I'm right there with ya. I am still a beginner, last year was my first year, so starting my 2nd year. I'm more confident on my bike after losing 100 lbs.
    Here's my baby.

I can totally relate, but I try to focus on the positives, no more sleep apnea, blood pressure issues, my cholesterol is outstanding now, no more knee pain, I've completed several endurance sporting events, focus on the good stuff!

I love Halo Top when I want a treat. Right now the Mint Chip is my favorite but there are so many flavors I still want to try. I don't eat a lot of it but every so often, especially when I'm on my cycle, I will want a little something. I'm also 4 months out.

I do agree with you that keeping the big picture in mind is always important, but "numbers on the scale" are important and a big part of the long term journey, too -- especially if you started out at 400 pounds and are still in the loss phase...

I can very much relate. I had very similar experiences with "friends" trying to talk me out of it, it's the easy way, blah blah blah. I heard it all. What I can tell you now being 16 months or so post op is this. Screw them. I have fallen in love with endurance sports, triathlon, running, marathon training, i have a brand new circle of friends who are so supportive and love hanging out with them. Another thing I've figured out is that alot of my old friends don't want to see me succeed. They want me to fail, for some reason. I'm guessing it's so they don't have to look at themselves. Screw them, why was I ever friends with some of these losers in the first place?

I had my gastric sleeve done January 11th. I weighed 333.1lbs.
I'm 10 months post op now and weigh 144.2lbs.
I've set new goal weights as I've gone along...first was just to get under 200lbs, then I thought I wanted my goal weight to be 180lbs. When I got there, I made the crazy goal of 150lbs never thinking I'd make it....but I did. So then I figured my goal would be 145lbs which puts me at a normal bmi...which I haven't been since I was around 10.
Now that I weight 144lbs, I've decided my final goal will 133lbs, which will mean I will have lost a total of 200lbs....and I'll do it, I know I can.
I never thought when I had surgery that weighing in the 130's would even be possible.
I've gone from wearing sizes 5-6x, and 28-30, now I wear smalls and mediums and am a size 8....I would be around a 6 if it wasn't for the large amount of skin I have around my stomach and thighs....but it's a price I'm more than happy to pay.
I've been extremely disciplined this whole 10 months. I can honestly say I've never put a bad food in my mouth...not once. I follow a very low carb diet still, drink about 85oz of Water every day and get in around 80oz of Protein. I take all my required Vitamins daily.
The gym has become a big part of my life. I workout around 5-6 days per week doing a variety of exercising....spin class, step  class, yoga, cardio machines....I like doing different things so I don't get bored.
Anyway, because I'm so close to goal, I just wanted to share this. And for the people who have a lot of weight to lose like I did....remember, you can do this! I'm living proof!!

As I'm working through Constipation issues, I end up on the toilet for way too long at a time. the Squatty Potty is a lifesaver. Changing the position helps with the constipation and keeps my legs from falling asleep.

I'm not a DS patient, but for this type question, doesn't really matter which surgery we've had. I just did my 5th triathlon of the year and have a bigger one next weekend. I couldn't even run an entire 5k this spring without walking, now planning on doing a couple half marathons this fall. I'm still a month away from being 1 year post op! My advice, exercise hard and exercise often! Makes all the difference in the world!
