Congrats!!!! so from start to finish how many months did it take you to be approved? I am sooooo happy for you!!! I will be seeing DR Khalili this Wednesday,where about in So Cal are you? Im in the San Fernando valley:cool2:

I just got my apointment with Dr Khalili I will be seeing him on 4-23-08 im sooooo excited!! I have already had a blood test and i went for the sleep study last night, does getting the referal to see Dr.Khalili mean that my insurance is willing to let me have the surgery? or is this still no guarantee i will get it???

I had the same thing happen to me with several different doctors,I just kept changing doctors till I finally found one who agrees that I need weight losss surgery,and thank God I finally found one! i had so many tell me to just diet & excerise, I know what your goin through

Im also goin throught the process through ceders sinai,im still in the approval stages,but if I get approved my surgery will also be at Ceders!! what part of cali are u in? oh yeah congrats!!!!!

Does anyone else have this insurance? just wondering how long it takes to get aproval with them

Hi all,well i just came back from my doctors and she feels i am a great candidate for lap band! finally a Doctor who agrees with me! she said my bmi is 40 my blood pressure is a little high and i am borderline diabetic,she said she will do everything in her power to get me this surgery!! Im afraid to get excited out of fear of gettin let down if they dont approve it,I have blue cross californiacare,Can anyone tell me what to expect in the weeks or months ahead,Im soooo nervous I have to have this surgery its my only hope I have struggled with my weight all my life, let me know what kind of journey i have ahead of me please,thank you all !!!:redface:

Hey everyone. I went to see my doctor yesterday and he is sending my insurance (blue cross hmo) paperwork to see if I can get the lapband now i am 5'4 and 231 LBS he says i am 109 LBS overweight.BUT he said it is probably goin to be hard to get my insurance to cover it since I dont have any health problems (yet) Isnt being 109 LBS overweight a health problem in itsself?! I guess im tryin to get some opinions & advise as far as should i prepare for a battle with my insurance ? anything I can do if they deny me? how can I persuade them? thanks for your input!

thank you so much! i have bc also and i was just told they dont like covering the lapband,they would rather cover the bypass beacuse they dont want to pay for the fills,have u ever heard of that,i dont want the bypass i want the band!

okay I have been overweight all my life & and I have now come to the conclusion that I can not lose weight without some help (lapband) I can eat right & exercise my problem im always hungry,if i can knock out the hunger I can manage the rest,my question is i have been reading alot of these forums and i dont see alot of people with success stories (maybe im not looking in the right place) but I see alot of pain,infection,problems eating,discomfort,what im asking is where are the people who are doin well with the band,because honestly i have read some things that have me seriously thinking about not doing it,please help!
