The great straw debate!
@@Andrea72 @@CHM Ladies, At this point I'll no longer be taking part in this conversation... While I have PLENTY to say, I'm afraid that a certain Forum Moderator with a 'lipstick' related nickname would relish the thought of banishing me for my use of inappropriateness... So with that in mind, I will bid you both good day and withdraw from the discussion... As always, prayers going "Manah manah - Do doo be-do-do"

The great straw debate!
I'm just having a flashback to Feb 26 last year... That was the day after my op... The surgeon comes in and checks me out... He asks what I had for Breakfast... I said, "Nothing.." THE SURGEON goes to the fridge and gets me a chocolate milk... HE TAKES THE STRAW, breaks the little plastic seal on the milks and just slides the straw right in there... He then hands the drink to me and says "Nice and slow. Drink it over about half an hour.." The surgeon gave me a straw... Straws are good.. The Defense rests, Your Honour...

How Has WLS Changed Your Social Life?
My social life has changed dramatically since my surgery... When I was fat, I used to go out drinking, gambling, loose women... You all know the type of stuff.. Now I spend my spare time here - Talking to you lot about Protein, hydration and poo... Yeah... Life's good...

Surgery scheduled for June 7th
@@Capri3Js I've posted this before and it can work.. Try chewing/crunching on some ice.. It makes the body think that its chewed something rather than just 'drinking' all the time... It also has the added bonus of hydrating you...

What Is Your Brilliant Substitute for a Craving?
Oh yeah, my craving substitute... I used to crave a nice long sleep in before waking up to a nice, hot, triple espresso... I've replaced that with 4am wake up calls, cold trips to the gym and alternating between protein-induced diarrhea and constipation... Yeah... F*cking brilliant!!!

Feeling Judged
@@jenmcd623 I've no idea what other advice you've received in this thread because I've not read the responses... I'm kinda like that sometimes... Anyway, here's what I think... In your original post, you said the following - "This is the first time I've had anyone have negative response to my surgery." The first time! How great is it that everyone you've mentioned it to has been supportive? I think that's outstanding!! So why let this one negative person get to you? The reality is, those who were supportive have also judged you.. They just came to a different decision.. We ALL judge people ALL the time.. Just because it doesn't always result in a negative doesn't mean we're not judging... In my opinion (and that's all this is), disregard this person's negativity. You don't need it. Don't focus on it. Focus on the rest of the people who have judged you and your situation and found you worthy of their support... Prayers going "Shimmy shimmy cocoa pop; Shimmy shimmy rock.."

Relationships or meeting someone new post op
Ok... Have laptop, will share... I'm not sure if what I say is what you were getting at but it kinda fits with your post.. I'd also like to preface this with the following - What I'm about to say is simply my opinion... I'd not be so bold as to assume I was speaking on behalf of all men... My opinion... Mine!! As a guy, there's a better than average chance that I'd not really notice your (anyone's) scars.. No, not because I'd be distracted by various other naked parts (tho that'd help).. But I'd not notice for a different reason... As I was discussing a few days ago with someone VERY special, when I'm looking at someone who I'm attracted to, I don't notice their (self-perceived) 'faults'... You've a 'crease' above your eye when you smile? - I didn't see it. I was looking at your eyes... You've a dimple that sometimes shows up and sometimes doesn't? - I didn't notice. I was focused on the way your smile lights up everything around it... You've a few little scars on your belly? - I had no idea. I was admiring your feminine curves and wondering why you weren't kis... Well... You get the idea... In my opinion, it's a female thing to notice such things in yourself, as well as in others... It's not necessarily a bad thing.. It's just a thing... I certainly don't mean this in a nasty, sexist way.. I just mean that we're different, guys and girls.. As a guy, I notice the parts of 'you' that I like.. As a girl, you notice the parts of yourself that you don't like... So ultimately, I'd not worry about what to say.. Chances are, it will never really be an issue... If it does get asked, have a cool story planned - Pirate knife fight, shark attack, mongoose invasion.. That kinda thing.. Guys like a scar with a cool story... Good luck to you and your 'somebody new'... ***I told you it'd be worth waiting for!!!
