  1. Hi All, just checking in. Jeni I thought about you today, being so close to your surgery date. Did you manage to lose those few pounds? I have nothing new to report. Spent the weekend cooking up the meals for the week. The step aerobics class I'm taking is video taping a session. I'm confident I'll make my instructor proud by keeping up with the class. Let's hear what going on in your world.
  2. Hi All, nothing much to report. My step aerobics instructor will be taping one of our sessions. I missed the last taping but I'm on board for this one. I'm confident I'll be able to make him proud and keep up. As for weight loss, slow this week. But I know I'll lose at least 10lbs this month. It won't put me at my goal but close enough. I'm closer to fitting my Whitepants the way I want. I now know they are not a size 16 nor may be a 14. So, my goal size is either 14 or 12. I thought size 16 would be ideal for me. Well, how are you doing?
  3. Hi Welcome back. Sometimes we all have set backs where I am just recovering from one myself. Like you, I've come a long way from two years ago and know once I get back on track anything is possible. Yeah, we have our set backs but we know them when we see them and sometimes am able to stop us in our own tracks. Hey, sometimes those set backs are our best motivator to get us back in the groove. We learn from them, see the signs that set us off and try not to do the side them or work with them. So, just keep checking in.
  4. Hi All, Juli and Jeni, as your surgery dates approach, I am almost as anxious you are. You two make me feel as if I'm there with you holding your hands. My prayers are with you both. I started with the personal trainer in a group of four. I like this setting for I feel like a lot of pressure is not too much on me. Hope to read good things from you.
  5. Hi All Marchies, Jeni is right when she says that we all should be proud of ourselves. Even when I had my many setbacks, I still moved forward. I knew that moving forward was the only way to be where I am today. I don't have a buddy partner to help to reach our goal, but I am glad I have you. As much as I would like to be at goal weight by my anniversary I know I'll be there by my Birthday-July in my WhitePants. Hopefully hanging loose on me. I'm almost back to losing weight mode. Lost 7 of the 13lbs gained in one month. I changed my eating style to go along with the eat 5-6 small meals a day. That didn't work for me. So, I'm back to myself in what worked for me before. Kept up my exercise and also started Swing Dance classes last month. My evenings are pretty much full now, giving why I haven't been on much. Also, trying to get into going to gym in the mornings to free up my evenings to do other things. My nurtitionist has started a personal training session at a discount of $35 per session. I've signed up for 4, that starts March 3. I'll stop here. Don't want to lose your interest in what's going on with me. Although we may not think of it as much but, whatever has been going on with you last month did in some way affect what you mananged to lose or gain. It's all how you perceive how it affected your goal to lose weight. Let's hear from you. After all, we are each others ears, rather eyes. Thanks for being here.
  6. Hi All, glad to read your threads Juli and Jeni. It's good to be able to follow the two of you through this time. Being there with you probably will help me in the future should I choose to have surgery. Keep us informed.
  7. This is why I love LapBand Talk. Just when you think you can't find anyone sharing what you're going through just look and you'll find threads like this. Some times I want to start a thread but feel I'm the only one with the situation at that time. I'm going through self sabotage again. I'm 30lbs from my set weight goal, but 50 lbs from what I may want to be. My weakness is carbs and like most desserts/junk foods. I eliminate them from my diet so much that when I do have them I quickly become obsessed and out of control with them. Just like now these last few weeks. I'm coming to grips with it and getting back in control. I know there is also underlaying issues going on. And pretty much of them I have read here. With my teenager having her own social life, a junior in high school and other activities I have a lot more time to myself. I go to the gym about 2 -5 times a week and get home after 8:30pm. The morale at my job is low and I'm burned out with my daily routine. Although I usually don't keep junk food in my home or at work, when I buy them, I eat them within a day or two. Mostly the same day. So, I have a lot of soul searching and identifying to do to find out what is sending me over the edge. I'm just coming to terms with my new body. Between becoming comfortable with where I am and hitting plateaus, I'm yo-yoing between gaining and losing weight. I think one of my issues is not having much of a social life myself. My sister/friend has been in a coma for more than a year, another friend suffers from depression and I really don't have any other friends I care to socialize with. I've started Swing Dance, so I'm hoping they'll be my new social group. We're all the same age 50+, so our children are pretty much on their own which leaves us time for ourself. So, I'll be returning to keep in touch and with help from the thread we'll found out more about ourselves and what is holding us back. Thanks for being here.
  8. Hi All, not doing so well. I've lost all sort of control. My junk food addiction is out of control. Yesterday, I went out and bought almost $20 in junk food. Eaten more carbs and dairy foods in the last few week than before. I was trying to incorporate carbs and healthy Desserts into my diet. I need to start over again and do better. Denying myself sweets and carbs then going out of control is not good. So set on reaching my goal weight by March, 2009 is tearing at me. After all, desserts can be a healthy part of your eating lifestyle. I know this'll set me back a few pounds, but I'll just have to handle it. Even though I'm losing, I'm yo-yoing between gaining and losing the weight. Now I'm 13lbs heavier. Which means no weight lose for this month. I also, need to get another fill. I've increased my portion size by one - two onces to offset my not eating meat and fish so much. Well, so much for me. Just venting and trying to deal. What's new with you?
  9. Good Morning To All. Just chekcing in. Jeni and Juli, both of you are my role model at this stage of my weight loss. At the moment I'm not having much of loose/hanging skin issues. A little sagging, not much. But, then again I haven't lost all the weight I want. I still have another 30 to 50 pounds to go. With all the exercise I'm doing, my muscles have firmmed much. Although I don't think that'll keep my skin from sagging more. I have noticed that my weight is not evenly distributed on my body. My right side is a bit smaller than the left. On the right side my hip may be 1/4" lower, the fat behind my knee is smaller, my calf is smaller also. And the fat (I call it a lip) over my elbow hangs. I have no idea what exercise I can do to keep it from hanging more as I lose weight. Well, enough for me. I look forward to reading each of your progress at this time. Again, you two have inspired me so much on this journey. Can you put the thread you are following so that I may read also. Thanks.
  10. Hi All hope is well with you or things are getting better. In going through this new lifestyle journey, I'm still learning new things. When I hit a plateau, I usually don't recongnize it until it's too late to break. When I lose potion control it's usually with something that wouldn't seem to matter much. This last week it was vegetable lasagna zucch & ylo squash. Of course loaded with ricotta, mozzrella and Pasta sauce. Since I thought my family would be eating it also, I didn't manage portion control much. Well, of course I gained back 8lbs within the last two weeks. Along with the junk food I ate. Like I said, I didn't pay attention to portion control. In addition to hitting a plateau. Now that I've come to terms with this I'm back again on track. I just have a small portion of lasagna left so I'll be dividing that between lunch and dinner. Also, those two Snacks you're suppose to add to your having 5 small meals a day. That didn't help much either. Although one was a fruit or salad and the other 1 or 2 ounces of something. I'm going back to my 3 meals and maybe 1 snack being a fruit or salad and call it a day. I did get to the gym 3x last week. That may of keep me from putting on more weight. Well, so much for me. I'm on my way to the gym. The plan was to be at the gym a 6:30am, since it starting to get lighter in the mornings. Didn't. Will try to do better tomorrow, since I won't be going to bed at 2:00am. Hope all is well with you and log some success or no success stories. Still learning.
  11. Hi All, I see I'm not the only one MIA. I've somewhat become busy in the evening that I don't remember to log on much less log in. Haven't had too much success this week or the last few weeks. I'm not losing weight but I'm losing inches. I sometimes spend so much energy on the weight I forget about the inches. I'm in a size 16 pants. I think those whitepants of mine are a size 12. My daughter is a size 10 and they are too big on her. Boy, to think I was once that size. Yesterday, someone asked me "what's next after I reach my goal weight?" I looked at her and said "I don't know." I really haven't thought that far ahead. I really don't know and it kind of scares me. I don't have a plan. Other than trying to maintain the goal weight, I don't know. So I ask you, "what's next after you reach your goal weight." w.
  12. Hi All, hope all is well with you and your family. Happy Valentines Day to you All. Spent this weekend buying, preparing and cooking my meals for the week. I see now this is the best way to go for me. Not that I made bad food choices but my junk food cravings came back. And that mac & cheeses did me in. I had better control when I prepared my meals ahead of time. I really had a bad Sunday with Cookies and cakes. I'll admit it felt good but undid all that I had accomplished these last three weeks. One week undid all that by gaining a few pounds. I have to get better control of the Pasta and sweets. I'm okay with the rice but the pasta does me in. I'm not discouraged but so much want to meet my 175lbs goal next month. I know what to do to get back on track. Hope to read good news from you.
  13. Hello All, just checking in to see what's new with anyone. I didn't have such a good week. I pretty much stayed within my diet, but went off when I had too many carbs this week. The family wanted mac & cheese Sunday but they didn't eat it much this week. So, guess who had some to eat every day? Knowing my weakness for carbs. So, I gained 8 lbs this week from it. I tried to portion it out before eating it, and had some every day. So much for me. Juli, I'm anxious for you as you are for yourself. You'll have two anniversies to Celebrate. Boy, two new lifestyle to enjoy.
  14. Happy Valentines to Everyone, in case I'm not able to log in about that time. I'm still finding new ways to get to my weight goal. The lastest is the Fat Smash Diet. I'm on Phase II which I get to introduce meat back into my diet. I haven't yet for I'm trying to see how long I can hold out on just eating veggies and carbs and legumes. I did lose 6 pound during the first phase. I also took my first Swing Dance class Monday. I think adding this to my exercise routine will get me to my weight goal next month. Now that I'm so close to it I almost seem obsessed with doing what it takes to get there. So, hope you're coming up with new ways to get you there. Trying new things to get closer to your weight goal for the Anniversy.
  15. Hi All, just checking in to see how everyone is doing. My Fat Smash Diet is in week two, where I can introduce meats back into my diet. I haven't yet for I'm trying to see how long I can stay on Phase I. Eating just carbs & veggie, my Proteins come from the legumes and Beans. I've lost another 2lbs, bringing my weight to 192lbs this week. This diet gets me to expand my trying new veggies and beans. And making my meals interesting and becoming to the eat. My complexion has cleared up more and my skin tone is evening out. My step class has stepped it up a bit having to do more fast paced steps and using the board for upper body exercises. Just in time for the summer. I expect to be a goal weight then with just concentrating more on strengthening and body toning. So, how have you been doing? Hope you're keeping steady and positive.
  16. Hi All, just checking in. Nothing new to report on my end. Still maintaing 195lbs. But, happy that I haven't gained any more. Only went to the gym twice this week. Scheduling problems. But, I'll be back tomorrow. Good for you Jeni. Bally's has a 8 week program right now and look into their free 1 day pass, 2 week program and 30 day 19.99 intro. I got started with the 30 day intro and joined them through my union and got a discount which helped. So, good luck. Hope all is doing well and revamping your program. Let's aim to lose 10 lbs by March.
  17. Hi Everyone, day 3 of my Fat Smash Diet. It's not as bad as I thought. I am trying more new vegetables and a other Protein items. Coucous, tabouli, falfael, making veggie burgers for a start. This week when making my meals for the week, I put sugar in some foods not realizing that they did not need much help, When put together will give the right flavor. Lessoned learned. No more weight lose yet. Since losing 8lbs since the beginning of the month, I hope to lose 2 more. Juli, my nutrionist told me to eat more protein at meal times to help get over that craving feeling. I did what she said it did work. Not only did it help with the cravings it helped keep me full. The upside to this also, my nails became stronger and broke less and grew. But, of course I got over confident and slacked up, then went back to increasing my protein. Like everything, give it a try and see what happens. Happy mid-week to all.
  18. Great to hear from you Janine. Yes, we are all at different stages of still working with our band and finding new ways to jump start our wieght lose. Just checking to see what new thing someone has noticed about themselves, changed or is doing new and seeing results. Since my detox finished on Thursday, I have lost 10 lbs and I'm still losing. aI'm starting a Fat Smash Diet where for 9 days just brown rice, (no white foods) and vegetables and fruits. This should be interesting. Have upped my exercise to 4x a week now with step aerobics and kwando being a high cardio activity. I'll keep you informed.
  19. Hi All, just checking in. I'm proud to say that I am now wearing a size 16 pants. They fit a bit snug, but they'll loosen up in time w/ my continued weight loss. Those white pants I want to get in must be a size 14 or 12. Not a 16 like I first thought. So my weight goal of 175lbs being 155lbs the lowest I want to weigh will get me in those pants. How was you week.?
  20. Hi Everyone, hope things are going well for you. Juli, I do understand that this is not an easy decision to make. The fact that you've considered having it, and will have it for health reasons is another life altering decision you've made. As any surgery the what ifs are scary, which held me four years from getting the band surgery. I haven't lost as much weight as you have yet. So, I can't even imagine having to make that decision. But, I still commend you for making the decision. So, I'll be living this experience through you and hope should I need to go the same route I'll be ready. Thank you for sharing this experience with us. So, hope everyone is having success in meeting their anniversary weight loss. Anything you plan on incorporating to meet that goal?
  21. Good Morning All, in the beginning it was hard for me to get in my Protein for the day, along w/ the other daily intake of veggies and carbs. What I did was just eat veggies and Proteins at meal time and for Snacks. Of course having more protein than veggies at meal time. Try this for two weeks. It will get you into the habit of eating more protein to help fill you up. Then you discover other ways of getting your protein in. This is still a learning process. March will be two years for me and I'm still learning and discovering things. Don't discourage yourself from not conquering this.
  22. Good Morning All, as we all start this new week. Nothing new on the home front. Making a medical list of all my body parts I need to take care of. My 1 stop will be dental, before my dentist not give me another refill of antibotic over the phone... Mrs. Husker it good that you went quickly to the dentist before the infection spread. Waiting for the swelling to go away. Juli, I commend anyone who is willing to get reconstructive surgery. I so don't want to go under the knife again. But, if I do, I just hope it's for one body area only. My prayers will be with you when you go. This is your year for a new you. You Go Girl!!!! My exercise regime is going well. I've lost 5 lbs and 1/2 inches since I began this detox. Helped with the gym and I think mostly the Kwando classes. The Kwando class have me stretching my entire body with the kicks and moves. I like this class. Well, everyone have a great and positive week, healthy week. This year let's get our health in line with our continued weigh loss journey. We know what we need to do, just need to put it into work. Let this be the one thing we do for ourselves. We deserve it. Let's put as much energy into ourselves as we do for others. For so many others depend on us, whether we want to believe it or not. Well, that's it for me. Have to trudge out in the snow to vist my sister in the hospital. Then come back and prepare my meals for the week. Take Care.
  23. Hello Everyone, my last PB was due to swallowing a capsule. In looking at it I figured it would go down with no effort. I was wrong. I seemed like it went down side ways and that lingering feeling was there for hours. Anything I took by mouth after that caused problems. It started after each of the following: a cup of tea, followed by a cereal bar, then by water last trying to eat lunch. All this took place between 7:30 am 12:30pm. I had gotten the usual feeling, sliming, gagging, hacking and recycling all that I had tried to drink or eat. Say that to say this, it is not always eating to fast or too much that will cause you to PB. One thing I noticed when PBing, you know when it's over when that big blob of slime and air bubble come up. Well, that's how it is with me, but you have your own way of knowing when it's over.
  24. Good Morning Everyone. Just want to say I have held my position of 199.8 lbs for 2 days. I have now arrived at Onederland and the feeling is great. This has given me more confidence that I will reach my goal weight by March. And be in my Whitepants for my Birthday in July. Well, on my way to the gym for step aerobics and kwando classes. Hope your weekend is great.
  25. Good Morning All. I'm on the road to losing weight again. I think not only have I passed the "dreaded plateau" but losing inches as well. I've lost another inch of my hips and dropped 4lbs since last week. Another way I can tell when I'm losing steadly is going to the bathroom. Even if I haven't gotten in my 6 - 8 glasses of Water a day. The detox problem I'm doing is a 14 day complete body cleanse. Store brand "Whole food - 365 - Complete Body Cleanse". It's a regime of a liver cleanse, mild laxative and Fiber blend". The laxative was milder than I expected. At one time I wasn't sure it was working. Any cleanse vary from least expensive to expensive. ($16.99 - 34.99) So, I went the store brand cost. In reaching some include powders and pills, others just pills. Some may have large pills to take. Mines did and I had to crush them and put into something to drink or eat (apple sauce). There are also 3 day cleanses. The 3 day may be more drastic than stretcing it out to the 7 day, 14 or 30 day cleanse. I'm also going to include this in my regime, doing it every change of the season. I'm satisfy with the results I'm seeing and really feel good. Didn't need to change my eating habits, but, "we're already eating healthy" anyway. When I'm searching the kitchen and frige for something to eat, I keep can tuna fish, tomato soup and apple sauce in stock, and snack on that. Although sometimes I don't want that either. But when I eat them, I'm okay. Hope everyone have a great weekend. Visiting my sister in the hospital, cleaning and throwing out papers and clothes is what's in store for me this weekend.
