very glad I found this forum subject. I have been banded for 4 years now,within 1 year of being banded I was diagnosed with hashimotos, and then a year later Alopecia ( I am now completely bald) I have now been told im insulin resistant....Im not a doctor but i sure think the band gave me these problems,I did not have one health problem before the band,I was fat but not sick!!! I am scheduled to have my lap band removed November 9th 2012.. Im hoping that maybe removing the band will stop these auto immune issues,I sure would love to no longer be bald!

well i have been banded for over 2 years and i have clumps of hair coming out & bald spots I have been to several doctors and had tons of tests done and NO ONE can tel me anything They all say there is nothing wrong with me! Im sooooooo angry i have almost no hair left and 4 bald spots I have pretty much given up because I have seen every doctor i can:sad:

hello all! well I am 2 years banded & have almost no hair!! I have bald spots everywhere I have been to every specialist and no one can tell why this is happening I am sooooo depressed and i have tried everything. I even see a dermatologist who gives me steriod injections into the bald spots which does help the hair grow back but them there are always new bald spots popping up! I feel defeated at this point and guess i will have no hair at all shortly I take Vitamins,Biotin, Protein., liquid Iron any other suggestions besides a wig would be helpful

well I was over 2 years ago,and guess what!? Im still losing hair!!!!! im almost bald in fact one morning i lifed up my hair on the right side and i had a bald spot! i have been to the dermatologist she have me steriod injections into the bald spot, prescribed a foam to put on it & told me to buy womens rogaine,but no one can tell me what has caused this, i have barely any hair left and the bald spot is getting bigger instead of smaller . I am soooooo upset by this.I can not wear my hair up at all & i wonder if i am going to go totally bald. and yes I have been going through this for almost 2 years!!!

Ive been banded 2 years now and to this day can not eat,bread,rice,or pasta (thank God) if i was still able to eat those things i would have never lost the weight i have lost so far

Ive been banded since 6-26-08, no problems just very sloowwww weight loss

Well I know I am a food addict thats why i havent lost as much as i could have . they fixed my stomach to bad there is no band for my brain . Now that I know im a food addict ,how do i get help for that????!!!! I dont think i can afford therapy:sad:

Hello all! okay here is my question .... i have given up almost every food i ever ate that was bad for me since being banded,BUT the one thing i cant seem to give up is monterey jack jalepeno cheese! i ate 2 slices a day (deli slice) my question is could cheese really be the reason i am no longer losing any weight ?! (5 months) some people say its really fattening and some say its no that bad... i sooo hope i dint have to give up cheese!!! I am French we love bread (which i can no longer eat) and we love cheese! lol help !!!:tt1:

well for me personally i can literally not eat those foods,because the get stuck so even if wanted to i can not which is a good thing if i was still able to eat bread,rice,or pasta i wouldnt not have lost any weight

Same here! i used Chantix,and have been smoke free for a little over 2 years now :wink:

I also have the same problem. i was banded June 2008! and it just barely has started to slow down on the hair loss. i went to several doctors including my surgeon and no one had an answer for me. sorry but i am at a loss for words or answers as well

I also had my surgery at Cedar Sinai, i liked it there and i did spend the night there, so your surgery day is fast approaching Congrats!

I wish they had told me that most likely i would only lose 50% of the weight i need to lose. so now i am down 54 pounds which is half. but now it wont budge at all. i count calories and have really been kickin some azz at the gym , and still no friggin weight losss in 4 months, i gotta say i wish i had gotten bypass surgery instead.Just my personal opinion

I so agree with you i am sooo the sweet addict! if i eated what i want in small portions I wouldnt have lost what little weight i have lost so far!

Well i was banded June 2008! and have only lost 54 pounds i weigh 189 right now far from skinny,and guess what?! i have only 5.3 cc in my 10 cc band and they cant put anymore in because whenever they try to even put .2 i get stuck and cant even drink water! so my surgeon told me it will be up to me to eat only a cup of food, also i was eating 1200 calories a day and exercising every other day,well the dietician told me i should go down to 1000 calories a day,not easy to do when u dont have alot of restriction,one last thing my surgeon said i might not lose any more weight and no one will tell me why they think this, i havent lost any weight in 5 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now thats what i call real frustration!!!!!!!! you guys are just starting out be easy with yourselves you will make it!

I dont lose weight on 1200 calories. my dietician has put me on 1000 calories a day! WTF! maybe i should buy one of those buggs to!

well i have 5.3 cc's in a 10 cc band. on friday they tried to put another .2 cc's and i couldnt swallow water! they said that was the smallest amount they could put,and since i wasnt able to tolerate water they took the .2 cc's out and kept me back at 5.3 ,they said it will be up to me to eat no more than a cup because they cant add any liquid , im a little disapointed,i have gained 2 pounds and i am more hungry than before but they say they cant do anything about it .

Mine is still falling out! and i was banded June 2008! and no one can tell me why! I eat almost all protein,i take my vitamins,i even take Biotin which is suppose to help. i have lost sooooo much hair!! all my blood work came back fine. so no one has an answer for me, kinda given up hope on figuring out whats wrong
