    Amen, sista friend!
My driver's license is up for renewal in a few months and I can't wait to get a new picture! My weight on my license has been a lie forever. About 10 years ago, I changed the lie to a higher number, but it was still a HUGE lie. I think I'm going to lie again, but put my goal weight on it because it will be the truth in the near (kind of near) future!

I can't think of anything..... I followed my pre and postop diets to a T. And since then I don't have a "do not eat"list. Anything and everything in moderation. There is no such thing as cheating in my world, only choices. No guilt, no regrets.

kstellflug got a reaction from byebyefat in What are some of your NSV
Rode on a plane a few weeks ago...didn't need a seat belt extender, the arm rest was down and not squeezing down on the side of my thigh, and there was actual air and light between my stomach and my tray table when I put it down!

Have you been in touch with your surgeon? Maybe it's not how much you are eating but what you're eating. Are you taking all of the Vitamins you're supposed to be taking? What about your calories? Too little calories can be almost as damaging to your metabolism as too many. Try to stick as closely to the amount that they recommend you eating. I wish you luck!

I am so right there with you on this issue. I feel like I'm right back to my old self, eating, eating, eating! I keep justifying it by telling myself, "it's not as much as you used to eat." But it's about the behavior, quality not quantity. Struggling!

kstellflug got a reaction from tera1982 in Type 1 Juvenile Diabetic getting sleeved.... Soooo Ready!
T1 diabetic also, sleeved 5 days ago. So far my sugars have been doing pretty great. I'm on injections and have been decreasing my lantus one unit each night ever since surgery, and that's after I already cut the dose in half before I went into hospital! Have been taking little 2 unit shots of humalog only a couple times a day. I know this surgery is saving my life already! Diabetes doesn't ever go away for us, but I think a smaller me is going to make it so much easier to manage! Good luck to you!

kstellflug reacted to Babbs in Has anyone become single as a result of their weight loss surgery?
This may not be a very popular opinion, but I truly believe if you are having or had problems because of WLS, you had problems before WLS. I think the surgery just exasperates the issues in a relationship/marriage. People don't split up BECAUSE of weight loss surgery. Hind sight is 20/20, and I'm sure those of you who's relationships have ended after weight loss surgery can admit that there were problems before.
That being said, this is why it's VERY IMPORTANT for some to seek some kind of counseling before and after this surgery. It is a huge upheaval to you and your families lives, and if you have a tumultuous life anyway, this surgery will throw one more wrench in it. I think a healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body.

How is it that we always find these forums and information after we've gone it alone?! I just had my sleeve surgery 3 days ago and searched for other type 1's doing the same. Anyway, glad to find these posts. Don't know if anyone is still on here, but hopefully the next person will find these and feel better about their decisions. I'm doing fantastic so far, have reduced my insulin needs already by more than half. I did run a bit high before and during the surgery, but that was on purpose to keep from getting lows. Can't wait to see what it will be like one week, one month, one year from now. Did this to save my life, so now I'm ready to start living it!!!

I decided to be very open about it and I have received an overwhelming amount of positive support from family, work and friends. For me, talking about it was the final step in letting go of my shame about being overweight. And, you have to remember, the weight loss will be extreme, so at a certain point, do you want people to wonder or be concerned about your health? Personally, once I owned my decision, the doors flew open and I felt like a huge weight, pardon the pun, had been lifted for me mentally! Good luck on your journey.
