Sleeve vs. Bypass
Studies show that weight loss is more rapid with bypass in the first year, however, by year two, weight loss from the sleeve is the same as bypass. As OutsideMatchInside said, weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. Once you've reached your weight loss goal, those numbers flip when you go into maintenance mode. Here's something I've heard from weight loss veterans...If you think losing the weight is hard, get ready. Maintenance is 10X harder.

Pain under left breast
I'm sorry you're having pain. I had the same pain in the exact same spot. For me, it was gas. It felt like I had a bubble up under my ribcage and made it hurt to breathe. Gas-X might help, but walking is what helped me most with gas. Good luck!

Whoa! Classification change
@@newbeginnings1965 I can't wait to be just "obese". Way to go!!! @@maggie409 I completely understand!!! I normally couldn't care less about labels, but this was jarring when I was deciding, too.

I don't feel scared... But....
I'm sorry your body is showing signs of anxiety. I suffer from anxiety and wrestled with it off and on before surgery. I hope you can talk to your surgeon. Come here to these forums and ask any questions you may have; people here want to help. Read posts by other people. Keep educating yourself. Above all...deep breath in, slowly let it out. Repeat. I hope you feel better soon!

Whoa! Classification change
I'll try to keep this short, but I just realized something and can't stop the stupid tears... When I was researching sleeve surgery, I also learned a lot about BMI and obesity in general. Now, I knew (know) I am fat, so it's not like my head was in the sand, but I learned I was classified as Super Obese (BMI >50). What the H-E-double hockey sticks?? When I read that a few months ago, I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. There is no classification beyond that. While reading and learning on here today, like I do every single day, I happened to glance at my info. I'm no longer classified as Super Obese!!!!!!! Yay!! I know I have a loooong way to go, but there's something about losing the designation of "super obese" that makes me feel...dare I say...hopeful. Wishing all of you hope and everything wonderful. XO

Everytime I sip on protein now
Hmm. Are you sipping shakes made from whey Protein? I wonder if you've become lactose intolerant.

Keeping a Positive Attitude

Two Days Post Op
@@Stephanie Tom You're doing well for only being 2 days out. Keep up the great work! @@ylluz You rock! At 4 days out, I can do one and a half premiere Protein shakes a day and about 30 oz of Water. I think I need to drink more slowly and I'd have an easier time getting everything in.

Finally got my surgery date! August 17th
I'm so glad you get to go home tomorrow if you can tolerate oral meds! You've been where you needed to be, though, bless your heart. You're not alone with the number 2 issue...I'm going to have to take something tonight. Ugh. Happy you're feeling better!

Finally got my surgery date! August 17th
Glad everyone is getting settled, although I wish none of us were having issues. I'd really love to get out of the house, but I'm still a little weak. When I do my 10 minute walks around the house, my legs get weak. I'm not usually a wuss...should I be walking much further since I'm not feeling too bad?

Finally got my surgery date! August 17th
@@thinkingthin15 Congrats! The gas pain is totally brutal. Walking as much as you can really does help. I almost always burp two or three times while I'm walking laps around the inside of my house...it's too hot outside. Keep us posted!

Planning for Help at Home After Surgery
Your surgery was done as outpatient? My surgeon requires a two night stay in the hospital. I thought that was pretty standard. I'm kinda shocked! Yep, outpatient. All of the WLS done by the doctors in the group are outpatient, unless there are complications. I missed having the good pain meds for an extra day or two!

Todays sleevers☆☆
I really hope today is better for you! Walking has helped with my gas pains better than anything else, but since you're blood pressure is low, you need to stay in bed and let them take care of you. Here's wishing you a much, much better day!

Finally got my surgery date! August 17th
So glad to read good news for most of us. @@ylluz I'm so sorry you're having to deal with your period along with everything else. My surgery went great this morning. Planning for Help at Home After Surgery
My surgery was today. I'm required to have someone with me for 24 hours after surgery, but my hubby took some vacation days and will be with me a total of 3 days {including today). There were some things I definitely couldn't have done myself when I got home this afternoon, so I would suggest 24 hour help at an absolute minimum just in case. Hope that helps. Good luck!!
