My name is Doretha. I have 7 children I'm a homemaker. I want to go back to school I'm 32yrs old. I love cooking feeding the homeless and just taking care of ppl I live in Detroit Mi. It's not as bad as ppl think or put out there. I want new friends because since I've gained weight I lost a lot of ppl in my like because I don't like to do anything n I'll be having surgery in November I'll be sleeve thank God. I have a total of 11 brothers and 9 sisters. I have 4 niece's and 6 nephew's. Thanks for reading

Hi Michiganders! I just got my date today (12/16/15). I'm being sleeved at Henry Ford Wyandotte. I'm excited and super nervous. So far I have lost 10 of my pre-op 25lbs.

Hello all! So happy to have discovered this forum. My name is Lisa, I'm 31 and live in South Texas. I'm in the middle of my sleeve journey. I spoke the insurance company today and found out I was approved! So now to wait until Tuesday to schedule a date with my surgeons office, because of the holiday weekend. I've struggled with my weight, and subsequently my confidence for many years now. My depression can be crippling and I'm really hoping that among the health benefits, I really do start to feel better about myself.
It's been quite a year. At the beginning I took up kickboxing and now have earned my yellow belt. I train 4-6 days a week, and really hope post surgery to get into shape enough to rejoin MMA. I tried it a while back but at my weight was hard to find partners to grapple with.
So excited to have found this forum! Wishing everyone well in their journeys.

Seeing the scale at 277 last night and watching my 3 year old play on the tablet because I am too exhausted to get out and play with my kids.
Yelling at my 8 year old to not eat junk for Breakfast knowing that I eat it and bought some of it.
I feel so out of breath and exhausted. I'm ready for change!! Lord help me get healthy and stay healthy!! Wls targeted for January/February 2016.

Blew up? Lol.. That really stinks. I only have a desktop, and the lighting in there sucks, so I don't want to bother with just getting a web cam. It will be a while, so iPhone videos it is for a while!

After 6 full months of monthly visits with my surgeon, a cardio, Pulmonologist, endocrinologist and PCP clearance, psych eval, blood work, endoscopy, pre op testing, insurance approval, 2 week liquid diet, I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow!
I can't believe how much work I put into getting this surgery! And really the hardest work is ahead of me.
I am so hungry and my surgery isn't until 4 tomorrow so I have to be hungry for a while. It's hard. But I know this will get me closer to my goals, and closer to the person I want to be.
Tomorrow night it will all be over!

One day at a time, one step at a time. It's really not that hard and if you're lucky not painful at all. My advice:
Talk to your doctor and nutritionist. I mean really have a back & forth discussion and ask questions. Make sure you understand and are okay with their instructions. If you are physically able, start exercising now. I was taking Water aerobic for 3 years prior to WLS. I have arthritis in both knees so it was primarily to keep me mobile. I am certain that it helped make my recovery a lot easier. Try to avoid the negative stories. This board is a tremendous help and source of support. However the folks who experienced complications and pain tend to be a louder voice than those of us who had a pain free experience. It's good to know what good happen, but it's also important to focus on the positive. Lastly, and this is really important. DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS. There are many variables in how fast or slow a person loses. Comparing yourself to another is rarely a good idea. This is YOUR journey. Focus on listening and becoming in tune with your body.

The more you understand it the better you will feel. Research Research Research. The internet is at your fingertips learn as much as you can. Ask questions once you read things to get answers to your questions.
