  1. You are all doing amazing. I am 6 months post op and have lost about 60 pounds in total and on average a 10 pound loss per month. Im totally pumped even though I would like to lose another 25 or so to get to my perfect height for weight/BMI. So I am was on the lighter side as a starter compared to some of the people on this forum, so don't expect the massive loss that those folk will experience. Trust me you are doing absolutely amazing!!
  2. Hey Cervidae, just wanted to say I looked at your profile and before pics and want to congratulate you on your journey. what a transformation, you must be so proud of yourself. What a beautiful young woman you are now. Well done
  3. Thanks for you your replies. I thought I should post so that anyone reading this at a later date can be assured that light is at the end of the tunnel :-). Today I weighed in at 175 which is about 5 pounds lighter than the day i posted this!! So yes, it was Water weight and my loss is still continuing. YAY. Just proves that stalls are in fact real, and as long as you are creating a calorie deficit your body will respond..... EVENTUALLY :-).
  4. HI Sammywammy, I'm 5 months out and promise you it does get better, albeit slowly!! Along my journey I have experienced stomach aches, shocker tummy rumbles, terrible (sorry tmi) smelly wind, PLUS many trips to the bathroom , nausea, stopping on the side of the road to vomit and the odd occurance of dumping. I still sometimes eat something (or a combination of foods) that makes me feel queezy or that sends me to he bathroom in a hurry. The first year is trial and error, and everyone is different about what they can tolerate. Some weeks it feels like Im back to square one and can barely get anything down, then the next week Im eating like a horse (well a small horse thats had GBP ). I now have some "safe" foods that I fall back on. You will find yours in due time.
  5. I have been stalled for 2 weeks now and today Im 2 pounds heavier!!! Has anyone experienced a gain 5 months out?
  6. Hi Fellow GB friends, well today I am 7 weeks post op and have lost a total of 30 pounds which I'm super happy about (even though i was a pound heaver this morning)!! Just wondering when your weight loss slowed though? I don't have as much as some folk to lose, AND I'm 40ish so I expect my loss to be slower, but I have noticed over the past couple weeks my loss has slowed (last week only about 1.5 pounds). It coincides with the increase in variety and volume I can eat now without feeling sick. PLUS the last few days I have been crazy hungry all the time. Yes, i have had my period so wonder if its that, but I haven't felt this type of hunger since prior to surgery. Up until this past week, the weight was just coming off by itself as I didn't always fell very well or couldn't eat much.... Anyone experiencing similar?

    6 week check up today!

Wow Jccanda.... well done to you.... you have done so well to lose that much!!! That's a crazy amount of weight to lose :-) and the blood pressure is spot on!!!!! I bet the Dr's were super happy with you....
  8. @@jccanada happens to me too - I'm 6 weeks out today. It usually only happens to me though when I have forgotten that I need to chew my food until it is like paste in my mouth. All i can say (which I say to myself every day!) is slow down when eating and chew thoroughly until its more like the food you ate during soft phase. I feel that if I applied this rule I could pretty much eat anything i wanted other than those foods that would make me dump (so far only mild dumping on sweet wheat cookie and sweeter style yoghurt and some juices). One of the issues (if you can call it that) I have right now is that I serve myself what I think is a small bowl or plate of food and still only get 1/4 way through it. I guess that is a good thing :-)
  9. Totally agree with Jen - Im 6 weeks out and have a couple of hard lumps - scar tissue. It wont go away for a while.... i can still feel mine. I had them checked out by the Doctor and all is going well - just part of the healing process, so don't stress :-)
  10. Im 3 weeks out and getting in about 800. I track on calorieking. I try to get a large portion of my Protein in at Breakfast time with a smoothy with two scoops of Protein powder and low fat milk and fruit (about 350 calories, 60g protein), then a Soup or puree stew for lunch (200 cals, 15g protein), then some soft of puree veg and protein for dinner plus sometimes I have a snack of soft cheese (remaining 250 + 10g protein). Now, not every day is like that!! Some days I try something new (like eggs) and spend most of the day nauseous and cant get much else in!! But a good day looks like that :-)
  11. Well done! Finding high Protein foods to eat that sit well during the fist few weeks post op is really challenging. I pureed Lamb stew - definitely not as good as the real thing but still, much more satisfying than another Protein shake.
  12. 2 days clear Fluid, 2 weeks fluids/shakes/soups/thin yogurt etc, 2 weeks puree foods/scrambled eggs etc. then on to soft foods after my first appointment (at 4 weeks) with the Dietitian.
  13. I'm nearly 3 weeks post op and look at food and think "mmmm yummmmm", I then eat a few mouth fulls and find I didn't enjoy it and soon after (sometimes) feel a bit sick. I eat slowly, and mush all my food up as per the stage I'm at etc. How many months post op did you start enjoying the taste and texture of food, and the feel of it in your tummy again?
