It happens. I still have times where several days go by and I have to force myself to eat. Then there are times where I feel like I could eat all day long and I have to restrain myself. Today has been one of those days. It's just the ebb and flow of things with the sleeve

Good for you! Any weight loss achievement is to be applauded, no matter the method and no one way is better than any other as long as the end result of better health and fitness is achieved.
I've got to ask, @@Chuckster . You just recently joined this forum (a weight loss surgery support forum), you lost a whole lot of weight non surgically, and both posts you've made since joining have been about losing weight non-surgically. What's your agenda in being here?

    Good for you...congratulations!
I am 63 years old, and have experienced what you are experiencing dozens of times...only to gain it all back, and then some.
It was frustrating to say the least. I simply do not have the self discipline or will power to make it stick.
Lets face it...that's why I was obese in the first place....
So, I had Weight Loss surgery...to do what I was incapable off doing myself...and this is permanent!
I have no fear of ever gaining it back, nor do I have to work hard at maintaining it. I don't have to count calories nor follow any specific diets. No more "White Knuckling" it.
I have many friends who eat right, go to the gym, and live healthy, fit, and skinny lives, and they did not have WLS....so it can be done.
But for me, this is exactly what I needed!! And this is what worked for me.
Just like my skinny friends, I eat right, go to the gym,,and I am healthy, fit, and skinny....BUT in the background, the Lap band is there quietly doing it's job for me.
    Again..,congratulations....
BTW, I had to do a medically Supervised 6 month pre-op diet....I did very well for about 4 months, then started to slide back, then failed...
Just Like every diet I have been on, and also proving to my Insurance, for the record, Diets do not work for me.

Three weeks out tomorrow! Down 17 pounds (SW 200 CW 183). I've ran three 5k's on treadmill in the past week and had no stomach pain at all! Starting soft diet on Thursday (although surgeon let me have thick Soups and scrambled week last week). Feeling great, but I'm exhausted by evening.

They pump lots of Fluid in you before and during the surgery to keep you hydrated so it is not unusual to see a 10 lb gain directly after surgery. It takes several days to lose it. have yuo seen a big weight drop in last day or so?

Congratulations to all of us 'Julyer's' who have had the surgery and starting our journey to better health.
Also congratulations to those who are about to embark on surgery and speedy recovery! I am now 5 days out and feeling good.
Only thing is I am very tired and sleep a lot, so apologies if I have missed someones surgery recently. I am sure I will be more 'with it' in a few days and will make p for it then! lol

I'm pre-surgery, but I can tell there are so many factors that determine one's tolerance for exercise that I find it meaningless to compare one person to another. Age, comorbidities, starting weight, etc. Also, it seems that those factors affect people in different ways (e.g., though one person is heavier than another, that person might have an easier time with exercise and who knows why?).
I agree with everyone saying not to compare yourself to others! Some people can walk four miles easily before surgery. Others avoid walking to the printer at work cause their bodies ache so much. I know I won't be walking 3.5 miles two days after surgery. The last time I could walk that far it took months to build up to it and I was 40 pounds lighter. And I'm 32 with no comorbidities (unless you count plantar fasciitis).
Do what YOU can do. In my experience, some days are easier than others. When I've walked for exercise, I could have one day when walking 3 miles felt easy and a few days later struggle to finish 2 miles. It helps me if I don't expect myself to be at peak performance each time I exercise. I give myself a little break on hard days and challenge myself on better days. Doing that, my average still improves over time, such that eventually what I did on those peak days becomes that I do on sluggish days.
Also, do what you LIKE. There are so many different ways to exercise. If you like walking, great. If it sucks and you love Water aerobics, do that. I've been most successful when I do things I don't dread so much.
    Good luck!

I was always active, I had just become fat and active before surgery. Therefore it wasn't hard to get right back into working out for a few hours a night within about 5 weeks of surgery. I started running again at about week 3 and then I went back to running and doing boxing classes by week 5. The same was true after plastics. Because I was very much in shape I had no problem walking a few miles at a time within a week or two of surgery.
Now I'm done with the sleeve and done with plastics and I am sitting at my desk debating if I really want to get my butt up and go to the gym this morning. When you're at goal weight it's easy to be a little lazy, however when you're newly sleeved, take as much advantage of that honeymoon time as possible. Eventually the weight stops falling off no matter how hard you work.
Also...maybe consider aqua aerobics! Very low impact and still a good workout.

    That is great sugabear44. I'm also 6 weeks post op -- down 20 postop. I now weigh 221 but I'm still in a 1x. Our bodies must be shaped differently since I don't think I'll fit into a 16w until I'm 170.

Hadn't realized you were in your first post surgery week. Yes, that first week is so wonderful! I hope you make it to 17 in 10 but even at 13 you have done great! I've heard people say that with the surgery the biggest weight loss is the first 6 months. I lost the most during my first week presurgery and then during next 2 months presurgery. Since surgery it has slowed down but I'm glad to say that I am losing again after a 6 day stall. Total loss so far is 52 lbs!

I wasn't doing much by way of exercise before surgery. Now I'm doing c25k, which accounts for 30 minutes a day, 4 days a week. I do circuit training one to two days a week for 30 minutes. I can't ever see myself at a Gym for two hours a day. Doesn't seem liveable to me over the long haul. Once school is back in session for my kidsI 'm not even sure if I'll be able to continue c25k.
My routine had to fit into my life... Not vice versa. Luckily my knees are fine... Scheduling is the challenge.

@DeeLove227- just started going to the gym(5 visits), but I was walking before just around my neighbor, starting to do some light yoga tonight. So gym three times and week and yoga (starting tonight) when not at gym. When at the gym I go about 3 miles on the treadmill in about 50 mins.
