It is easy to tell that you have overeaten about 10-15 minutes after you have eaten. The trick is to know when enough is enough WHILE you are eating. This brings up the concept of eating slowly with concentration. If you are distracted by TV, conversations, etc. you may pass to ideal stopping point and realize it later.
While you are eating, eating is your primary task, just as when your driving a car on a busy street. Overeating is not immediately lethal like losing concentration when driving but can be quite uncomfortable.
My policy is that when something especially tasty is before me I prepare myself mentally to take it slow, knowing that I could get carried away and stuff down too much, too fast. This is especially important when you go to a restaurant and order a meal that you know will mostly end up in a take-home box. Putting that fork down between bites and reflecting on the feasibility of the next bite is helpful. At home you learn to serve yourself the right portion and DON'T GO BACK FOR MORE.
I used to violate myself by putting down 2 pitchers of beer plus shots, sandwiches, and peanuts. 2 mountainous buffet plates, drinks, and deserts were also the norm. Now I have a wonderful belly that talks back to me in a loud voice and is saving my life.

Just got sleeved this morning! Everything went great and I feel great! Really tired but not in much pain at all I don't know what everyone was talking about. But coughing and walking to bathroom almost killed me. No nausea no drain tube no catheter and no gas pain!

The Jello helps coat the pills as they go down . I just take a bite of jello to wet my throat and then With the next spoonful l add one of my pills to it and swallow it with the Jello. pills aren't stuck no more . @@OutsideMatchInside

Being post up now I'm starting to finally feel better , the gases are passing and so is the pain from it.
Taking meds has been a real challenge , every thing seems to get stuck. The nurses gave me the tip of using Jello for them to slide easier and it sure Helps.
Walking, Walking and more walking helps So much too.
I'm having a really hard time with my Protein intak. I can Only Sip about 4 drinks from my Protein Shake before I feel "nautious". Hopefully that will get better over the next few days.
For anyone who has Problems with Protein Drinks the taste and after taste of them was my biggest Concern until I was told about unjury ' My NUT gave me a few samples to try and I was shocked how good it really tasted | especially the chicken Soup one.
Good luck to All who are having Surgery real soon take your time to , recover and don't rush ,all your going to do is hurt yourself in the process,
Ice chips will be your best friend that first day to day and a half.
Speedy recovery to everyone here and thanks for the support here.

These first few days aren't easy. You'll be real sore until the incision Inside heals. But so many have told that feel it is totally worth it. I
    Had my surgery on Tuesday
Here it is Friday an I'm feeling better everyday . If this what you want don't let anybody discourage you

3rd day of my liquid diet. Results so far... chicken broth is blissful, I'm very tired and fairly hungry most of the day and going to a pizza place with my kids and watching them eat cheesy pizza is pure torture. Focus on the big picture right? !

It's pretty good. I mix it with broth and it doesn't have the protein after taste.

I completed my pre-admission tests today. Surgery is a go for July 13th. I'm nervous and very excited. I think today made it more of a reality! Started my new walking routine with some friends tonight. My doc doesn't require a pre-op diet (but it is recommended) other than 1 day Clear Liquids the day before surgery, but for my own safety and peace of mind I plan to adhere to a low calorie high Protein diet in order to shrink my liver as much as possible. The next 2 weeks are going to fly by... by this time in 2 weeks I'll be on the losers bench.. EXCITING!!!

Hi yall - my surgery was at 9:30 and all went smoothly! My surgeon was really awesome and made it an out patient procedure I have been home since about 2:30. I've been sleeping a lot since then and taking the long way to get anything I need so I can get some extra walking in. (It's raining outside so I'm stuck doing laps in the house haha!) Right now my only issues are the trapped gas and tenderness in the incision where the stomach was pulled out. My goal right now is to just get some Water in - which is a very slow process!
Luckily my momma has been able to help me through it since she's just now starting normal food!
Happy to be on the losers bench and can't wait for everyone to join! Good luck to those who are having their surgeries soon!
