SaraSleeves reacted to Onmywaytothinagain in Stuck
I was exercising a lot and not eating but about 1000 calories a day. When I added 300-500 calories on the days that I worked out, I dropped three pounds the first week.

SaraSleeves got a reaction from Djmohr in Bypass vs. Sleeve
I chose the sleeve because it seemed to be safer/ less severe on your body with a shorter recovery and very effective. I did not even have to stay overnight in the hospital and have done great. I am 4 months out and have lost 60 pounds. I don't have any problems digesting anything (not even raw veggies) and my Dr personally favored the sleeve for me. Good luck. I would never turn back. This has been amazing !!

SaraSleeves reacted to KristenVSG2014 in Any advice to avoid excess skin?
I was 29, 5'7 and my highest weight was 290. I'm 163 now and I have loose skin but it has been tightening quite a bit over the last few months. I'll still need a Tummy Tuck and breast lift down the road though.
Shopping in regular stores and being able to be on my feet all day with zero pain at the end of the day is worth the loose skin. No one can tell I have it with clothes on.
Advice: drink LOTS of Water and give it time. It will look like a wrinkly mess but tightens some with time. Be realistic though that you will have it.

SaraSleeves reacted to BarrySue in Before being sleeved how slices of pizza could you eat, and after how many?
No lie, pre-op, I could eat an entire pizza (and frequently did). When I didn't do that, I'd order 2-3 meals at a time from restaurants or fast food joints and eat it ALL.
Six months out, I can now comfortably eat 90% of one pizza slice. How times have changed!

SaraSleeves reacted to FocusOnMeNow in Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I am thankful for my sleeve, thankful for my great surgeon Amir Moazzez, grateful for my wonderful NP Kim Hohendal, grateful for my supportive friends, family, boss, colleagues and especially my sister who literally was holding my hand when I woke up from surgery. I am also grateful for all of the wonderful warnings advice and acceptance that I have found here from @@Babbs @@Elode @VSGAnn @@LipstickLady @@proudgrammy and all the countless other wonderful and insightful posters on these boards. All in all I am grateful for my new life, the chance to start over in mid life, and the wisdom to make the best decision I have ever made for myself. Of course I am also grateful that I am over three months out so that I can enjoy some turkey today but for those of you who can't because you're still on liquids, please know that you will be able to enjoy MANY more Thanksgivings in your life now that you have the sleeve, that you have the compassion, love, and acceptance of everyone in these boards, and that you've GOT THIS. You made it through the sleeve surgery and you can make it through Thanksgiving. It is a small price to pay for a lifetime of health, and you have our full support! ????

SaraSleeves reacted to mmberglund in Regret surgery
I will be honest, I was scared but the thought of death was scarier. The only regret is that I didn't do it sooner but I would do it again. I am 9 month's out and the surgery saved my life.

Maybe I am just naive...one week post op, but this thread shocks me! How in the world can you have this done and then eat all that Red Lobster food? Fries, fried foods, dip, soda? I have had a pretty rough week of recovery and I do look forward to a day when food and drink does not consume my every thought, but I can't imagine just ignoring my health, throwing all that money down the drain and completely eating whatever I want. How is it physically possible? Thank you for posting this...it is definitely a little reality check for me! Congratulations on your weight loss...you aren't just 'lucky', I can tell you are a very strong, motivated woman. Good on you!!

SaraSleeves reacted to SuperDave in What have you learned to love since WLS?
@@Babbs You should try edamame spaghetti. I was a Pasta person too, and I have also done the zucchini thing and spaghetti squash, but this stuff is pasta! (Okay, it's almost pasta! ) I put an Amazon link below, but I get it at costco for nearly half the Amazon price.

SaraSleeves reacted to SuperDave in I am 20, 4 days post-op and very concerned.
I had my post surgery what the hell have I done to myself this is stupid moment as well, which I'm pretty sure happens to almost everyone. One year later, any negative thoughts about this whole process are distant memories. My only regret is not doing it sooner. The pain will go away. You will learn to control food, instead of letting it control you. You will look back at this in a year and wonder how you ever doubted. It will happen. You have got this!

SaraSleeves got a reaction from MeMe8264 in Hiatal Hernia and wishful thinking
I had surgery November 9th. I had bad gas pain but no nausea. I'm one week PO tomorrow and am taking the hubby in to have his sleeve with Brian Long tomorrow at 11:30. So far, so good. I'm glad I did this! Wishing the scale would move faster but remaining patient. I've definitely gotten in very few calories and just been drinking ! How is everyone ?

SaraSleeves reacted to bariatricwife in Numbness in outer thigh
It's called lateral femoral cutaneous syndrome and has to do with nerve regeneration and does go away by 3 months usually. Not exactly sure why it happens...

SaraSleeves got a reaction from YCandy in Nicholson Clinic
Walking and putting your arms up on the wall while someone beats on your back. That helped me the most to get relief. ( Was recommended by nurse). Congrats tbmichals and good luck. Dr. long is great.

SaraSleeves reacted to Aireekah in Numbness in outer thigh
Yes, I experienced it. I felt it right after I got home from the surgery, so it was a day after the surgery. Massaging my thigh helped and I still feel numbness but it doesn't compare to how it felt at the beginning. Sometimes it felt like a burning sensation and it worsened depending on the side I was sleeping on. Talk to your dr about it. My dr didn't really say much about it but massaging helps. Hopefully it goes away for good. I'm going on 4 months post sleeve surgery, btw.

SaraSleeves reacted to allie2369 in Numbness in outer thigh
I also have an issue with my left outside thigh being numb! I thought I was the only one. I noticed it about 4 days post op and I was in the ER and they told me it could just be from laying on their hard beds but I am now almost 7 weeks post op and it's still numb. I'm relieved to know I'm not the one one!

SaraSleeves got a reaction from thinner-me in ARE THERE ANY OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2015 SLEEVERS OUT THERE?
My surgery is Monday 11/9 and I am beyond excited. I know I will get nervous Sunday night/Monday morning but right now it's all thrills and happiness! Here goes! Good luck everyone. My hunger definitely decreased on pre-op diet and I did fairly well and lost 7 pounds, which for me , with typical slow weight loss, PCOS and diabetes I am happy with my 7! I can't wait for this extra MESS to fall off!! I know it won't be an easy task but it will be worth it.
