Thanks Kathy! I have been riding to work. It's about 13 miles each way. I did it one day last week and I rode again yesterday and today. 2 in a row was rough. I may gave to space them out a bit, my motor is running on empty. I burn 2200 calories a day riding to and from work. Its about 50min each way. such a great workout.

  2. I am coming up on my 6 month mark since surgery. Tonight I am going to make myself a steak dinner. Literally just steak. But it will be the best steak ever. I have missed it the most. Just coming off a month of 0 weight loss with a week of an 8 pound gain, only to drop another 10 in the last 5 days. Watch your meds and fluids folks.

  3. I finally had to buy new jeans. I have been wearing my 52" waist jeans the past 4.5 months since surgery. I just keep adding holes to my belt and it wraps around my side, almost to my back. Well, I noticed the other day that the pants really look bad in the back where they bunch together and I don't have a butt to fill the seat of the jeans. I was pleasantly surprised to find that, I am now a size 42" jeans. Heck yes!

I love clothes shopping now. Use to find it so depressing. My husband keeps threatening to take my debit card.

@dlappjr I haven't gained - but I haven't lost either - so, I am hoping to get my head on straight and back at it now that I am back at work :D

thanks for asking! I am envious =] but I know its my own fault.

@jane13 - I am sorry you are going through some stuff. Best of luck with that and I am sure you will bounc back. I have been getting slightly off track as well with all of the holidays and parties. I keep reminding myself that this cannot be the new norm. I have to try to be diligent, but if I stumble, I must get back on track.

    3. jane13

      jane13

@dlappjr - I am glad to hear that others are off track too, I cant let the emotional eating kick in...keep in touch! I am weighing in for the Holiday Challenge on Saturday and then again on Thursday morning. seven days and 5lbs +/- to get to -100....not easy.

You got this! I;m right with you, looking to hit 325 by Xmas (need to lose 13 more lbs) which will put me at 100 pounds lost from when I started the 2 week preop diet.

      dlappjr

@goblue9280 Keep it up! Thats awesome. I am also counting from the start of my pre-op diet, as that counts as 25 pounds. Otherwise, I only lost a measly 75 pounds since surgery (I am being sarcastic, 75 lbs. is still nothing to scoff at)

  7. Finally starting to lose some weight again. I missed seeing the numbers get lower. Still hoping to get to 100lbs gone by the end of the year.

    1. jane13

      jane13

      me too!

      I am 7 pounds away...28 days....a pound needs to "go" every 4 days.......yes I have done the math :D

  8. Hey, I just placed my first order on the bariatricpal.com store!. They have a great deal on Cyber Monday, plus, use this url: http://r.sloyalty.com/r/uC9zIWugfVhl to save $10.00 on your order! It also helps me save $10 off my next order!

I too had a discount when I ordered from the store during opening week. I ordered protein bars and should have enough to get me to Jan. What did you order?

    2. dlappjr

      dlappjr

I got a bunch of different snacks and protein bars. I got some hot chocolate too. Just looking to try new snacks and stuff.

  9. A lot to be thankful for this year. Thankful for all of you, the ones who support and offer info and advice, and the ones who inspire. I know we spend a lot of time asking questions and looking for answers here, but I just wanted to say Thank You.

  10. I had noticed the past couple weekends that I just wasn't myself on Saturday and Sunday. Confirmed it this weekend. If I don't work out on Saturday and Sunday like I do the rest of the week, my weekend is sh!t.

  11. Rode my bike to the gym this morning. Screw that! It's too damn cold.

  12. I just bought a bike! So excited to get out and ride. For a week. Then will be so excited to ride in the spring!

That is a gorgeous looking bike! When I lose some more weight I'll probably look at getting a new bike to start trail riding, always been a trek fan. My older brother still does a bunch of mountain biking with his trek 930 single track he bought in the early 90s. Have fun!

    3. dlappjr

      dlappjr

Thanks @goblue9280. I got the dark grey with red accents. They call it Lava Black but its just dark grey. I love the look of it. I plan on riding a lot on the street or paved trail but also occasionally on dirt or stone. This seemed like a good hybrid to handle both. My price range was more the 8.3 but I paid 8.3 price for a 8.4. The color is what made the difference. 8.3 was only available in gloss black with bright blue accents. Didnt care for that too much.

    4. goblue9280

      goblue9280

@dlappjr I agree on the color, very sharp. That'll work well as a hybrid bike. I have a fully-rigid redline I'm going to start riding again soon. My plan would be to turn it into a commuter with thinner tires if I were to buy a new bike for trail riding.

  13. I checked the scale this morning. It was still there, on the floor where I left it.

    1. jane13

      jane13

I hid mine for months at a time and I think that's one of the reasons I got to 282 lbs. I am a scale junkie ;(

      dlappjr

I checked it again this morning. It still says the same thing it said yesterday.

  14. Pushing through this stubborn stall. Cannot break through 300! Increased my workouts from 3 to 5 per week. 30 minutes instead of 20 on the Elliptical. And adding a little more protein. Next, I need to add more fluids. So close.

Thanks for the tip @KindaFamiliar. I will have to give that a try. I have been focusing on trying to get to 30 minutes endurance then hoping to get my speed ramped up. I had thought about trying to do a 5k but really had it in my head that I wanted to do it in 30 minutes. But then I tried to get on a treadmill. My knees and ankles cannot handle more than 3mph on a treadmill or running on pavement, where on the elliptical, I am hitting 5.5. I just need more time to drop more weight. I won't be able to get in shape fast enough for the 5k in a few weeks so maybe I will refocus on adding resistance in hopes of boosting my loss.

You know you'll get to that place where you really want to go.* What matters is that you're not letting the stall get you down.

      * Name that song.

Sorry, I don't know that song. So I googled it. This is what came up. I don't think this is what you were talking about:

  17. 9 weeks Post Op today. To celebrate, I decided to up the game. Instead of 15 minutes on the elliptical, I went 20, before my workout. Bam! WHEN IT'S GAME TIME, IT'S PAIN TIME, BABY!

Good for you. My treadmill just died and I need to get another one. Used to love ellipticals at the gym but they hurt my knees now.

I love my treadmill and recumbent elliptical. I have been restricted since June following spine surgery. I can only walk at this point but the other day I got on my elliptical and just started going anyway. I have more spine surgery coming up November 16th and after that I really hope I can get back on them.

Good luck with the other surgery! Hope you recover quickly!

  18. I have been avoiding purchasing any new clothes, as I am sure I am not done losing weight yet, but all of my jeans and shirts fit so big. I tried a Salvation Army but they didn't have anything bigger than a 2xl shirt or a 42 waist. Not sure exactly what I needed yet, I went someplace Familiar. DXL (formerly Casual Male XL), or as I like to call it, "The Big and Fat Store". I was a little shocked, and a lot giddy when I found out why my 52 waist jeans and 5xl tops were so big. I need a 46 waist and a 3xl shirt. BOOM! Happy times, folks!

      twinhappy

Good job! I struggle with the same thing as I have dropped 5 sizes so far. The last set of pants I bought I got a little snug so they will eventually fit well in the next 4 weeks or so. Plus pants nowadays tend to stretch out after wearing them all day anyway. Have fun buying smaller clothes :-)

    2. BLERDgirl

      BLERDgirl

I buy only what's necessary and even then it has to be on clearance. I just ordered 3 new bras, 2 dresses (under $10ea) and more gym clothes. Once I'm into straight sizes I'll probably hit the thrift shops.

    3. Lexigurl82

      Lexigurl82

Congrats! Buy clothes from Goodwill or any thrift stores until you hit your goal weight. also, make sure of the clearance racks at Walmart, Citi Trends for example. I can't wait until I can start buying smaller clothes :)
