  1. Hells yes ! Well done. That's a nice jump, too. FTR.....I never....ever.....never embrace a stall. I hate them and just want bust through them. A week or so is one thing....but I get really freaking antsy if it last longer than that. I'm in one right now and going to change things up a bit and attack it differently for a while. This current stall bidness can kiss my arse !!!
  2. I've had both knees hacked on by a witch doctor many moons ago. Ankle repaired and three abdominal hernia repairs. The sleeve was a breeze. Nothing to it. Pain was a big non-event. They had my big arse up and walking laps two hours after i woke up in the recovery room and every 3 hours afterwards through the night and next day. Was walking around the neighborhood on the second day after getting home. I also had a hernia repaired at the time of my VSG. This was the only source of pain. The VSG was easier to recover from than my vasectomy, which was textbook and easily dealt with. I had an IV with pain meds administers through it. I had a button I could push to get a dose when needed. I'd hit it a few minutes before my walks....sort of as a proactive step. This was strictly due to the hernia repair. Was sent home with a bottle of liquid pain meds. Still have over 1/2 of it left.
  3. 3-4 pre mixed Protein shakes (Premier Protein & Pure Protein) per day was my pre op diet. There was simply no way that I couldn't lose weight during this time. It was guaranteed.
  4. Worked some overtime this weekend to cover a buddy's team for him. I've known the folks on his team and the many other folks outside of his department for years but don't see them all very often. I was flooded with many questions. The main one being, "How have you been losing the weight ?". I gave the exact same answer every time. "Thanks. I had wls last October and have been following my surgeon's instructions since." One guy really kept after it.....grilling me. Follow up question after question. I answered each to the best of my ability and spoke simply from my experience. He finally disclosed the fact that he and his wife are very concerned for their daughter and are in the beginning stages of seeking bariatric solutions for her. The next day he found me and approached grinning from ear to ear and extending his hand. He said he talked to his wife and they are proceeding......and with the same bariatric center I used. He seemed very relieved. It made my weekend. Relief is out there. Folks can find it.
  5. Wow. I guess you should have opted for the upgrade to the instant gratification surgery package. You know, the one where everything gets fixed and you are at goal in four days or less. Give it some time.....which you haven't done, by the way. Chill the heck out and get out of your own way. You are simply in the healing phase and your current prescribed diet reflects that. You'll be back in action soon enough. You've had significant surgery to alter your weight through altering your association with food. You know this right? So start altering it and begin to enjoy the losing.
  6. It's not bad. You space out your shakes to minimize hunger. Chew lots of gum. Drink lots of Water. Forget about food for a while and enjoy the weight loss that you'll see from doing the pre-op diet correctly. Know that you are doing your part to ensure a safe surgery. Get through it and on with the show. Good times are most certainly ahead.
  7. Yes it went very well...I slept all day once I left the hospital...I don't remember anything but closing my eyes..and waking up lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using the BariatricPal App The actual surgery is the very same way. Nothing to it.
  8. You are only hurting yourself by doing this. Trust & believe that you can have all your favorite foods later on. The difference is that you will have them at a future date when you can really enjoy them........enjoy them because your are rocking a new body and wearing the clothes you've only wished you could wear........and you'll be sitting in the smallest booths, too.
  9. Howdy. I"m 7 months post-op. I can eat and drink anything that I ever could. I choose to go low carb and I've not messed with carbonated drinks. I can take any medication. I've lost a good chunk of the weight I wanted to lose.....roughly 2/3. Best decision ever.
  10. Outstanding !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. It's a piece of cake......nothing to it. I see that it went well for you. Great nap, yes. Great nap and then home for more napping later.
  12. Yes. I tell them I had VSG surgery and have followed the new way of eating most of the time. There is no other way I can explain losing 185 lbs. What do I say, "Oh yeah....I was in Kamchatka on vacation and was bitten by a rabid sea snake while skin diving for dinner......and the venom burned away all my fat?".
  13. Grilled some wings yesterday. Gonna toss some ribeyes on tonight .
  14. Bamsucka !!!!!!!! You just delivered the goods right here, woman !!!! Way to bring it........and way to live it. The only possible thing I'll add to your list: *Don't embrace stalls.........stay disciplined and bust through those bishes !!!!! You are absolutely awesome......killer outlook and winning in life. Tremendous respect.
  15. Shrimp on skewers......hit 'em hard with Tai Chili sauce and let it ride.
  16. Outstanding !!!!! Huge respect for you for doing this.
  17. Quest bars were tried around the 4-5 week time frame. When chewed well they dissolved nicely. Some of the other brands i've tried we not so easy to handle due to them bing clusters of nuts, berries or granola....not to mention the unwanted carbs.
  18. Eat too fast......or eat too much........and you'll KNOW. Then you'll beg to un-eat whatever it was and to vow to never again do stupid stuff that causes it.
  19. The Gladiator drinks at Smoothie King can be really good. They are pricey......and....you can really rack up the calories if you let them add in all sorts of stuff. What starts out as a good idea can lead to a nutritional disaster.
  20. Similar experiences here, too. No complaints.
  21. My breakfast today was 2.5 ounces of smoked sausage and one fried egg. Stuffed. 7 months out.
  22. I'm seven months out and I can say that it does hit me harder. I don't usually have a meal in my system if I'm drinking anything. I know this is part of it. I don't drink as long as I used two, either. I've learned that nursing a drink or two is all I ever care for.
  23. New Orleans is a very cool place to visit. Not sure I'd want to live there. Char broiled oysters every afternoon and endless bars..........Lawd...I'd be in trouble. The city that drinks like no other........
  24. I hate the full feeling. I prefer to slowly eat the amounts I should and stop. Meal is over. Check the time and note when my 30-45 minute window has passed before drinking Water.
