  1. Hello! Sid is my doctor and I think he is awesome! He banded me in February 2008. When are you going to have your surgery?

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

Ok VV's! I left for a while, but I realized that I NEED support! I see a few familiar faces and names! Long story short, I got my band February 8, 2008. Love it!! I did awesome. Lost all my weight and then about the last 20 pounds I thought I needed a fill. I didn't. It really only made me throw up....a lot! Then I started using the puking as my weight loss method. After my dentist and my family doctor told me that I needed to get an unfill, and everyone I knew thought I was sick and so thin, I went to the doc and had them take a little out! Then I ate. And ate. And ate. And gained almost 40 pounds. I am still tight. In fact, without a fill, I have found that I am tighter in the last few months than ever before. I need to re "think" my choices. I am back to throwing up a couple times a day, and the thought of doing this anymore is scary to me, almost as scary as getting more fluid taken out and maybe gaining more weight! So here I am. Back where I should have stayed. Needing help and support from my VV's, once again.

    Was it something I said????

OK, I will admit, it is harder to get on here when I am not losing. And since I haven't had a fill since last May, I haven't really been thinking about it. I am about 30 lbs until I reach my goal. But, I have gone down from a 24 to a 14/16. I am pleased, but I want to be more pleased. Another problem is, I have a serious issue with what my body looks like. When people tell me that they can tell that I have lost weight, I can still only see me as I was before. No matter how much I have lost, I see the same girl in the mirror. I am not sure that any amount is going to make me happy. Also, I can't seem to get enough calories in. I think that I am not losing because I am not eating. But I am not hungry. And I force myself to eat nuts and yogurt, but I am just not hungry. Any suggestions?

    Countdown to your Bandiversary!

I can do this. My date is 2/07. I have been playing with a few pounds for the last month or two. My goal is to lose 5 pounds by that date. That is do-able. Right. I tell myself that I am going to start going back to the gym, and I hate going, and I know that is the only way to jump start this....... 5 pounds....5 weeks.....I can do this. I can do this. I will do this.

    I made it!

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is awesome! Can you believe where you were a year ago? Seems like a lifetime doesn't it.

    Yoo-Hoo???? Anyone there??

OK, I am back too. I have been playing around with the same 5 pounds for the last month. Maybe because I tend to eat really healthy, and then eat 4 peanut butter cups or a couple of fattening cookies. (Who am I kidding, I ate 8 of them today, yes, the whole package.) I am not really making a New Year's Resolution, but I am making a decision...... I can either LOVE MYSELF or HATE MYSELF. And everytime I look in the mirror and see my failures, instead of my sucesses, I am hating myself. I am going to stop that!! I am going to be happy with the weight that I lost, and stop punishing myself for those pounds that could have come off. Almost one year.....Remember this time last year when we were talking about our insurance and our liquid diets. If we need a reminder about how far we have come, we should visit the VV's of 2009.

    9 Month Status

Hi everyone!! I am just coming off a month long plataeu, but I think that I am doing okay. I need to get my butt off the couch and start excersising or I am going to have lots of hanging skin. Last week I got sick and stayed in bed for 2 days and woke up to find I lost 3lbs. Unfortuneately, they found their way back and brought a friend! Can you believe how far we have come? It is amazing! RSG, you say that you are a slow loser, but I can tell in your myspace pics that you have lost! You look happy!

    Givin' up the ice cream

OK girls, I haven't posted in a while, but I have something to give up. And when I tell you, I know that although you will understand, you will question it. I have to stop drinking so much diet Coke. I love it. I need to drink Water. I just love diet Coke. My doctor said I could have it, in moderation. I am not sure that 2 bottles a day is moderation. But it is down from the 3-4 bottles that I had before my surgery. I have been at the same weight for a couple weeks now. And I am thinking that if I switched to water, I would lose some water weight and that might make me feel better. So I am going to only have ONE bottle of diet coke each day. The rest will be water. But do those packets that make the water taste like I am having something else make me a cheater?

  10. Hello, I have to share this with someone who "gets" it....... I had an interview this morning and yesterday I was trying on my clothes. Nothing fit. I looked like a 6 year old trying on her mom's dresses. So I went to my favorite store, CJ Banks to buy something new. Nothing there fit. So I had to go to the store's regular size counterpart, Christopher Banks, to buy clothes. I was SO surprised to find that most of the XLs were too big. The larges fit nicely and a couple of mediums worked too. I am really small from my waist up, so it was a pleasant surprise, but not overwhelming. I tried some pants on. Turns out that a 18W is too big, but a 16 reg is a tiny bit too tight! I am right in between sizes. I hated that I couldn't find any pants, but I was able to buy new tops. Then tonight I went to the store to get some socks for my vacation that starts tomorrow. I saw a really cute pair of capris on sale, and they were in the regular clothing section. I tried them on.......and they fit!! If I only had a job, I could really go crazy, but alas, my children want to eat this summer. Tomorrow is the first time I will see my family since the surgery. I am nervous to see what they say. They will be nice, of course, but still........ I have to learn the sizes of clothes all over again. It is a nice problem to have.

You look great! But honestly, if I had seen the two of you on the street, I wouldn't have guessed you to be his mom!

Karen, Welcome!!! We have been waiting for you to get here! It is a great feeling to break through that. I had a little party for myself that I called, "No Two's". Now it won't be long before you leave us here because you and some hot motorcycle dude, maybe your dh, are spending all your time at the beach! In a bikini!

    This Week's Mini Goal

I am going to Detroit to see my family next weekend. This have been playing with the same 3 lbs for the last week. My goal is to exersise and lose 3 lbs by next Saturday when I leave. Also, my DH works for Nike, and he bought me a pair of capris that I wanted. They are way too tight. They are an XL, but in misses, so the cut is different. My goal is to be in those capris by the end of July. Good luck everyone!!

    Has anyone tried Wii Fit?

OK VV's!! I got the Wii Fit today. Actually I got two of them. I thought my BFF wanted one, but she picked one up too! Let's get that thread started! I am going to play with it today, I wouldn't even know how to do the challenge. Melanie, maybe we can work on that today!!! Tara, if you haven't found one, I have an extra. I don't know if it worth it with shipping, but maybe! Let me know!!

    Has anyone tried Wii Fit?

I LOVE Wii Fit!! My mother-in-law has one and my son and I are having a bit of a competition. I want my own so bad! In fact, I am going to look for one now! We should start a Wii thread challenge!!

    Checking in

I went to Christopher Banks and asked the same question! I was shopping at CJ Banks, the plus size version of Christopher Banks, and I couldn't figure out why the same sizes at both places wouldn't fit. Here is what Kay, the very nice lady, whom I am driving crazy told me. When the "W" is behind the size, 14W, it is a woman's size. It is cut differently. I think she said roomier. If you are in a 14W, you would probably be in a 18 misses. Misses sizes are cut differently too. They are smaller. She said one of the main differences is the length of the waist to crotch. I personally am very short waisted, so Womens sizes have always been too long in the crotch, unless I get a Petite, then it is too short. (I can't win.) Misses sizes are perfect from waist to crotch, but they are too tight in the but. But when I wear a regular, I can't find a pair that fit well. I found a pair of Tommy pants that I loved the fit. So I bought 3 different pairs. Soon I will be on my next Quest. In my town there is a high end resale shop. I have been shopping there because my wardrobe is changing so quickly. I totally agree with Karen. Take some time and try on a bunch of different sizes, and soon you will understand how the different brands fit. Congrats on fitting into a 14 anything! I can't wait until I am there with you!

Dang I used to be able to finish that!

I can't eat nearly as much as I could before. But here is the thing, even when I am full, instead of pushing it away, I keep eating. WTF? Isn't this what got me here in the first place? I need to keep telling myself that not only is it okay to push my food away, it is imparative!

Has anyone seen my missing mojo?

At the rate that you are losing, your skin and your body are accepting it, and you are not going to have a bunch of skin to take off, and you are going to be able to keep it off. I know how you feel. I want gastric bypass results too. But I, like you, made the healthier choice, IMHO. And we have to be more patient. I am in the same boat. In fact, I had an appointment for a fill, even though I wasnt sure that I needed it. But I cancelled because I have lost, like you, although slowly, and I think that I should jus stay the course. We can do this. We are doing this. We are healthier than we were 4 months ago and we will continue our journey to be the healthiest we can be!
  20. YIPPEEEEEEEEE!!! yeah for you!! You must be so proud. I thought that you were dancing a jig because school was out, but this is better. I am worried about putting on weight when I am home all day. School was much safer. Lord knows I would never eat the food there! Good Job!!:)

    Checking in

Hey Karen! I can't believe we have been doing this for 4 months. Somedays it seems longer, some days shorter. I was supposed to have a fill on Thursday, but I called and canceled it because I am still losing (slowly) and I think that I have pretty good restriction. I went to get a some new shorts today, and I found a really cute pair, but I knew they would be too small. They were on sale, and I am a sucker for a bargin. My friend said, "buy them, you'll be in them soon..." so I did. When I got home I put started putting them away and thought I would try them on for shits and giggles....they fit....perfectly. I was so shocked!! My bad news is, I was feeling frisky, from my new shorts, and when I my girl came to cut our hair, I thought, what the hell, something new. I LOOK LIKE A BOY. No offense to boys, but I have always had long hair, and I don't know what the hell I was thinking. I wonder if I lost more weight in my hair cut. I am going to go check!

    Trying to figure this out

It makes me wish that I would have paid more attention to metric conversions in 5th grade, when they said that by the time I was grown, it would all be metric. (Oops, it just didn't catch on!) They also said that by the time I was grown that it would be too expensive to drive. Well, they were partially right!

    Trying to figure this out

  25. Even though our doctors tell us different things, I think that it is smart to follow the advice of our individual docs. And not having pop isn't going to kill us. (Well, it almost killed me for 2 weeks.) I am not a coffee drinker, so the headaches were killing me. I was so desperate for pop, that I would open a bottle at night, leave it open and then drink it flat. I am hopeless!!
