    Hooray for all you losers!
I'm almost 7 weeks out and although my pants are getting baggy, my blouses and shirts are ridiculously huge on me. I was going to shop for new blouses over the weekend when I remembered my "other" closet. That's where I would hang clothes that were too tight, plain old too small or would be too small soon (the rate I was gaining was horrendous!). I went "shopping" in my other closet and came out with 10 new or almost new blouses and a couple pairs of slacks! Some had tags still attached!????. I saved that money I was going to use for another time when I can spend it on REALLY small clothes. ????????????Woohoo!

Julie is freakin fabulous!!!! She scheduled me for surgery the same day I was approved!!! I didn't really bother speaking to anyone else I dealt with Julie all the way because I didn't like being redirect to speak to someone's mail box she always answered the phone when I had a question and called me right back if it got extremely busy!!! So, I was sleeved exactly one week ago. I am back at work (desk job) and doing fine, other than fatigue. My big excitement, however, is that I have two pairs of shorts that I wore before surgery, and they are literally falling off now- going straight into the Goodwill pile. I'm so excited. I haven't weighed myself and don't plan on it until my post-op appointment. This recovery is not easy, but it feels good to see a difference!

If you're not uncomfortable I wouldn't worry too much... but I'd also try "smooth move" tea. I didn't go for nearly a week after my surgery and my nutritionist said this was normal between the anesthesia and the liquid diet. However I found it weird and drank the tea to speed things up. It's good to have on hand for this sort of thing.

Sleevefornellie reacted to leag78 in Former smokers. where ya at?
I quit smoking 1 month prior to my surgery. I'm currently almost 3 months post op, 4 months smoke free. Every day is still a struggle because I still think about smoking from time to time. But the thing is, I'm okay with that, because I come out on top, and I applaud myself on being able to not give into temptation. The point is whether you are 1 day smoke free to 10 years smoke free, just being able to put the pack down and never looking back is an amazing accomplishment because some people have told me that they'll die with the cigarette in their mouth because they feel they can't quit, and to me that's the saddest thing I ever heard. So I chose to not let the cigs rule my life like that.

Go back to weighing everything you eat and tracking your intake on myfitnesspal or a similar nutrition tracker. Set a strict daily goal for Protein, carbs, and calories. My suggestion for weight loss mode for someone at your weight would be 900 calories max, 40 grams of carbs max, and minimum of 75 grams of protein daily. For three days, eat nothing but lean protein that you cook yourself, small amounts of healthy fats, and green veggies. After that gradually add in tree nuts, fruits, dairy, and legumes, but keep tracking and keep to your daily goals. Until you get back to your goal weight, avoid all grains, sweets, and starchy veggies (potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, peas, carrots).
The first three days will be tough but once you get through them, it gets easier.
When you get back to your goal weight, weigh yourself every day and go back to a strict eating plan and tracking if you get 5 lbs above it.
    Good luck!

I felt the same way!! I thought because I was bigger than most (347) that I would lose faster but I only lost 12 lbs my first month. Talk about disappointed and feeling like I wasted $20,000 on this surgery. I am now 15 months out and have lost 153 lbs. my weight starts with a 1 and I can say it has been worth it all! I've had big loss weeks and no loss weeks but it has all worked out and I'm still losing (very slowly now!) about 2-3 lbs a month but considering where I started I'm thrilled with that!! I went from being "super morbidly obese" to one pound away from "overweight".

I had my surgery yesterday morning, July 1. It took longer than expected because my gallbladder was inflamed. I had my lap band and gallbladder removed, hiatal hernia repaired, and the gastric sleeve.? I feel sore, specially where they've removed my port.
So far so good! My doctor is amazing!

Costco's Premier Protein 30 grams of Protein chocolate and vanilla.... Costs $25 for 18 cans in 1 pack...The chocolate is my favorite but the vanilla is good to u can add fruit to it, mio and other flavorings to create an awesome smoothie....I've had this brand before surgery...
And I'm still drinking this brand after...it's pretty good!!!!

I also started pureed food this week. I made chicken salad and put it in the food processor. It's not totally pureed, but it is close. When I eat it I get some pain like I need to belch. I'm wondering if I am eating it too fast. I am paranoid about leaks, but I am not having any other issues.

So I did this too for my first puréed meal just now! I had 1 oz of rice, a little shredded cheese, a tsp of sour cream mixed with salsa verde, and 2 oz of grilled chicken. It took me about and hour and a half to finish that but it was SO good.

Sleevefornellie reacted to VSGAnn2014 in Shame in sharing WLS with friends/family?
I told only my husband and two close friends who live 1,000 miles away -- in different directions.
I knew beforehand, based on things both family members and other close friends said, that they knew nothing about WLS and weren't supportive of it. Just imagine how much time you've sunk into educating yourself about WLS and then consider whether you want to put that much effort into educating every Tom, d**k and Harry you know about WLS.
For the record, I've lost / gained weight many times in my life. This time around, my friends / family think I've just finally "succeeded." I've lost 90 pounds in the last year and am 5 pounds under my weight loss goal. Doing great. Feeling good. Looking good. And not having to field any goofy, snarky comments from anyone either.
