  1. Ditto: 30 minutes before and after. Kate
  2. Congratulations for being over 'the other side'. Must be such a good feeling Gentle Hugs Kate
  3. @OKCPirate that's one of mine too - cutting my own toenails! Walking into a clothes shop and not pushing everything to the side so I can get to the biggest sizes straight away (oh and not hearing across the shop, "We don't do large sizes". Kate
  4. My hospital will give me numbing cream and something to relax me. I hate needles, really hate them and I was worried about this but they put my mind at rest. Have you lt them know? I am sure they will be able to help and take away that worry !! Hugs Kate
  5. @Cognorati001 Are you drinking enough Water with the shakes? Are you walking to get things 'moving' ? I hope you feel better soon, maybe speak to your doctor if it continues. Hugs Kate
  6. Is it wrong to have missed a 'last supper'.. that would only be able to be answered by yourself for yourself. Would you have gorged yourself with all sorts right before going onto the pre op liquids? Would that have made things harder for you or easier? Congratulations on your journey. Be sure to let us all know how you are afterwards!! Hugs Kate
  7. It's my birthday the day before surgery 23/07/15 so we went out tonight for a meal to Celebrate early and champagne ~~ whoot ~~ I had a lovely chicken and advacado salad and although I NEVER have puddings I shared a very small chocolate pudding with the Man (and when I say small it was TINY) We went to see a play, which was really good so all in all a lovely night out. One more day then I start the pre op diet. I can hardly wait ! lol. Hugs Kate
  8. @@kraken818 Welcome and congratualtions on the surgery and the start of your healthier life. Kate
  9. @@peg from Minnesota I made mine into ice cream and its lovely! Just a change from a drink and a different texture and in this heat a blessing lol Hugs Kate
  10. Congratulations ! It must have been so difficult and disappointing to cancel twice but now its on!! whohoooo Hugs Kate
  11. I used fitnesspal in 2013 when I lost 85llbs and found it invaluable in reminding myself of what I was eating on a daily basis. Tools like these are great but I don't want to obsess over it like I did before. Having been 'dieting' for the past 23 years I feel as if i should know how many calories are being put into my mouth. For me its the Protein and carbs thats new so I will be making sure I am having enough of the former and not to much of the latter and that wil take checking and then checking again. It might take time to settle into being comfortable about not checking every mouthful but I will get there. Kate
  12. It's never too early to prepare!! Kate
  13. i do remember on a post a few days ago someone did give the OP a reality check and a few moaned about people being harsh to newbies (she was post op). The reality is you should know what you are getting into, know what you need to do to suceed and know that its a tool not a quick fix. I have no doubt that these posts will continue forever and a day. And relax ~~ lol ~~ Kate
  14. I am a both or sometimes, maybe, depends on the situation, so a Yes/No answer doesn't really work for me. Interesting though. Kate
  15. @@Bandista I can really hear your joy in your post Enjoy!! Kate
  16. Going shopping with my friend karen. I swear I must do at least 8 miles at a fast pace by the time we get back to the car On a more serious note, walking the dog. I can talk about my day, stomp up and down hills five minutes from my front door, swear my head off and de-stress and he still loves me. He's a five year old black lab and needs walking a LOT every day. I am blessed to have him Kate
  17. I'm not being sleeved for another two weeks but just wanted to send you best wishes and hope others can help and support you. Congratulations and best wishes Kate
  18. First of all congratulations!! I hope you are feeling well and feel positive over the next few days that you WILL eventually get enough fluids in. From reading the forums, it's apparent that a lot of people struggle with getting the recommended 64 oz in, especially so soon after surgery but as @@Inner Surfer Girl states...sip, sip, sip then sip some more. Good Luck and gentle hugs Kate
  19. Have you tried blending the Protein shake first? Its a bit frothy but goes down so much easier and more like a milk shake. Add some ice too! I made some of mine into ice-cream as well and its not too bad. The other thing you could do is alternate with broth or clear Soups, adding non flavoured protein to them. I start mine on Monday but have tried different ways of getting them down over the past week. The other thing I did was buy coconut Water, with added protein and its yum. I will probably be here soon too, crying and wailing and saying I hate it but we need to do it to make sure 1) we are ready and optimal for the op and 2) healthy and protein full to make a good recovery. Best of luck and will be sat on the losers bench with you on Monday. We CAN do it, might jut take a bit of time and trial before we get to like it lol. Hugs Kate
  20. Isn't it fantastic that we have options rather than just one. I know in the UK, the sleeve seems to be the one everyone is having. Whatever you chose, for whatever reason, as long as it works for that person and they are healthy and happy, then it's all good in my book Hugs Kate
  21. @@littlebuddy213 Wonderful news ! Make sure you let us know how you are after the op ~ Hugs ~ Kate
  22. @@LanaMac same day as me whohoooooo I had my pre op day in hospital today. Everything went well and I feel more encouraged about the journey I am on. The staff were all so lovely and there are only 6 rooms in the hospital with a ton of staff both night and day so 1-1 is always avaliable. i am so very excited. Three weeks today. It. Seems. Ages. Away!! Kate
  23. i don't know anything about it but I am sure glad you feel a lot better !! Just wanted to say Kate
  24. Congratulations - You are doing SO well Gentle hugs Kate
