    Low BMI and Gastric Sleeve

don't listen to them about your decision I too had a lower BMI from 36-38 but I felt like I was dying and or going to have a stroke or heart attack, my whole body hurt everyday And my feet too. Today 3 weeks out from sleeve surgery I have lost 14 lbs 24 total and have not felt this alive in a few years. Good job on using preventative measures for your health and well being. Congrats

    Protein drinks

I use Inspire Protein shakes from Bariatric Eating and my favorite so far is the pumpkin pie and the peanut butter cookie, they are tasty low calorie easy to shake, blend or use magic bullet and they have pure whey proteinisolate what we can absorb and need as Bariatrics not the blends etc
  4. thanks everyone Tylenol helped but I feel the headache is right there waiting for me lol I hate headaches me too they come and go every couple of days I decided to have a single Cappuccino yesterday took me all day to sip it but it worked and it didn't hurt my stomach but helped the headache go away I am prone to migraines so I had to do something I can't take excedrin anymore just grateful so far no migraine since surgery August 11 but they lurk for sure

    Ughhhh

I didn't mean to say your food was bad, just the ones you mentioned are extremely high in fat and calories (my signature dip is the buffalo for parties always asked to make it lol) now it doesn't mean you can't have it is what I'm told but we are only allowed to eat 800 calories a day to continue to lose weight and or to keep it off depending on exercise, so how I am working with the thought of not having certain foods like I used too or the portions is that if I want for example to take 2 table spoons of buffalo dip for example then that means I have to walk 3 miles that day at a minimum. Sort of like that anyways. I'm on day 9 post op and I am so over the soups too, but I also have to remind myself that I had this surgery so that I can stop the insanity of gaining and to reduce my weight significantly. I already push my limits by drinking my soups too fast and I am going to therapy once a week to help me with my habit of over indulgence. It's going be very challenging, I hope I did not hurt your feelings, the liquid stage does suck

    Ughhhh

I was told it is wise to reprogram your eating habits during the honeymoon stage the first year of surgery, so that by the time you are healed totally you will not eat all these foods that got you to the sleeve in the first place. Weight gain is unavoidable if you keep your old habits and old favorite foods.

Why Am I Dropping Weight So Slowly?

my NUT said the lbs are not an indication of weightless the percentage of fat is the most important not your BMI but your amount of fat in your body, I have lost .5% in a week post op and I'm excited about it, I only have lost 6.6 lbs post op be positive and be careful of too much weight loss at once, I am meeting quite a few people that lost 70lbs in two months and now are dealing with ailments due to rapid weight loss life threatening and debilitating. It's about getting healthy and having a strong tool. Good luck on your journey!

    Any August Sleevers?

no veggies? I was allowed all green veggies and leafy and salads until the last two days then full liquids only ask the dr again Good luck my prayers!goodluck! You got this!
  16. oh good I am so glad you are better and on the road to recovery! I loved OCC and their facility was cleaner and nicer than some of our hospitals and clinics here in the U.S., Dr. Ariel Ortiz and his medical team and staff were truly awesome too and we stayed at the Marriot after and they were great too. I am so happy I went to TJ for my surgery. Everyday is getting better and back to work tomorrow! Thanks for updating and letting us know you are on track in recovery and healing!
  17. Good luck! Congrats on your 85 days and so rude that they are doing a hair follicle test.
  18. I don't really know much about Bariatrics and pot but I think when they say wait 3 months I think they are meaning the smoke or any smoke for that matter, I mean come on people with ulcerative colitis, cancer etc eat the edibles to help them, the only thing is for edibles, you are on liquids and then mush for the first 3-4 weeks depending on your dr, so edibles should be broth, or creamed Soups, no sugars etc. if I were you I'd tweak the directions of food for the edibles to be right so you don't cause any leaks with solids etc. maybe some in tea. Even the Vape may cause some issues so for while your stomach is healing from being cut by 80% and that removed and while your staples and stitch is healing to stay clean and then talk to your dr tell the dr so they can help you incorporate it back into your regiment. But that's my opinion always check with your doctor.
  19. Hi sorry haven't been on for a couple of days just learning how to take little sips instead of gulps and getting my liquids in to stay hydrated it's not easy at all, my brain is my enemy right now, but getting much better at it, still have a little colic with each sip but not as bad as it was.
  20. Hi Dawn! Omg! We have been trying to check in with you, no never heard of a recovery house? Who was your Dr? Are you at the Marriot now? I'm so sorry! Wish I was still there so we can help you. It hurts to drink because your stomach is inflamed, is there someone that can get you powerade so you can take sips, it's easier on your stomach.
  21. The day of surgery you will barely be able to take ice chips, the next day something except maybe a few sips of clear broth, your body isn't hungry it's your brain that tricks you. The most important part is to stay hydrated and follow exactly your Drs orders or else you can harm yourself like create a leak or be doubled over in excruciating pain. Now I did the sleeve are you doing the sleeve too? Because the bypass is much more restrictive. You lose way more weight but it's an even slower recovery period. Each has its major outcome benefits.
  22. I made my own broths but I think I would have been better off just buying already made broths but it's hard to find lower sodium ones. Today I will be able to take a few sips of the tomato creamed soup. It's amazing how a couple of sips fills you up. It's frustrating mentally but then you remember why you are in this position to begin with because you needed something to stop you from devouring everything. Quite a reality check. The brain hunger is very tricky so beware.
  23. well I would recommend loose fitting clothes because of the incisions you don't want them to snag but maybe the compression tank will work just be careful still maybe put something on your belly when you cough just a suggestion I brought a mini decorative pillow. You will be on clear liquids the first 4 days and really you won't be able to hold anything else without major pain, you barely can take two sips before your stomach screams at you. The day of surgery and the next day I had ice chips all day to get my fluids in, I tried to sip and it was painful. The other girls were better off sipping the powerade. Keep us posted.
  24. Hi All today is the day I go home, I was supposed to go home tomorrow but I live in San Diego and I feel so much better today not as much discomfort and ready to go see my furbabies and drink some of the homemade soups I made before I left and order Inspire Pure shake powders, down 4lbs since Tuesday! Yay! So glad I did this! Keep us posted on your journey, bring a pillow to hold your stomach when you cough, bring gas x, and bring some G2 sugar free or powerade sugar free to help with electrolytes.
