I have had several people close to me who have had severe problems with lap band, my MIL had 2 both slipped and pinched off her esophagus and she was aspirating into her lungs, she almost died the last time, another friend had it was doing good then months later port got infected & she was in the hospital for days, I saw at my drs office yesterday that even when it's removed your stomach will stay that shape. I was sleeved on July 6th, I tried to do too much too soon and pulled my stitches (the 2 internal) now that really hurt but I'm down 28 lbs today I feel great, no swelling in my legs, just an overall well feeling. Good luck.

I finally felt thinner yesterday, but refuse to weigh until Wednesday, that's my weigh day. I was disappointed in my weight loss too, as I am eating so much less, you would think it would just fall off, but it's like my body has a mind of it's own, and is holding on to that fat, I hope my body gives in soon, and the weight really starts coming off. Everyone on here says it will. Good luck

Had my 6 weeks post op visit yesterday everything looking good, pulled labs interested to see how they are looking. I have lost 28 lbs I feel like that's pretty slow but dr says average is 3-5 lbs per week and I am in that range. Seems I am getting my Protein in any ideas to boost my weight loss? I faithfully take my Vitamins, drink my Water or crystal light, been walking although my knee limits that some, just any special food ideas or exercise ideas would be appreciated, don't think I'm in the stall phase it's just slow but I'm not complaining, still excited about my journey and committed to seeing this through. Thanks everyone!

I am 2 wks post op, I work from home, my surgery went great, first 2 days at home I feel fantastic, the 3rd day I strained & popped the 2 stitches inside my ab wall, my pain was extreme after that, hurt to move at all, yesterday & today have been a lot better for me, last night was my first night no pain meds. Still no regrets, no pain NO gain!!! It will pass, remember it's normal & rest, I kept an ice pack on the left side that actually helped more than the meds. Good luck to you.

One i learned from my career and I am a social worker. Work do not care about you. If you die at work they will roll you over and fill your position with another person, whom they can find very easily. Don't think that you are most important to them, you are still important to you. That's my soap box for today.

Weight does tend to fluctuate during the week, but it's more likely mental. After years of being fat, it's often hard to see yourself as anything but the fat girl. :/

Thanks for the advice and encouragement, guys! I think I need to accept that this is a painful process and keep walking/put ice packs on before I drive myself nuts.

I had terrible pain at the larger site on the left, dr said I probably pulled the stitches put in my abdominal wall, I kept ice on the area at all times, used pain meds, and kept as much pressure off of it as possible, slowly-very slowly the pain is getting better. I am 11 days post op.

Yes I was shocked by the pain. I had no idea it would be that bad. I was even questioning my decision of having the VSG. I too have a high pain tolerance and think I underestimated how I would feel due to previous surgeries where I was fine. The good news is that after a few days of walking around as much as possible the air dissipated and the pain subsided. For me it was all due to the air and wow I had no idea it could hurt that bad. Walk as much as possible. The first few days are the toughest. Good luck!!

tgorden1208 reacted to laguerr13 in Addiction to all this ?
I did this as a last resort, my health was taking a turn for the worse, and my pain was getting worse, I was obese by age 5, and tried lots of diets, and cure all medications,my weight loss made me yoyo, until last December on my my mom's death anniversary when I ballooned to 388lbs, I have never achieved the success that I am experiencing now, I'm down to 318lbs after being sleeved on June 10th, my diet is awesome, and I've been able to excel at the gym again, gaining strength very quickly and already starting to show definition, I never intended for the scale to dictate how my progress was going, instead I opted at reaching small milestones, I now find myself looking to see how far I can go with this, I was looking at the magic 299 lbs for Christmas, but at this rate it may be sept, oct, I also wanna see how much muscle I can build, and my knowledge of foods and their nutritional value is growing, I grill and Wok as much as I can, I'm just wondering if it is possible that as I embraced all this I somehow became addicted to it, you know giving up one addiction for another? Either way I don't think it's a bad thing, I just wanna honestly know if anyone else has experienced this, I'm coming up on "the stall phase" and I don't even care, BTW I also have lost 8 waist sizes so my motivation through milestones is working !!!!!

I think everyone has at least a few moments of regret or buyer's remorse after surgery. Most of us abused food for years and made it so that at least for a few weeks we can't. Plus waking up in a hospital bed is rarely ever seen as something we associate as being good.
The first two days after surgery, I wondered wtf did I just do to myself? Now I am glad I did it but I am sure that thought will pop up again from time to time. I think that is to be expected.

Tgorden1208 I know the feeling. Today I did good on my walking. The first walk was about 10-15 min. The second walk was a little over a half an hour. I put my shape wear on and it helped tremendously. I didn't have to walk around holding at my incision site! Every day gets better. I'm going to start taking this nasty milk of magnesia tonight for 4 days to try and have a bm. Its just not happening for me!

My sleeve was Monday, Monday I did super, Tuesday was a breeze, Wednesday I worked way too hard on a BM & felt something pull around my incision site on the left & it hurts so bad! Dr says it's probably the 2 stitches they put in & not to worry, haven't been walking like I should bc it hurts, guess I better up the meds & get moving. Thanks for all the posts I realize I'm not alone!
