  1. Hi! My surgery date is on 11/4 and I am doing my pre-op diet now. I also work with kids- I am a school nurse- so I am praying that I do not get sick!
  2. I had to do the 6 month supervised diet. After that was complete, it was submitted and I had my approval in 2 days, though my surgery coordinator told me it could take up to 2 weeks.
  3. The unjury chicken Soup is good. There is also another chicken bouillon that I like- Health Wise chicken bouillon. It has 18g of protein/serving.
  4. Yay! Congratulations!
  5. Hi. My date is 11/4/15. I started liquid pre-op diet and Vitamins yesterday.
  6. Have you tried the just the Unjury Chocolate? I have both the regular chocolate and the chocolate splendor and right now I like the splendor better, maybe because it is sweeter? Just a thought.
  7. I agree with @Dub. I think if you had problems before surgery, they may get worse, not better after surgery and if you have a healthy relationship prior to surgery, surgery can make it stronger.
  8. It depends on your insurance- ask for the policy so that you can read/have it. With my particular plan, I had to do the 6 month diet AND at the end of it, my BMI still had to be 40 or 35 with comorbids- that is listed as a requirement, so if my BMI wasn't 40 or 35 w/comorbid (which I had) when my paperwork was submitted, I would have been denied per my insurance company. I was very worried about this, but my surgeon's office told me to maintain my weight, but do not gain during the 6 months. That is what I did and I am now approved and waiting for my surgery date of 11/4
  9. I feel the same way. I think (hope) it's normal. My surgery is 11/4 and I start my preop diet Weds too (10/21). Good luck to you
  10. Thanks for sharing! I start my preop diet on your surgery date- good luck to you. I have to use BA shakes also....gag!!
  11. I am also starting my preop diet next week (10/21) and I was told to start my Vitamins at that time. I am using vitamins I purchased from my surgeons office, as it was a program requirement. I am using Celebrate Multivitamin (pineapple/strawberry), Celebrate Iron (grape), and Celebrate B12 (cherry?), and Bariatric Advantage Calcium (caramel). My surgeons office carries BA and Celebrate. When I chose my vitamins, they asked me what flavor I wanted, not brand, so those where the brands I chose based on my flavor selection. I am required to take all of these vitamins. Oh, btw calcium is required, not recommended. I will be taking it 3 times a day.
  12. Yay!!! That's so exciting! And such a relief for you!
  13. Just an idea/option instead of going to the drive thru in a pinch, check your local gas station. I was pleasantly surprised to see that my local gas station (Quik Trip) has ready to drink Premier Protein shakes and a few others in the refrigerated section.
  14. My surgeon requires whey Protein isolate be the first ingredient in Protein Powder.
  15. I don't have Cigna, but have you asked for a copy of the policy? They should be able to provide you with it. With my insurance, the policy describes everything that is covered and the requirements. Based on what you said, it sounds like your insurance should cover it because the surgery is medically necessary (morbid obesity). My insurance won't cover diet clinics either, but I do have bariatric surgery coverage.
  16. I'm one of the ppl who called, lol. The first day I called I just (very politely) said I wanted to make sure my paperwork was received- which they said no it wasn't. So I called the next day, same thing- they said it was received this time so that calmed me down some. Then I made myself not call the next morning, but my coordinator called me around 1pm that day and told me I was approved! Call them!!
  17. I am going to be taking Celebrate multi, Bariatric Advantage chewable calcium, Celebrate Iron, and Celebrate B12. My dietician specifically told me not to use a Vitamin patch, she said they are not formulated for bariatric patients. I didn't push the issue because it isn't something I am interested in.
  18. Congrats! I can totally sympathize- I also started my process in April and found out my approval/date last week- November 4th. I was in shock with joy the first week, I kept saying "I just can't believe it!" Yesterday I started feeling really emotional about it- out of nowhere! I think it is just really hitting me that it's really going to happen and my life is going to change dramatically!
  19. I have BCBS also- one of the reps told me they do not have an online system to check status of approvals I told them other insurance companies do so they need to start working on it!
  20. Congrats! It's a great feeling to see that light at the end of the tunnel!
  21. I know how you feel. I was in the same boat until I found out that I had diabetes midway through my 6 month supervised diet. It is stressful!!
  22. Congrats! My approval was quick too- 2 days! My surgery date is also 11/4/15!!
