Remix got a reaction from MrsKarenC2008 in July 10 2015 sleeves...
Hey there! July 11 here. I was doing well and then yesterday woke up to a 4 lbs gain?!! It's not even my time of the month. Must be Water retention or something cuz I've been working hard at eating correctly and exercising. It seems like 1 day I get all my water in, then the next day I dont so I need to work on that.
I'm down from size 16 pants to size 10 or 12! I'm a teacher so just finished my summer off. The looks on people's faces and compliments when they saw me was the best!! This includes students and other staff so I'm just basking in the attention, and why not? I worked hard for this!!

    Non-scale Victory.
It's the special and wonderful weightloss related victories that have nothing to do with numbers on a scale.< /p>
Example: fitting into your old jeans, running your first 5K, or noticing that someone is checking you out. haha

This is probably going to seem sooooooooo trivial to everyone else, but I had a great NSV last night.

John and I have never been cuddly when we sleep. #1 I would get so hot that I couldn't stand having him right up on me #2 He's a tummy sleeper with his elbows spread out over the bed, I sleep on my side with a body pillow.

Anyways, last night, he pulls me in super close to his chest, my back is touching his chest, and he wraps his arms around me, like completely around me (that's never happened before), and he nuzzled his head next to my neck and was asleep in a matter of minutes. I laid there just smiling like a goofy kid at a candy store, and I could feel his heart beating on my back. I laid there and actually felt his heart rate slow down as he began to drift off into a deep sleep. It felt so amazing to be that close, and not be hot and feel gross about myself. He had one arm under my head, wrap it up over me and the other arm wrapped around me the other side. I don't think I've ever realized how many "little" things we didn't do because of my weight.

He then started snoring (which he never did before), and I had to move a little because he was right next to my ear. But for the first time in 3.5 years, I literally fell asleep in my love's arms.

These might not be true after surgery but they sure are now:
If my body is ever found dead on a jogging trail, just know
I was murdered elsewhere and dumped there.

This week I walked my dog down to the small public beach along the beautiful St. Croix river. Kids are back in school so it was a very peaceful morning down there. I sat down on a half buried log to enjoy the view. I was watching some fishing boats go by when I realized that I was hugging my knees to my chest. What? I was astounded that I just naturally did that without thinking about it and that it was comfortable. Six months ago I couldn't/wouldn't have done that. Hurrah for that NSV! I was tickled pink as they say.

I think of mine as my bossy best friend. Her name is Stevie the Sleevie and she decides when enough is enough even if I want more. She refuses to like lunch meat. She sends it right back up my throat when I test her every three months. When I drink coffee she gets extremely vocal. Like Dory trying to speak whale. If I eat fibrous fruits or veggies she verbally groans and croaks at me.

Does anyone ever imagine their tiny tummy as an evil dictator who is trying to take over your body? Maybe I'm the only one?!? Sometime I imagine trying to reason with him... Me:This red, ripe Tomato is tasting so good, don't you agree tiny tummy? Evil tiny tummy: yes it is... Wait, I changed my mind. No it isn't, now let's see how fast you can run to the bathroom. Me: I don't get it, we've eaten tomatoes in things, why don't you like them by themselves? Evil tiny tummy: hahaha (evil laugh) because I decided we didn't today!
Me: tiny tummy, how come I can eat 5 ounces of Greek yogurt, 3 ounces of chicken, but only 1 tablespoon of tuna? Evil tiny tummy: because, I do what I want! Hahaha (more evil laugh).
Anyone else have funny tiny tummy struggles to share?

Remix reacted to Folly in The Grocery Store
I went grocery shopping today. I usually go once a week on Thursday. In our house the job of doing all the cooking and shopping sort of gradually fell to me. As time has gone on I've went from being a rigid evangelist of pushing healthy choices on people to accepting they're not going to be forced any more than I could be. I ended up somewhere in the middle with everyone. I encourage healthier choices and sometimes they listen. When I cook I sneak in what I can and try to minimize portions of what I can't. Usually, I don't eat things I make for others if I don't see the benefit outweighs the cost in fat and excess calories and carbs. It makes my body feel like I've just eaten garbage anyway.
So I've noticed that I'm shopping like it's for two households. In my house-hold we get lean meat, all the veggies we want, lots of fruit, a glass of wine every Friday night and some little bit of carbs every day.
In the other house they finally consented to going from whole milk to 2%, from fried chicken to baked - with skin still on, etc. In my house we might have an occasional bite of chocolate. In the other house they might have an occasional box of twinkies.
It's weird to be so separate from the people with whom you live with something as intrinsic as food.
I used to have a ritual after the big weekly grocery shop that involved my scarfing down a treat in the parking as soon as I got back in the car. (A box of donuts with chocolate milk perhaps). I still do this. Today the treat was those dry roasted seaweed things (30 cal, no fat, trace minerals and a little protein) and pureed vegetable juice (about 50 cal, no fat, Fiber and vitamin/mineral content good - both a little high in sodium).
It's been automatic pilot for long enough now that I'm starting to make choices within what I feel good about without the internal dialogue and argument first. This has been such a hard place to get to, I think part of me fought it because I didn't really want to surrender the things I did to make myself obese. I wanted to want to let them go so I could be thin again - or at least not remarkably fat - but the habits of decades were strong.
I wonder how others with families handle this issue?

So I'm in college, and in some of the big lecture halls they have those tiny seats with the little desks that fold down on the sides of the seats. Before surgery I always had to scoot way over or stand up while the person next to me pulled their desk up because my legs/butt were all squished up against it, holding it down. But today, my friend next to me pulled her desk out and I didn't even notice because my butt was no longer touching the sides of my seat. Whoohoo!

I'm 6.5 weeks post Op. Down 35 lbs and so many inches that I'm thrilled. I am swimming laps and jogging for an hour a day. Loving exercise because I'm amazed and thrilled at how much my body can do now!! Breakfast every day is a Protein Shake. Without that, I don't get enough Protein into my day.
I still struggle to get all my Water in but I'm working on it.
