversation from someone like me that can kick me into the start position, I have spoken to several people whom also informed me that I'm going to have a lot of excess skin that the insurance will not cover, so hopefully I can receive the encouragement that I need in order for me to start living a smaller healthier lifestyle and to be able to cross my legs like "skinny people" lol. thanks for listening.
