  1. Two prior abdominal hernia surgeries and then the sleeve & 3rd hernia repair. I can say that the two best things to do are: 1) take a couple of pillows to hold with light pressure against your abdomen. It really helps. 2) make sure to get your pain meds prescription filled prior to surgery and have it ready for the ride home.
  2. Well played on all accounts. Tough calls made. Rewards forthcumming. Damnrite !!!!!
  3. So don't. Negative thoughts very much lead to negative results. Trust & Believe this. Free your mind and yer arse will follow. Long term focus......through daily adherence to your plan. Stick with the plan.....find your stride......and move as much as you can....walking, working, do everything with enhanced effort and vigor. sleep well. Stay hydrated. Watch as those pounds fall off. Long term focus..... You got this.
  4. It's all going to be good. The initial size of your meals will grow over the first year. It'll grow to the point where you can get down a cup or so of food per meal. Stick to Proteins and good vegetables and you'll do great....really great. Your weight will be something that you can now control.......and not have it control you. You are gonna benefit hugely from this decision.
  5. Whose laughing, woman ? I swear I'm going to ram the next left-lane-slow driver in the arse with my bumper. Gonna do it...........one day. Today is not that day, though.
  6. So........how are things going for you ??? By now.....we've probably all learned a lot about ourselves.....the good, the bad.....the ugly. We've been thrown off the horse and then got back on that beast and rode 'em hard again. How are you doing ? I'm feeling very confident in the future life and having a tool to keep the weight in the desired ranges. It's been a process.....and when I keep it simple it stays that way.......simple. When I've opened the door a crack.....the madness comes rushing back in. The old ways. But......but.....the sleeve is a beast of his own. He knocks down the madness like Bruce Lee thwarting would be attackers. He fights them off until I can rally and get back to my senses. Still having a lack of hunger as long as I don't escalate head hunger by grazing on sugary hell. Sticking to Proteins and vegetables and all is well.
  7. Dipshyts in traffic !!!!!!! My daily commute to work has me on the interstate. I can't freakin stand the idiots who slow drive and hog the left lane. I wanna shoot out their tires and spin 'em out the way. Fargin Bastages !!!!!!
  8. You are gonna be buying smaller and smaller scrubs. The final day I worked before going out for my sleeve/hernia repair was filled with funny stuff. It ended with me getting off work and stopping in the men's room on the way out....by the front entrance. It'd been a very long day and all my peers were long gone....I'd stayed over to get some administrative bs done in preparation for my 3 weeks off. I looked up in the mirror as I was washing my hands and saw myself wearing a polo styled short sleeve shirt that had been well worn.....loved the fit and style of it. It was my "skinny shirt". Something about that damn shirt that always made me feel good wearing it. It began life as black....but was a washed out charcoal by then. Anyway......I peeled it off and threw it in the trash and walked my jiggly beer gut ass outa there and across the parking lot to my car. That was 7 months ago. The shirt was a 6x. I just ordered some new work shirts yesterday. They are sized in 2xlt. I've done nothing special....nothing extraordinary. I've simply followed, for the most part, followed my surgeon's plan. You will be loving those next level scrubs in your near future !!!!!!!!! Life is good.
  9. 6 days post op you are still dealing with safety issues for your healing stomach. Stick to the plan and quick doing risky stuff. Also, trust me on this.......eating sugars and starches will simply make you want more of the same....it begins a horrible cycle of sugary death. Avoid the sugars......stick to the Proteins that are on you plan.....break the cycle and you'll ease into a pattern that is free of hunger and gets the scale moving the intended direction. It only takes about a 24 period of discipline and you'll be in the hunger-free low carb zone. Trust & believe that this will work. FWIW, I'm doing the exact same thing. I let some stressful times at work be the reason I grazed. i caught myself and realized the grazing desire was simply amplified by my body's response to sugar. Once I cut it out.....I felt immediately better and in control again. So easy to do. Just takes that first 24hrs of discipline. You can do this.
  10. Don't have the struggle. Avoid it by simply doing what you know is right......sticking to the plan. Avoid struggles by keeping it simple. Just do it.
  11. At work when I get hit with a craving.......I carry my happy arse over to the Starbuck's kiosk and grab a cup of Cafe Verona with splenda and a shot of French vanilla creamer. I follow it with a 30 oz bottle of Water and I'm good to go for a while. I don't really get hit with cravings around the house.
  12. As others have said....cut out all sugars and starches. Measure your calorie intake using my fitness pal or the like. Keep your body flushed out with Water.....constantly drinking. Get moving.....walk, walk, walk. Begin a supervised weight training plan, too. 10% in 12 weeks is very achievable. You'll get that much and way more if you start right away and kick things into gear.
  13. Damn straight it has.
  14. I had a massive umbilical hernia repaired at the time of my VSG. The surgeon warned me, though, that it should be considered a temporary repair and I'd need to allow him to do a more permanent repair after I lose my unwanted weight that was helping to contribute to reoccurring hernias. It's visible in my profile "before" pictures. The repair done at the time of VSG with the tools they use for this made for an easy recovery compared to the two open type hernia surgeries I've had in the past. Much, much easier.
  15. Best I've felt in a long, long time. Very glad to have taken on the weight battle and utilized wls to assist. It's been a fast few months and I feel 20 years younger......even though I know that another hernia repair and shoulder surgery is needed soon. So much more energy now.....energy and enthusiasm to take on challenges and enjoy myself during the process. No regrets whatsoever about my sleeve surgery.
  16. Ah.....such a stellar thread. It has started my last two mornings with grins. Grins.....and a bit of science thrown in for good measure. And speaking of measure......good to know that big gulp straws are welcomed at #teamstraw. #wrinkleprevention.
  17. Check
  18. Interdasting.......see.....now this brings forth other questions to mind.......for example: how do you approach these sputterings that have occurred........do you stop and wipe them up......or keep on being a trooper until the .....the coffee....is finished. Personally, I think that spitters are quitters. I admire and appreciate when the job gets done fully.....when the task at hand is.....well...is no longer at hand but has grown to greater scales and is tackled in other ways. Okay.....I've gotta get my arse into the shower and get ready for work. Gonna be a long day. Looking forward to the weekend and hoping for some more time to discuss this matter more deeply.
  19. I hope it don't change I have came too far to be set back. Like I know better.... The dietitian classes I took for six months was for this. Omg I am so disappointed with myself. But thanks and I will start doing a pure liquid diet no Jello no pudding just Protein and water Sent from my Z958 using the BariatricPal App Good strategy. I don't think that getting 90 vs 70 is going to be a big problem so long as there was no other calories from sugars, starches or junk. If it was simply getting a bit more protein due to brand changes and all other macros remained the same.....I'll bet you are fine. Protein and water will certainly have the weight coming off.
  20. Straw question for the straw members ? Do you prefer a straw with the flexible accordion joint.......or the long thick pipe style straws that come with bucket sized drinks ? Have you ever tried to work with a little coffee-stirrer sized straw. Did you find it a fun challenge or get frustrated by the effort required vs the tiny reward ? Do you prefer the straw to fit your vessel or is oversized always better ? Do you ever chew on your straws ? These are the things I wonder over this morning's coffee.
  21. Well done. Great attitude. Go forth and rock this surgery !!!!
  22. I'm gonna make this sometime next week. Must be done. Thanks again for the recipe.
  23. It's natural to overthink things in the months leading up to the surgery. I know that I did. I wanted to take action that would get me "there" sooner. lol. Now.....looking back on things from my perspective as someone who is 7 months post-op......I'd have simply told myself to chill......relax......and do just as you are doing and cut out all sugars and refined carbs.....exercise more......get plenty of rest and enjoy the process. Know that you'll be able to eat any of the foods you've always enjoyed, so there is zero need to have "goodbye parties" with them. Start the aggressive weight loss approach now and roll into your surgery significantly lighter. Relax. Don't overthink and add stress. You are doing great with your planning and will glide through this process.
  24. "Bubbles" is a very lucky man. LMAO !!!
