  1. That's great to hear. Your Mom helping you out with a trainer. And 8 sessions, and what you have lined up, sound like you're off to a good start. My daughter who is not working also, is using this time like you to lose weight. She registered at the college to take some classe and have access to the gym. And it's working out for her. So, keep up the good work and with the portion control as well as your Protein intake. And come back, even if only you and I post. Okay, take care till you next post.
  2. Hey Jeni. I understand about not coming back cause you haven't lose and not kinda fallen a bit. But, you did come back. So, to me you will start again and get back on track. Yeah, it'll take some time, but you push till something happens. I too just got back on track. You said you just got laid off. That's even harder. Not much movement if you just stay home and do nothing. I want to suggest this website and products. I'm using it again and seeing much results and have seen the testimony of some people who have used them. Herbalife.com. The Core Product is expensive when your funds is low. So was mine when I bought it. Or if you can just purchase the Formula 1 that's a start. Just read up on all the products there is something that'll help. You already know what to do as far as, what to eat and your portion control... Do you have a food scale? I still tell people that's what started me in controlling my portion amount. Come back we understand what you're going thru for we are going thru it ourselves. Hey, when you start using the products and see your own results, you may become a distritutor and sell to your family and friends. If not, like me just get the products at a discount. Come back on. Even if you only read the post of others. Just don't stay away so long. We could of motivated you to get back on track. Maybe that is why other and I at times don't post. Well, let me know what is working for you.
  3. Hi, All, and to you Ms Husker, I can only imagine what you've been thru. But, when I get medical problems, I hope to keep a great outlook on life and a positive faith on the outcome of my recovery. I really appreciate you sharing you ill with the group. Hope your motivation returns by time you post again. The good weather is coming and it should meet you all ready for what it has to offer. Take care...
  4. Thanks for that info KimK813. I'll go back in and see what I can fit. I need a new pair of jeans and casusal pants.
  5. Hi, this is just one more phase you're going to be going thru. As they say, been there; done that. Just go into any store and try on their size 16. I still shop in Ashley Stewart and the Avenue, depending on the cut of the pants. Also, named designers, I get them when their on sale, all this is depending on how much you'll willing to payr for their pants/suits. The cut on their pants is constant. You'll be able to go pickup their pants and know it's going to fit. Good Luck and congrats on your weight loss and conintuing till you reach your weight goal.
  6. Has it really been 4 years? It's hard to believe we've come so far from each of our starting points. Each of us has had setbacks and success in this journey. We've shared our stories and have gotten support and given support to each other. Although we may not come back as often as we would like, but when we do it's as if we didn't miss a beat. I too am 20lbs from goal right now. I still sabortage myself when I get within 5 - 10 lbs of goal. But I have not given up hope that one day I'll get there and so have you. Ms. Husker, go to this website, Eat Right 4 Your Type. com. And if you can get the book, by Peter D'Adamo from the library. This book is about health by your blood type. I started reading it after reading his Geno-Type Diet. I find both were very helpful in relation to some of my health issues. I'm going to get his cookbook although there are a lot, and I mean alot of recipes on his website. My testimony to his book was when I wanted to go vegetarian for the new year. I started eating bean for morning snack and eating the alternative meat products. 2/3 weeks into this and I was having trouble raising my left arm. I had already began cutting out the Beans and meat alternatives. But in reading his book and reviewing my history of foods I've eaten, I saw a pattern I had set for myself. I'll stop here, but try and get the Eat Right 4 Your Type and incorporate some of your blood type into your daily living. By reading his book, I realized I am wheat and gluten intolerant. Not that I can't eat it, but should eliminate, avoid and or limit it in my diet. Along with some foods that has been causing my health problems. It's too early to tell if I see and feel a difference, but I'm going to give it a 30 day trial according to his cookbook. Well, I'll stop here this is a long winded one. Let me know if you decided to get the book. This goes also to others as well.
  7. Hi All, glad to see someone returned and started the thread. It's not a March thread but still. I'll try to setup a March thread and post. This is the new thread. Hope I've done it right. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/126138-is-it-really-4-years-wow/
  8. I choose my goal weight by by two different things. First, I had a pair of white pants that I've been wanting to get back into for the last 20+ years. I did get into them for my birthday. Second, I decided tha 175lbs would be my goal weight. I feel for some reason I was at my best weight then. So I made 175lbs my goal weight to be and stay at.
  9. Hi All, just checking in. I've just come to the realization that I'm a little depressed. Can't seem to concentrate to lose these last pounds. I keep telling myself I'm going to start back to excerising and don't. I so want a buddy partner that I've posted on several websites for one. You would think that someone would answer since they themselves say they're looking for a partner. How serious can they be. Well, I've gained back those 8lbs I lost over the last few weeks. So, I'm back to wanting to lose 20lbs before the end of the year. Just barely staying in my clothes now. Don't want to shop for the next size to get into to wear. If I do, then it may be over for me for a while. I keep using my teenage daughter as an excuse not to go to the gym. She likes when I'm home when she comes in. And if she comes in before 8pm, I'l at the gym. So, I have to buck up and do this. Once I get back into the swing of things I'm good for about 3 months maybe 4/5. But like everything I have to start first. Well, that's all for me now. Hope you're doing well. Miss you all.
  10. Hi All, just checking in. Haven't done bad since my last post. Just can't seem to break that 185lb loss. Back to 190lbs, making it abgain 15lbs to lose. Well, as long as I don't out weigh my new clothes, I'm good. Hope you'll come back in December to log any results you have. Take care....
  11. Hi, Future Fellow Bandster. I have HIP and went thru my family physician. I told her which weight loss surgery I preferred, therefore she referred me for the lapband. I was approved within 30 days after asking about it and had my surgery 30 days after that. When you have been accepted into the HIP Program, inform your doctor that you are interested in bariatric surgery. But first I strongly suggest you do your research before your appointment. There is something to the be informed when you talk to your doctor. By now you should be aware of the different types of weight loss surgery. This site here Lapband Talk can give you some insight into it. Your doctor may suggest one thing depending upon your health issues. i.e. current weight, high blood presssure, diabetic, cholesterol, sleep apenea etc. While you may want another procedure. You'll need to go through a serious of tests, medical, psychologist, physical and blood the usual. Also, it's best to go to a few support group meetings. This way you'll hear the pros and cons of people who have had the surgery. It's very, very helpful in making that decision. You'll need to remember this is a life long adventure you're about to take on. And if you're not mentally ready to make the scarfice then do not put yourself thru it and say the surgery failed. The surgery is only a tool to assist and help you loss weight. You must strongly do your part and be dedicated in this. Also, go to some of the threads in which people have banded by month and year of their surgery. Some threads are by situation and issues. These are very helpful and supportive. Well I hope some of ths was helpful and come on board. I had my surgery in March/2007 and have lost 100+ pounds. I am not sorry I made this decision. Although you will want to loss this weight overnight the course of a few months, it won't work that way. Take this low and you'll be alright. Some of the issues you will go thru the ups and downs the successful times and the not successful times are all part of the journey. This is a word you'll hear a lot on this site. 'Journey". You're not alone in this. Well, I'll stop here this is a lot to read at one time. You're get a lot of advice from here on. You just have to sift through them all and take what will work for you. I'll come back from time to time to read up on your progress and decision. Please keep in touch, for I haven't found anyone on here willing to be a buddy with anyone. Maybe we can if it's okay with you of course. Have a great day and be Thankful for those in your life.
  12. I had my Lapband since March/2007; I am close to goal weight, yet I keep sabortaging myself when I get to the last 10lbs. I need someone to help get and keep me on track. I also would like to be someone's motivator and support person as well. I live in the New York City area as well as work. I so look forward to meeting someone to go along this journey with. Only someone going thru and experiencing what you are can relate to you. Looking forward to hear from anyone.
  13. Hi Everyone. I'm reading that we're all want to have a support group among those on this thread. But, someone needs to take the lead. I'm not much of a leader but I would like to get this started. Let me know if you would like to get together this month. Then we can narrow it down to a location, date and time. I've seen so many sites start and fizz out before it gets started. This is something we need to be committed to. For some of us do not have family or friends that are experiencing what we're going through. Please respond back here or by private message here. I'm looking forward to responses.
  14. Hi Everyone, I started this thread and didn't post what I'm Thankful for. Mine is my love of God and My Faith and Trust In Him. There have been some many times these last few months that I have needed financial help. He has brought me through each and every challenge that have come my way. Next my continued Health. Through my ups and downs with this weight loss journey, he has helped keep me from going back to whence I came from. Even though I wanted to be at my weight goal from day one, my journey this far has taught me a lot. I and you are still learning but we will never, never give up. As the caption you've all seen, "We Are Still A Work In Progress". So, with that said, we're still here and we still have a lot to learn on our way to our weight goal. I know I do. Luv to you all and good health.
  15. Hi All, just finding this site. Has anyone tried to and met up with other on this thread yet? Maybe some of us can and become our own support group. I live and work in Manhattan. How about you? Haven't done so bad so far.
  16. Well, we're about to close out another year. What are we thankful for as we close it out?
  17. Hi All, just checking in again. Kinda lonely here. Now that you're back you have something interesting to share. Still trying to get around this relux. Still can get in only one good meal a day. The other times it's just eating something so that my body can have something to feed off of. Also, started taking Vitamin supplement. The doctor said I maybe vitamin B12 deficient. Was having weakness in my legs or I may have sciatica issues. The x-rays will tell for sure and the blood test. So, I may be looking at therapy for a while and excercise to ease my back pain. Carol, didn't do to well this week. Those darn pastries my daughter brings home from work. I may not be able to eat food, but I can do some damage to junk food. But, since taking the supplements, that's weaning off. Thank Goodness. So I just take the pasteries to work. They love the assorted pasteries I bring. Well welcome back all. I'm going to start the November thread. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f90/november-thankful-month-123902/
  18. Hi, just checking in. Went to the doctor yesterday ab my acid reflux. I was prescribed with Priolsec for 30 days. She says this might solve the problem. Then I'm to go back to the lapband doctor to get an endoscopy of my throat. What may happen at the appt. is that he may remove some of the Fluid to releive the acid reflux. If he does this then I'll really have to step up my food intake. But better that that risk esphogas problem. The worst of them throat cancer from the acid backup. Oh well throat problem, gall bladder removal, what else could be a side effect of lapband. But no matter what, I'm still glad I got it. Just need to regroup and continue on. Hope you've had some success on your journey. Carol, I lost 2 pound, but did not excerise. Looking into what yoga excerise I can and cannot do now. For the doctor say I may have sciatica. Been having tingling and some numbness in my legs. Sometimes when walking or standing my legs feel like they'll just give out from under me. So, I don't want to excerise then fall from where between the gym and home and can't get up. So, I'll just stick to walking or maybe the bike for now.
  19. Hi. good for you .4lb weight lose. I myself loss 3lbs. but that's only because I stopped eating the junk food and cut back on the Pasta. In addition to taking a Protein drink in the morning eating lucnch and not very hungry at night. But do eat a little something just th same. I'm enpowered and engernized to exceris this week. I'm going to start back to yoga, hot yoga tomorrow evening. Start off with 2x a week and maybe 3x. My evenings are flexible, no one to rush home to. As a matter of fact I'm going shopping today and will spend some time window shopping. So, there's my walking for the day. Last week was a rough week, the house renovation, my "TEENAGE Daughter", work not so much. But did hear of a co-worker who passed away on her way to "work". When you hear news like that, you begin to revaluate your own life. Like I'm doing now. I have a dr's. appt. Tuesday about weakness in my legs. Hope it's something that a pill will take care of or something that a holistic way will take care of. Well, let's try to check in twice a week for each others results. The others will soon follow.. Take care for now.
  20. Hi All, Just Checking In. Hey Carol. Glad you're up for the challenge. I'm able to get back to yoga now that the renovation to the house is almost over. I can plan my evenings better now. I'm excited for both partners. I thought since my acid reflux was not as bad that I'd be eating more. Not so, or just sometimes. Still down to one good meal a day and maybe something at nights. With that baking, I know what self control that will be. My daughter works in a bakery on the weekends, so she'll be brining home samples. Good luck to me. Janine and Ms Husker hope all is well or soon to be. Miss hearing from you. To all those coming back, thanks for dropping by. Now that the holidays are coming up it may be weeks before logging on. But still find the time even if you don't post your progress. Just saying hello is good enough. Luv to All
  21. Hey All, Carol, you and I want to lose the same amount of weight by year end. So let's buddy up on the adventure. And congrats on the amount you loss since May. Sometimes we go thru weight loss spurts. And that was a lot. I haven't had one like that for months. So with buddying up with you and my new excercise buddy, I should be at my goal. I'm so excited. I'm going back to eating vegetables for dinner. Just have one solid meal which will be lunch and vegetable prepared some kind of way for dinner. Some type of liquid form. Since it's easier for the system to digest at that time of night. Since I will be coming home late from excerising about 9pm. So, I don't want to be eating a heavy meal then go to bed. So, what say you Carole? Up to the challenge???
