lili2333 got a reaction from Chrystee in Did anyone's spouse lose attractiveness when they got close to goal?
@@vsg and @@Babbs are literally the worst people on here. Only a certain kind of person responds to a problem with a brag. These two are consistently condescending humblebraggers who respond to people with either snark, "honesty" or condescension. Ignore them, they're clearly bottom dwellers in the real world but feel like Queen Bees here.
    Best of luck to you!

You are insufferable and your response offered zero help whatsoever. I've said it before and I stand by it, you are the worst.

You're the exact person I had in mind when I mentioned the judgemental people. This is why people can't feel comfortable sharing honest feedback. I never said that I know it all and I'm first to admit I've made mistakes but I don't give into it, I pick up and make better choices. 3-4 years from now you won't hear anything from me, thanks for proving my point. I don't believe alcohol helps you lose weight by any means but id be lying if I said I never drank since surgery. I was just sharing my experience I'm not here to tell anyone the right or wrong way to do things because I don't claim to have all the answers. But thanks for you criticism ????????

It does seem like you're irritated by a lot of people's issues on here lately... I'm of the opinion that any response is fine as long as it's delivered in a constructive and respectful way. I don't think calling people "immature" for their honest thoughts and experiences is okay. People make mistakes, no one is perfect. And we are entitled to our choices!!
Most of us here on BP are going through a life changing experience. It's an emotional roller coaster and I hope, at the very least, we can try to keep things kind and not judge.

I took off a week. Surgery was on a Tuesday and I went back on a Tuesday. Could have used and extra day but it definitely was not traumatic and it got me feeling back to normal.

I felt the exact same way! I'm 4 weeks out and feeling amazing now. The first 2 weeks were hard and so so long, but it does get better and you'll feel normal soon.

Congrats on the loss, lord knows it's hard, even with the surgery.
Im not sure how far out you are but I'm 3 weeks out and can barely make my goals, and they're not as aggressive as yours. My surgeon also just gives me a few minutes of his time to ask questions and then leaves the room, so I get the frustration.
BUT....this is YOUR STORY and YOUR BODY and as long as you're trying your best I'm sure you'll have a happy ending, like we all will. We need to be tough on ourselves but kind to ourselves and that's not easy!
    Good luck to you!

So many of the terrible foods that got us to our high weights are not only basically poisonous to our bodies, but also highly addictive. It's not silly or odd at all the be thinking/anxious about the great changes you will have to go through to be healthy after surgery. A lot of people choose to forgo these foods forever, if they can, because of their addictive and damaging nature. While I will probably be doing that (my resolution is to never eat Pasta again if I can help it) there will come a time after you have healed completely that the RARE treat wont kill you. Is it a good idea to just never eat these foods again? Probably. Is it the only choice you have forever? No, not by any means.
You seem like a strong woman who has been through absolute hell and made it out kicking and fighting. These worries are normal, and it would be odd if you didn't think about these things. But you've worked so hard to get here, and I have this strong feeling that the things that have harmed you in terms of your food habits and weight aren't going to beat you any more than cancer or any of the other monsters you have already fought with and emerged from, victorious.
Another piece of good news is once you've done the pre-op diet, had surgery, and spent a couple weeks unable to eat any of the bad stuff, your body will no longer crave it the way it does now. I sometimes miss some of my old comfort foods (like ramen noodles and mac and cheese) but the strength of my cravings pales compared to the joy I feel as I melt and my health issues reverse. I wouldn't trade these 36 pounds I've lost so far since surgery for all the ramen and mac and cheese in the world, and now I have the tools to say no to the food that once held me hostage physically, mentally, and emotionally.
We're glad you're here, and we will be here to support you, commiserate, and Celebrate with you every step of the way. I wish you the best of luck! Feel free to message me or friend me any time.

lili2333 got a reaction from james1 in What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
The Final Straw happened to me when I was at my step-son's baseball game. I saw a thin woman eat a hot dog. She was really casual about it but she had one hot dog and went on with her life. I thought about that for a long time, and how I don't even eat at baseball games because I could never eat just one hot dog. I know I'd eat the hot dog, then spend the next few hours aching for another one. I just became tired of thinking about food in this way. I either feel guilty for eating, deprived for not eating, congratulatory for eating less. I just want to be like that woman who ate one hot dog and never thought twice about it. I know this decision, in the beginning, will be a lot of the same: counting, trying, losing, being frustrated, and eventually losing weight. But besides the weight loss, long term, I really hope to become the kind of person who effortlessly makes wise choices 90% of the time without even thinking about it.

Im having surgery Thursday and have planned to only take a week off. I'm having the RNY too, I think it will be doable but everyone is different. If you message me after a few days of surgery I could try to give you an idea as to how I'm doing so you can kind of gauge it.

@@Babbs comments like that make me wonder why I come here to look for answers. Why do some people on here have to be so nasty? What's going on in your lives that you just can't be kind? Isn't that the purpose of this or is it to throw sarcastic comments around and mock others?
