Anyone having surgery in Oct ?
@@395Ron, we are praying for you and your family and sending love and hugs. You will get through this. You will succeed.

Low calorie, liquid diet a stuggle so I think I'm cheating
I know that friends can mean well but taking herbal products so close to your surgery can really cause havoc up to and including not being able to do the surgery, or even having to stop the surgery after the surgeon has started. Please don't continue taking that unless your surgeon (not dietitian) has said that its ok.

Does anyone feel pressured by surgeon to have the bypass (instead of sleeve)
Not trying to change your mind, but if you get the sleeve and don't get GERD, then yes it doesn't matter about being irreversible. However, if you get GERD or, worst case, really bad GERD, then the sleeve being irreversible is going to mean a whole lot. There are people who get a revision from sleeve to RNY. And if you develop GERD that will be one of the very choices you have to remedy that GERD.

I can't believe it...he doesn't really care!
I agree with Onelife. He may be afraid of change and not ready to accept that you are going to do this. I'm sure he'll come around. Maybe leave the booklet in plain sight and he'll probably look at it when he's ready.

Denied but I won't give up
I hope that you get your approval the first time around. Keep on fighting. Keep on believing. It will happen for both of us. We are both going to have our surgeries and they will be a success!!

Denied but I won't give up
Today I found out that my application was denied. I was upset at first, wondering if I am supposed to get this surgery. I had doubt in my heart. But then I started thinking about the reasons I need this surgery, and how this surgery is a Godsend for us. It gives us an opportunity to regain control of our lives, and live it on our terms. And I became convinced once again that this surgery is what God wants for me. But He never said it would be easy. And I'm a fighter. I've had to fight to get this far. And I will continue to fight!!! And I'm blessed because the wonderful person helping me with my application is more than ready to appeal as soon as possible. I'm also blessed because I have a place like this where I can come and be myself and give and receive support. So...here we go!!! Please send prayers and good vibes my way!????

Submitted to Insurance
Yeah that's true. My insurance, however, is a little different in that if the approval isn't already noted on my account, member services can't tell me anything. And I know that even though on my account my second application was 'canceled', it's not actually canceled. But people in member services thinks it is. I've tried to explain to them that that's the application that is actually pending and the MAU (authorizing unit) has been in contact with my doctor representative and they've been working on it, they still can't get past the 'canceled'. But I still do call so it's on record that I called to check on it. I'll call on Monday.

How to prepare for the hospital
@@toasty, I think I'm going to bring my laptop when I have surgery. If I don't use it, that's fine. But watching movies relaxes me, so even if I'm able to watch one movie, it'll make me feel better.

Tomorrow, Tomorrow..you're only a day away!
@, I'm glad you're doing well and are able to manage the pain. That's what I'm concerned about. I've learned to deal with pain and listen to my body. You are a great inspiration to many. I'm glad the cinnamon on the applesauce taking nicely! Keep doing what you're doing and keep us informed.

Number One Muti Vitamin
Almost any multivitamin would be fine pre-op but post-op you need specific vitamins, so I would look up bariatric multivitamins to make sure that your are getting the nutrients your post-op body will need.
