  1. That is almost exactly how I felt. I couldn't have anything except about a 1/2 cup of Water every hour for almost 5 days. I lived on popscicles and Jello. In the next couple days it will get much better. Plus, you will probably lose weight during this time. Congrats!! Its an exciting ride!!
  2. When I got banded, I went into the hospital with a bit of bronchitis and a touch of pnemonia. I started coughing after being out of surgery for about an hour. I did that for about 2 weeks. My surgeon told me that I would be sore for about 3-4 weeks at my port site. But I think all that coughing got me over it. Get better!!! liquids and rest!! (Sorry the nurse in me coming out!)
  3. Good for you!! I know how frustrating that can be to be stuck and then when you finally pass that little hump!! It is fantastic!! I have been stuck for a few days at 204 and it is making me crazy. Hopefully I will have some sucess soon too!! Have you had a fill yet?

  6. I am still supposed to have between 1/4-1/2 cup of food. But sometimes I think I just eat. And I do get full really fast. I noticed that people have said that your band will not work until your first fill. But I am already restricted, and I am two weeks out. I have a picture of my stomach as it was being banded and my band is so close to my esophogas, and just the band is restrictive. I have my first fill March 17th. For me, I am not sure that I am making really good food choices. I am just blending some of my favorite foods. And I love avacado, and I am not sure that is the best thing for me either. I think that I am going to start a food log. Maybe then I will know exactly how much I am eating. This is going to take some time to get to know my new ways!!
  7. I started mushies, and I found that if I can put it in the blender, I still like it. I am exctied about the salsa receipe. My husband is a great cook and he made Gordita's last night. I had soup and was feeling bad for myself. But now on taco night, I can try this!!
  8. Yeah Megan!! It will be no time at all and you will be feeling like your old self!! Like everything, it has its ups and downs. I have gone from feeling full to being hungry to figuring out what makes me feel satisified. And that is only in 12 days. I have a lot more to learn. And pretty soon you will be where you want to be too!! Can you believe we are on our way to the new us!! Get better, rest, walk and then let us know how you are doing!!
  9. I don't know what sliming is. Can you tell me?
  10. Hi all, 11 days out and feeling great. Today I pureed some chicked salad and had that and some avacado for lunch. I just had a little more at dinner and I am pleasantly full. I wish this is the kind of fullness I will have when I have a fill. I think that I feel just like I did before my surgery. Last week was hard, because I went back to work on Monday after having my surgery on Friday, but now I am even ready to get back to my workouts. I am still losing, and I know that this is the easy part, but it is feeling good to be sucessful. Here is a thing.....I have not thrown up or even had a PB. Is that normal? I know that I want to avoid vomiting, and I will, but I haven't even had the feeling that I am close to it. Is everyone like that?
  11. I get some pains in my back and under my shoulder blade, on the other side of where my band is. Is that what feeling full is?
  12. I had a headache from the caffiene too. I had my husband make me a hot tea in the morning, and it not only helped with the caffiene, it relaxed my band, so I was able to get more liquid down. I was a HUGE diet Coke drinker, and I have to say, I miss it, but now that I am 7 days out, it is much better. I am going to start back to working out next week. I am nervous, but I can do it. I know that this is probably going to be my biggest wieght loss period, so I want to maximize it!!
  13. I went back to work Monday, and I realized that just because my doctor said that I could, did not mean that I should. But I got through it with no problems and went home and went to bed for a couple hours. Tuesday was easier, but I was really tired when I got home. I think that today was actually the worst day. I had to sit down a lot and I like to get my kids up dancing before a test and I did that twice today. I definately over did it today. I see the doctor tomorrow. I am able to drink about 6 ounces of either water or soup now. Before my surgery, I would drink two big bottles of water each day. I would usually drink about 30 ounces at night. I am so thirsty. I want to just get a big glass of water and drink it all. But I think that would hurt REALLY bad. Tomorrow is a new day!! Everyday is a little better!!
  14. I was banded on Friday, and I am going back to work tomorrow. I am a teacher, and I am a little nervous. But I figure I have to get it over some time. Plus, my friend, who is a literacy coach, is right next to me and has offered to teach a lesson if I need her to. That will give me about an hour to sit. I am sure that I will come right home and go to bed. I am really having a hard time drinking anything today. It must be the swelling. I am so full. I had three teaspoons of Soup and I thought that I was going to yak. I have some protien Water by my bed so that I can keep drinking it. I think I am going to pick up some Gas-X tomorrow. I can't tell if it is gassy or if it being full. I have all new feelings and sensations to get to know. But, since I started my liquids, I am down 21 lbs. I hope I dont gain it back.
  15. Today!! I got my band this morning. I went into surgery at 7:30, and I was home by 2:30. I slept for most of the afternoon. I just had a cup of beef broth and I am really full. I also have some unset jello, but I think that I am going to save that for later. I already have that gas feeling in my chest. I have some soreness where the port is, but none of the the other sites hurt at all. I can't believe how good I feel. Let's hope that I feel this good tomorrow.
  16. I had to watch the videos. In fact, I have watched two of them, but with all the research that I have done, I think I could have written them. I haven't watched the one about fills yet, but there is still time.
  17. Hi Karen, I am being banded on the 6th. I am really excited, but also a little nervous. I have been looking into this for about 4 years. I have to do the liquid diet for two weeks. Today I started drinking slimfast to see how it went. So far, so good. Some days it seems so far away and then I glimpse at the calendar and have a little anxiety because it is getting closer. I would like to lose about 75 pounds. Of course, more would be better!!! I will be thankful for any help I can get!!
  18. They really do "deflate" you before they stop, there is just some gas that gets trapped places that they can't get too. When I had another surgery, as I have not been banded yet, I thought the gas was the worst part. I guess it is like trying to squeeze all the air out of a zip lock baggie. You can never get it all.
  19. So what did you find out about the catheder? Why can't they put those things in while you are asleep? Even if you have to have it for one day, that is better than what might happen to us if we don't have the surgery. Right?
  20. Tina, we are about the same age and so are our kids. Our surgeries are just 3 days apart. Are you doing any pre-op diets? I have to do two weeks of a really restricted diet. I am not looking forward to that part. Also, I am not telling anyone outside my immediate family. I am curious to see how long it will take people that I work with to notice. The last time I was this anxious about something was when I was waiting for my babies to be born!!! February 8th can't get here soon enough.
  21. I am having surgery on a Friday, and I am planning on going back to work the following Monday. I am a teacher, so I can plan my days as I need to, but I have to be on my game. Three days out, do you think you could go back to work?
  22. Hi all!! I just spoke to my surgeon today and I have a date. February 8th!! I, like many of you, have researched this method for years. About 4 years ago, my best friend and I went to the surgeon and had a consult with him. She really went as my support, and she wound up having by pass. She has done awesome! But I backed out. Then I decided that I wanted to do the lapband, and my insurance company said no! Our insurance changed, and I tried again. This time both insurance companies, mine and hubby's, said yes. I was never really overwieght until I started having kids. At one point I was about 260 on my 5'4" body. I took Phen-Fen and lost about 90 lbs. But then I got pregnant and got right back to over 200 after the baby was born. I have always come up with a million excuses why I couldn't lose the weight. And then I had a million more for gaining it. (Mom died, Dad died, career change, illness) But a couple of years ago I found out I have an inoperable tumor in my hip and it is really painful. I can't excersise and the heavier I get, the more pain I have. So I decided that if I couldn't lose the weight on my own, there is no shame in having help. If I had another illness, I wouldn't think twice about getting help. So here I go. Taking this huge step in my life with the rest of you. I am excited for all of us. I can't wait for the days when we can tell each other how much we have lost!!
  23. Hi all. I am new to this forum and I am really excited to be a part of it. I have been working on getting a lap band for 4 years now!! I went to a consultation with a friend and she did it, but I decided to wait. Then I went back and started the process over and my insurance declined. Finally last month, when my husbands insurance changed, I decided to try one more time and not only did his insurance approve, but my insurance benefits changed and my insurance approved it too!! I am so excited and a little scared. I have scheduled my surgery for Februrary 8th. I am having the surgery in Clinton, IL, which is a very small town about 30 miles from home. I am a total Diet Coke freak, and I am a little worried about not being able to have that. But other than that, I am ready!! I have been overweight for about 10 years and I hate it. I have a tumor in my hip and cannot do much excercising. When I look in the mirror and I don't recognize me anymore. Yep, I am ready!!
