Love my Fitbit charge HR...but it causes rashes!

I actually discovered that I may have been wearing mine a little too tight. Since I originally posted this, I began wearing it looser and now I no longer have the issue with irritation. I believe I'm also allergic to these type of materials so I make sure I have air. And I plan to get one of those covers, that was an awesome suggestion as well!

    Alcohol and Weightloss

Judgemental is not about someone not agreeing with you...judgemental is being overly critical of someone for no reason. We're here to support each other. Sure, give someone feedback if they're making poor decisions. But there's a handful of people here who are downright condescending, and although they've reached goal and probably made some mistakes along the way, they choose to be mean and judgemental instead of being supportive and sharing what they may have learned from their own experiences/mistakes. I'm happy for @@Babbs accomplishments, I just wish she chose a better way of communicating when she wants to give someone feedback. Further, what is the purpose of being on a thread like this when the OP asked multiple times to share feedback only if this applies to you, this just leads me to believe that some folks get a sense of enjoyment from criticizing others. I bet many of you have a plethora of knowledge you can share but may be intimidated by some folks who demolish an opportunity for a healthy exchange of information.

    Alcohol and Weightloss

I think it's so cute when people say "Well I'm still eating or drinking XX and I'm still losing weight!" Hate to break it to ya, but the first 6 months or so you could be eating Ho Ho's and washing them down with milkshakes and still lose weight. You do realize you're not really steering the ship that early out, right? Get back to us in about 3 or 4 years when you've kept your weight off and I'll take what you have to say a little more seriously. You're the exact person I had in mind when I mentioned the judgemental people. This is why people can't feel comfortable sharing honest feedback. I never said that I know it all and I'm first to admit I've made mistakes but I don't give into it, I pick up and make better choices. 3-4 years from now you won't hear anything from me, thanks for proving my point. I don't believe alcohol helps you lose weight by any means but id be lying if I said I never drank since surgery. I was just sharing my experience I'm not here to tell anyone the right or wrong way to do things because I don't claim to have all the answers. But thanks for you criticism ????????

    Failure

Timewise you're actually doing good. My surgery was 9/4/15. I was 301 pre-op and I'm now 251. Sounds like you and I both just need to exercise more, and we will see more results.

    A new milestone

That's an awesome non scale victory! I know that feeling. I was excited to get a bra from Victoria's Secret for the first time ever! We have to count the small things, that are really major accomplishments for us. I used to be hot ALL the time, now I'm often cold. So I get the sweating thing being a big weight lifted off your shoulders...major congrats, keep it up!

    Alcohol and Weightloss

I definitely knew that OP was including the BMR + calories burned from activity and stating total calories burned in a day. I have noticed that this site has many ultra sensitive folks, and ultra critical folks, and that combo is not always good. I posted a lot in the beginning but I stopped because I feel ppl are often overly critical when some folks are just trying to be honest about their experiences and get feedback from those who have experienced it too. For example, I have drank alcohol multiple times since surgery and I also have continued to lose. I think it's also because when you drink, you tend to eat less, and most likely you're active to some capacity. I'm sure someone will tear me down for this, but I don't follow every single rule and I've still been successful. I'm more than halfway to goal at only 4 months out. Just like any diet or lifestyle change, there will be some days where you splurge a little but the most important part is staying on track and being accountable. On a side note, I wish that we could just be honest adults without worrying that someone will jump all over us. I think the OP got defensive and maybe went a little far after, but I have seen this so many times on here. We all know what it feels like to be criticized, let's try to look at things from the other person's perspective. With that said, Carry on everyone lol ????????
  8. Have you heard of the pouch re-set diet? Basically starting from scratch, week one liquids, week two full liquids, week three purée and so on. I have heard this helps the pouch get used to eating smaller amounts. Not sure if if shrinks back down but psychologically it probably puts you back in the mindframe you were in when you first started.

3-4 month post op check in...how you doin?

@@Dub that's amazing! Congrats! I agree about the clothes, but I'm cheap so I've been wearing the things that were too snug before, and they are still too big. I wore a 3x-4x or 24 before surgery, and now I can wear a 1x/XL-2x, or size 18. I had my first non scale victory, I got a bra from Victoria's Secet! Pretty big deal for me, as I always had to get bras from Lane Bryant. Granted I bought the largest bra there, 38DDD, but exciting nonetheless. I also wish I had done this sooner, but on the other hand I feel like it's perfect timing: I'm 30 and I have the maturity and income to provide the things I need to be successful this time. Had I done this sooner, I'm not sure that I could have stayed on track. I feel that 2016 is gonna be a great year for us ????
  10. Hey guys, just checking in with my September and October sleevers. I feel my weight loss is kinda slow, but I'm ok with it. No loose skin, and it's not obvious that I had surgery. I weighed in at 310 on Sept 4, and today I am 254. I fluctuate between 251 and 254. I feel my weight loss is going well, and I know it could be even better if I were working out daily. I do use my Fitbit and do my best to get 10,000 steps per day, but I haven't started a true workout regimen. Just wanted to see how you all are holding up and what your numbers are looking like. Hope you all are holding up and losing!

    After surgery and cheese

Nope, one of my primary sources of protein...1-2 string cheeses per day ????????
  12. I absolutely love seeing my progress and activity on my FitBit Charge HR, but it causes red rashes on my wrist. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm so torn, I love this device but I don't like having marks on my wrists. Has anyone found a solution for this? Thanks

    Foster children

I'm a children's social worker and I can't imagine trying to build a relationship with a new child while trying to also build an understanding of your new body. Also you never know how long it will take your body to adjust to the changes. I say wait until a month or two after your surgery before you accept any new kids.

    Smoking....need advice please!

I had the sleeve and was told you could no smoke and that surgery would be cancelled if you told them you smoked. There's no further testing that would reveal if you have actually smoked or used a substitute, but if you lie and have complications down the line, you would be responsible and not the doc if you went against their recommendations. As someone who has pushed limits, I realize that a lot of what they tell you is 50% safety, but also 50% for lifestyle change. For example, the gripe about smoking seemed to be geared toward cigarettes but I smoked marijuana pre-op. When I told them I could substitute that with edibles, the finally admitted that it was more about the lifestyle change then a health issue. They believe weed could make a person want to eat more, thus they discourage it. I quit anyhow, but I do agree that sometimes you want to know why you are being asked to give up so much. I've dabbled with a couple things that are on the "do not" list, and I'm ok. Granted, if I did this regularly I'm sure my weight loss would stall, so I'm sure they discourage these things knowing that some people struggle with willpower so it's better to just scare them into not doing things if they believe it could be a health risk. With the smoking, my doc said coughing could cause your staple line to rip, or the toxins in cigarettes could cause infection or slow healing.

    Sushi

Hence the name lol, I had the sleeve. I was months post op. I'm sure that it's not technically "allowed" due to the rice but I tolerated it ok and only had two pieces in one sitting. Took me half a day to eat 5 little pieces, it was take out. While I tolerated it ok, I won't be doing it again anytime soon because I got really full off a very little amount of Protein. Definitely nice to know I can have a couple pieces on special occasions though.Sorry, I was two months post op ???? Don't have sushi with rice, have sashimi instead. I was able to eat 8 pieces It was a takeout place so I wasn't sure the quality of their sashimi, but in the future I would definitely do sashimi.
