the vitamins help, if y9ure malnourished that certainly makes it worse, but it happens to most people. You're body is in shock from the rapid weightloss. It uses all the Protein and nutrients we get from our vitamins for daily functions. So hair, skin and nails get the short straw. I just went and got my hair cut short today. 9 inches cut off.

Today is my one year surgiversary and as of my weekly weigh in yesterday, I have surpassed my goal by one pound. My starting weight at the beginning of this process was 260. I was 236 on my surgery date. And I am now 164.
It's been a long road. The early days/weeks/months were rough. But for a long time now, I've just felt "normal". I eat 5-6 times a day. Always Protein first, but I occasionally have some treats. Juts yesterday I shared a piece of cake with my husband. I love not feeling deprived. If I want a treat of some sort once in a while, I have a little bit of it. I don't track my food or calories. The big thing to really get my head around through this whole process is that this is not a "diet". This is the rest of my life. I don't have any deadlines to meet with my weight loss. The goal was just to eventually get down to a healthy weight and stay there.
Were I on a "diet", I would have been tracking every calorie in and every calorie out. Sharing that piece of cake with my husband, I would have tracked those calories eaten and then tried to make up for it in calories burned so as not to "fall behind". I would have to "make up" those extra calories. Now... if I eat half a piece of cake, I don't sweat it. If it takes me a week to burn off those "extra" calories, what does it matter? What's a week in the grand scheme of things? It's definitely been a real change in thinking for me.
As for exercise, I've been killing it in that department. I've run several 5k races over the summer and plan to continue with my running and working on improving my time. I was pretty hard-core about strength training as well until my sister and her four kids moved in with us temporarily. That makes getting time to myself to SAFELY do strength training a real challenge, but I plan to get right back to it once they move out later this month.
So now, what you've all been waiting for: PHOTOS!

Has anyone considered blogging about their journey? I've always found writing to be a great outlet, especially blogging, since it has the potential to reach others who can relate. I was thinking about maybe vlogging as well?

My goal is too provide a straight-forward, blunt look at the good, the bad and the ugly of this process. Let me know if you are doing something similar! Here's a shameless plug for my first entry.

My mom has invited me over for dinner, then ordered pizza. Wtf. It's as if she's trying to rub it in my face. I also get frustrated when my bf wants to go out to eat, which is totally fine, but wants to go to places that have nothing I can eat. Or decides we shouldn't cook, he wants takeout. Come on. Get take out or go to grease ball restaurants with your friends. I think it's a little insensitive to do that in front of me, especially because I'm only 2 months out. It's going to be tough forever, but eventually we need to get used to being around food we can't eat or social events that aren't ideal for us. But I think it's reasonable to expect the first few months my family and close friends try to think about me when making plans. I feel selfish saying this, but this year is about me and I need to do everything I can to get the results I want. Sometimes it would be nice for a little more support

I'm sorry to hear about that. But I really know that feeling too. My best friend was super supportive when I was talking about it and super supportive asking how my appointments are going. Once I was home she came to visit and called me every day was great. And now I feel like she's distance herself from me. Is it because I don't want to go out to eat all the time? Is it because I want to do active things instead of just sit around? I unfortunately think jealousy is a big part of why we lose friendships. I definitely think my friend is someone who wishes she could lose weight, but wouldn't dream of getting surgery herself. Hang in there, I think this is a journey we are we really find who our friends are.

    Well..
I was gonna Celebrate post 100 by suggesting that all the Southern Hemisphere folk get together and run amok while all the Northerners sleep.
However, I've decided to be a whole lot more self-indulgent..
Now, this is the first time I'm posting pics or numbers so I'm finding it VERY confronting
    Anyway, here goes.
    I'm a big dude..
    Big!!
In the first pic (below) I was sitting at around 240kg (530 pounds)..
    See...
    BIG!!
This was in December last year.
Rock bottom came around the end of January.
At this stage I'll not give the gory details, but rest assured it involved, a breakdown, tears and thoughts of just letting go and disappearing...
I'd had my surgery postponed twice (finances first time and illness the second) and had had just about enough.
As it turned out, I didn't kill myself. Instead, I got my **** together and did the four weeks of pre-surgery liquid diet.
If I didn't want to kill myself before, I did then!!!
Anyway, I survived that as well..
Surgery day (Feb 25) came and the doc made no promises about being able to complete the sleeve..
However, six hours on the table and the man had performed a miracle..
    I was sleeved..
    More tears!!!
    On the bright side tho...
    No pain during recovery...
    No hiccups along the way..
Apart from the whole not being able to break down meat Proteins (that SUX!!!) and here I am today...
Speaking of today, that's when the pic on the right was taken..
I've no idea how much I've lost.
    I've only weighed in twice.
And I honestly can't remember the exact number (or the date) the last time I weighed.
My estimate is that I've lost around 60kg (130+ pounds)..
    It might be more..
Still a long way to go..
    But it's a great start..
    Thank you for your time..
If anyone ever has any questions, just ask me..
    Anything!!
And thank you for allowing me to feel comfortable enough to share my (personally) confronting details..
    Kinda...

I thought of another one (gosh this makes me sound like I have so many peeves... I really don't think I do!). I had someone tell me "I think wls is great, I just think people need to diet and exercise first". It amazes me how many people think that this is easy and that if you get wls yoy didn't try anything else first
