4evertonya got a reaction from virgogirl67 in Hi bariatric pals!
I am Tonya I am From Texas and I'm 45 years old.. I am researching planning to schedule in Mexico hoping to have the sleeve done around the 1st part of June. I would love to find others going the same time.. I'm very scared and nervous.. I need to lose about 75lbs.. I am little overwhelmed because I don't know which hospital are safe or what doctor to really use. I been in contact with three different ones the first I found was Dr. Mario Almanza @ weight loss agent at Jerusalem hospital and that's a no deal for me, I'm scared of Jerusalem hospital. I want to go to a real hospital with a real professional emergency staff.. I have heard of one to many bad things at hospital Jerusalem. The other is Medical Tourism at Florence Hospital with Dr Mario Camelo Ramos.. So I'm looking for more info and will glad take any and all your suggestions.. Please help

    Hi,
I'm in the research phase of getting the gastric sleeve done in Mexico and I'm wondering if anyone has had their surgery with Dr. Mario Camelo Ramos at Florence Hospital? ?
I can't really find a lot of information on him specifically. The same popular names keep coming up when I search and I do know there are other surgeons that are just as qualified but they may not have the "celebrity" status like some of the other surgeons.
I'm just want to make sure I make the right decision so any insight or if you know where I could search that would be so helpful also

Hi Angela, how is it going? My Dr here in San Diego said my ins won't pay until I try and fail at 3 different diets (with documented proof) 6 mons each and then I'd also need to have a debilitating illness like high bp or diabetes. I want to lose weight before I get sick! So I'm going to have it done in Mexico. I'm worried I'm going to have trouble staying hydrated, especially since I'm a nurse and get a bit dehydrated when I work now!!! (We can't keep fluids with us) and frankly I'm s bit lazy about drinking all the Water in suppose to. So how are you doing?

I'm hoping to go end of May or June. I'm a bit worried about staying hydrated at work, I'm a nurse too, and get dehydrated now when I do 3 in a row!

    Hi everyone!
I'm Michelle and I am 30 years old. I'm from Orlando, FL. My sleeve is my 30th bday present to myself. I want to be healthy and more active (and skinny but I feel kind of bad admitting that! lol). I have been an ER RN for 10 years and of course I'm getting alot of grief from my co-workers about having surgery in Mexico. But I'm not letting that bother me!
    Surgery date: 4/10/15
    Surgeon: Elias Ortiz
    Hospital: Mi Doctor in TJ
    Ht: 5' 6.5"
    HW 262
    CW 255
    GW 160ish
I start my 2 week pre-op diet next Friday and I'm kind of excited but dreading that part!! I'm having my gallbladder removed when I have my sleeve as well.

I was sleeved at florence and I found the place just fine. It's just like any other hospital, yes it's a bit dated but the staff were very nice and they followed protocols for infection prevention and patient comfort. I had the same nurses, I had my own bathroom, a tv and an extra bed for my husband. It met my expectations and I was very comfortable.

I can't help you with personal experience at TJ hospitals, since both time I've been to TJ for surgery, it was at surgical centers. But, I just wanted to welcome you to the forums and wish you the best of luck in your research and choosing a surgeon.

Syntrax Matrix or Syntrax Nectars.< /p>
I currently use the Matrix Vanilla. I sometimes add SF DaVinci Syrup such as caramel, brown sugar/cinnamon, pumpkin pie, gingerbread. They come as fruit flavored also. Once I went post-op I could add no sugar added frozen fruit such as mangos, strawberries, peaches, blueberries. I have SF Hershey's chocolate syrup. My NUT also suggested adding extract such as almond for a different flavor.
My husband likes the Matrix Peanut Butter cookie shake.
I tried a number of the Nectars and Matrix. I love fruit but normally do not like fruit flavored things. However I liked the strawberry mousee, orange cream, kiwi strawberry, strawberry cream, chocolate, Cookies and cream.
I liked the Premier Vanilla and Chocolate- until I tried the Matrix products and just could not go back. Yes the pre-made Premier and EAS ore more convenient but I much prefer the Matrix and so does my husband. The Pre-made seem thicker and too sweet.
My Bariatric Pal has sample packs of the Nectars and Matrix available.

We are heading to FL in May to visit family and when we are there we live outside by their pool or at the beach. So I knew I needed a new bathing suit. So I started shopping in April. Ordering a bunch off of Lane Bryant, Avenue and Lands End. I also bought one top at Target.
Well I found a top and bottom and that will work for me. The top I got at Target and is a size 20, and the bottoms (my favorite part) is a size 18 and has an extra piece that goes up to right below my bustline to help hold in my tummy area is from Lands End. I feel pretty good in it and I really like the way it feels. Covers what needs to be covered (my belly and upper thighs) but still looks cute. I have a lot of returning to do but I am just glad to have found a suit!!
I don't think I look fantastic but I feel comfortable and for the size I am now I'm pretty happy with how it looks!!
