Pejela got a reaction from Wendyfm in Why Am I Dropping Weight So Slowly?
my NUT said the lbs are not an indication of weightless the percentage of fat is the most important not your BMI but your amount of fat in your body, I have lost .5% in a week post op and I'm excited about it, I only have lost 6.6 lbs post op be positive and be careful of too much weight loss at once, I am meeting quite a few people that lost 70lbs in two months and now are dealing with ailments due to rapid weight loss life threatening and debilitating. It's about getting healthy and having a strong tool. Good luck on your journey!

I was on liquids only for two weeks before surgery, two weeks after surgery - then two weeks on purees/mushies. I couldn't have real food until a month after surgery, and I remember thinking I was going to absolutely murder someone. So miserable. All I can tell you is - it will be a distant memory soon. I promise ???? and it is so, so worth it. I know it sucks horribly right now, but you can do ANYTHING for a few days!!

It sucks, but you are healing. I had yogurt, sugar free Jello, and sugar free Popsicles too. Once on full liquids my husband "doctored" a few Soups to make them more savory for me. Most days looked like this:
Breakfast - Dannon Oikos greek yogurt (no added sugar, no artificial sweetners, no fat ... several flavors) with 10g added Protein power.
    snack - 8oz Protein Drink
lunch - 1/2 cup blended Soup w/ seasoning
    Snack - 8oz Protein Drink
dinner - 1/2 cup blended Soup with seasoning & 10g added Protein powder.
In between ... 64 oz Fluid. Mostly Water with Mio or Crystal Light drops for flavor.
Soups were all 99% fat free and alternated between the following (put through a blender & strainer first):
Cream of chicken with Adobo, onion powder, garlic powder
Golden mushroom with cumin, curry powder, paprika
    Cheddar broccoli
    French Onion
I also alternated sugar free pudding, Jello, custard, etc when I wanted a different texture.
Hope this helps. You've only a few days til full liquids!

My doctor let me have yoghurt, frozen popsicles/fudge pops (sugar free) and Protein Shakes of course. I also am eating frozen grapes, watermelon, and fruit smoothies. I had surgery Monday.

It will get better! It took about a day for the pain to subside. Walking around really does help.

It will get better everyday. The first couple days are the worst. Stay on top of the pain medication. Good thoughts headed your way. Feel better soon.
Also walk as much as you can. I know it don't seem like it will help but it does.

Yes. I have that same fear and it's because it's a real possibility. I will do everything in my power not to let that happen, but I am most certainly not cured of obesity. The longer I'm out from surgery the more aware of this I become. I used to think I finally found the secret and I had it under control for good. I've since learned that it's more me than the sleeve doing the work, and frankly, I'm not to be trusted! ????

Yup. And my worry keeps me on track.
I weigh myself every day. I weigh, measure and track my food many days (randomly, not all). I get in at least 15k steps most days along with a workout.
I stay cognizant of what I am doing and I don't lose sight of my goal -- staying at a healthy weight and keeping my body moving.
My fear keeps me honest and doing the right thing.

Don't let the scale have power over you in this journey. You will loss at all kind of rates. Sometimes the weight falls off and then there are times you will have a slow or no weight loss. Follow your plan and you will loss. Don't get discouraged.

I was just going to say that...1 lb a day is a lot. That's 30 lbs a month. I'm 12 days post op and I've lost a pound a day and am very happy with that.

Hi this is a choice you need to be comfortable with. I have only told the same people in my life every one else I told I had some made up problem. I don't regret it because I did not want people judging me or watch king me eat. I did not reach my goal in a year but am on a weight lost now. I have lost weight at a slow rate. I don't have much to lose but I didn't want any negative feed back from anyone. You are the only one who will know who to tell and who not to tell. I will pray that you get the sign you need to make that decision

I haven't told anyone. My mom should be my biggest support system but I've seen her reactions to people who have had WLS. I frequently travel so the time off wouldn't be questioned and have yoyo dieted for years, so I don't anticipate anyone questioning me when I start losing.

Thank you everyone for your input. I'm scared to tell people, and worried what negativity may come my way but I don't like feeling that I'm lying either.
Good point about other people feeling frustrated that I would do so well 'on my own' if they can't.
I have a lot to think about..

With the number of people you told, your sleeve isn't a secret or it won't be for long.
I told 3 people, none of them live near me and they all live in 3 different states and don't talk to each other or anyone else I know.
You can't untell people, so be careful who you do tell.
Also, remember when you tell people, they are going to want to talk about it when you may not want to, for the rest of your life.

I am having a really hard time deciding what to tell people. On one hand, I really don't want to lie to people and my coworkers are like family and they would ask where I was during the surgery and also how I was losing weight. I don't relish the idea of lying to them. Also, I know people who have had gastric bypass and lied about it and I think it's kind of unfair to other heavy people to just tell them you lost weight by diet and exercise because it is so frustrating when you're trying to do the same thing and they are having incredible results and you're not. That said, I would really rather not have everybody in my business. I am afraid I may gain the weight back, and I don't really want everyone to know that I had the surgery. It is just a fear I have. I haven't decided what I am going to do.

I went to the doctor for my one week postop today. I weighed in and so far I've lost 13 pounds since last Monday. She said I could start puréed foods and I'll be on that stage for about a month. I got the Steri-Strips off my incisions but I was allergic to them so now I'm liberally applying Benadryl cream. My first puréed meal was Beans and the canned green beans with garlic and peppers in them. I got some foamies afterwards but other than that I just felt really full. Feels good to be off the chicken broth stage.
