  1. Sure.....we can all just get along. However.....we can also take it to a higher level by nudging some silly notions outa each other's noggins from time to time. I know for a damn fact that my trajectory has been improved a number of times by the vets here....who posted their opinions that were clearly against my grain and yet their wisdoms hit home. There is no substitute for experience. My opinion is that only a fool would shirk that wisdom, when provided. I've learned to listen carefully.....evaluate and then either incorporate it or call it rubbish and move on. I'm all about not reinventing the wheel. If a template for success is laid out in front of me......why in the hell do I want to venture down an alternate path ???????? I'm a hardheaded guy and don't listen well at times......but I've become a quick study when needed......in crunch times. I consider the health scares I've had the year leading up to my VSG such a "crunch time". I've listened carefully to those who've gone before me......and I am better for it. I've learned to accept life according to the words of a woman that I cherish......"Suck it up Buttercup" and move forward. Only a damn fool would denounce the collective wisdoms of successful patients who've made 2+ years and beyond and are rocking the results. Only a damn fool.................

I always welcome advice from veterans who have been successful with their weight loss. I'm 8 months out from surgery and I still learn things about VSG every day.

  2. Relationship tip, if she ever wants to "spice things up" with role play, make sure you know when to start. I got into the role, and realized, she forgot we were starting after I had been doing it for 5 minutes. Awkward.

  3. Eating burnt toast is not my forte......done it for about as long as I care to.

I'm only 2 weeks out but I have heard about the dreaded 3 week stall. The only thing I've read was to increase your fluid and protein intake but I would like to know what to do as well once my time comes

@jalleyne1972 thanks...the surgeon's office told me that I need to bring $168 on the day of pre-op for the surgery but she said that the hospital may call me a few days prior to surgery and request that I pay the remaining $400+ of my out of pocket that I have left SMH. I met my deductible for the year already which is why I made sure the surgery gets done before the end of the year. Good luck to you, I hope you get approved! :)

  7. 2lbs away from 100lbs lost!!

  8. Ninety days ago yesterday was my surgery date and I feel as though I was just released from the hospital due to all the drama I have suffered (my story below). Things are somewhat better because I had to remove myself from the main person who continues to disturb my peace, my only daughter. Oh yes it bothers me very much but I can no longer internalize and worry about her dysfunctional, emotional rages that she places on me. My main priority is to be healed and move on with my life. No matter who and what has to go my answer is ...bye, bye, bye!!! Can anybody relate to the need to adjust some people in your life to focus on yourself?

  9. I was so excited when I got on the scale this morning! 1. I lost 1.4lbs yesterday 2. I hit one of my goals and surpassed 125 lbs lost! Only 19 pounds from my ultimate goal!

  10. My husband bought an apple pie last Sunday. It's still around 1 week later & I haven't touched it. < my mantra> I can and will co-exist with treats others enjoy without touching them myself.

  12. 8 weeks PO and 51 pounds down. Enjoying the progress.

  13. Yesterday, I stepped on the scale and was chagrined to find that I was still 1 pound away from a big milestone, as I had been for the past almost 2 weeks. Today I woke up and I lost two pounds overnight, which officially puts me 101 pounds less than my heaviest weight ever. It's a surreal feeling, mainly because I still have such a looong way to go, and I can hardly remember what it felt like to be a hundred pounds heavier than this. This time last year, I felt hopeless, worthless, and like I would never feel good about myself again. I was prepared, at age 22, to die young and humiliated because I felt like I had no control over my body whatsoever. I was seeing a nutritionist and a PCOS specialist and they were at a loss for how to help me. Now, 1 year later, 101 pounds are simply... gone. What an amazing life this is!

  14. Surgery is a week from today and I am getting so nervous.

  15. I just got approved for my vertical sleeve surgery!!! Date is set for 12/2/2015!! Woot Woot!!

  16. Just did my final weigh in...the insurance coordinator said she is going to submit the paperwork to Aetna and will call me with an update...my fingers are crossed!

    1. Lexigurl82

      Lexigurl82

@SLIPSHOD not yet...I called Aetna on Thursday and they told me that the surgeon didn't send in the request until 10/14...the Rep then said it could take up to 15 days for a determination... I hope it doesn't take that long!

  18. Had my first Carbonated drink yesterday since I got banded. Got nauseous 2 hours later. Not worth it :( I loved carbonate drinks :(

  19. Treated myself to a 1/2 way to goal gift...a new purse & wallet. I will carry it until I meet goal as a reminder of how far I've come and that I need to continue to make good choices.

  20. I was told by someone in the cafeteria at work that I was "wasting away".

good job on your weight loss. It sounds like that person is just envious of you...obviously you don't look like a crackhead if they are asking you for advice...think about it, who wants to look that way? I say keep up the good work and don't let anyone break your spirit. Just be happy and healthy!

  21. I have been avoiding purchasing any new clothes, as I am sure I am not done losing weight yet, but all of my jeans and shirts fit so big. I tried a Salvation Army but they didn't have anything bigger than a 2xl shirt or a 42 waist. Not sure exactly what I needed yet, I went someplace Familiar. DXL (formerly Casual Male XL), or as I like to call it, "The Big and Fat Store". I was a little shocked, and a lot giddy when I found out why my 52 waist jeans and 5xl tops were so big. I need a 46 waist and a 3xl shirt. BOOM! Happy times, folks!

Congrats! Buy clothes from Goodwill or any thrift stores until you hit your goal weight. also, make sure of the clearance racks at Walmart, Citi Trends for example. I can't wait until I can start buying smaller clothes :)
