Thanks for the dosage info on the Biotin.
As for the Gelatin, are you eating Jello, or drinking something like Knox Gelatin?
TIA
I did not experience hair loss at all. I did take Biotin, but not the little 325 mcg that Walgreen's sells. I got the 10,000 mcg (also at Walgreen's) and took two a day - and still do. Also, I have gelatin every day and make a fresh pot of bone broth Soup every week.
I am 18 months out and at age 63 have the thickest healthiest hair I have ever had. Even my hairdresser has noticed and asked what I am doing. Other than that, I do the same as almost everyone else, such as drinking my fluids (80-100 ounces of Water daily) and getting in my Protein (80 - 100 grams daily).
Prior to surgery, my nails were brittle and flakey, too. Along about month three post-op they started to respond to excellent nutrition and supplements. My skin was flakey up until then and has gotten very soft. But I think that is in part to exfoliation with each shower and a rubdown with almond oil. Boy...this is so much work - but I was warned.

Probably wouldn't hurt to check with MD

Have you had your gallbladder out, Shannon?

YAY! That was fast! Hope you continue to do so well.

Wishing you an uneventful recovery! Rest up and take care.

I'm often up in the middle of the night too - work the night shift.

So, how are you doing?
I'm anticipating a VSG by Dr. Pham in Sept or Oct.
Love the MD so far, but can't say too much for his NUT or the "exercise" instructor. We all sat in the doctor's waiting room while the instructor explained pre-post op exercises - but they weren't demonstrated because she was pregnant. No way to know if we'd be doing them properly once we got home. And some of the info from his NUT was just "nuts".

You look awesome! Congrats!

Congratulations on a job well done, and good luck!

I agree, Padremama. My nutritionist gave me poor nutritional info. She actually advised eating converted brown rice. Why bother? There were other recommendations that were off mark as well. She was promoting a certain brand of Protein powder & Vitamins big time. Wonder if the office gets a kick back?
I'm an RN as well as a personal chef, so although I'm no expert, I do know a little and I've been able to research what's right for me on my own.

Horrifying & hilarious, Jean! I would have had to finish the entire bottle of wine to get over that... Thanks for sharing your story.

At one time in the 70's there was the Arlene Dahl Diet. She was an actress, for those of you way younger than I...
Anyway, the diet was basically eggs, steak & salad - plus a whole bottle of white wine - which you started drinking at breakfast! IIRC you were s'posed to lose 5 or 10# in a couple days. Couldn't get past the wine for bkfst, tho.
Then there was the Olympic Ski Team Diet which consisted of hardboiled eggs & 1/2 grapefruit for bkfst; hard boiled eggs, 1/2 grapefruit, & salad for lunch; and steak, salad, hard boiled eggs & 1/2 grapefruit for dinner. Guaranteed to lose 20# in 2 weeks - and it worked, too. But to this day I HATE hard boiled eggs!!! LOL

Nothing yet, Bobbe - my surgery won't be until Sept or Oct - just hoping it will be covered.
Was really commenting on the vagaries of the ins co's. Stuart lives in FL but has BCBS of NY (or vice versa). Kiki lives in AZ but has BCBS of Tennessee.
No wonder people have a hard time figuring out if they're covered - and that includes the MD offices, too.
Sorry if I added to the confusion.

How long have you had your surgery, chunkylover? Have you always eaten carbs post-op? Sorry for all the questions - I just try to learn everything I can. Hopefully I'll be sleeved some time in Sept or Oct.
-
Yeah - I have BCBS of Mass - and I live in NY!

I, too hate the glitter, rhinestones, and sequins. Can't stand the shiny, clingy fabric they make most tops out of! And why all the cut-outs and/or macramé tops?
Why can't someone make a nice tailored blouse like Ina Garten and Martha Stewart wear? Much more flattering.
